  1. Had a nice float from Moon Valley down to Bennett two Friday's ago. Only went into Bennett to let the girls feed the fish and buy them an ice cream. The spring branch did not appear to be in great shape on the lower end. Mostly tiddlers in the concrete pens.

Looks like fun. Good for you.
  3. Water was up & falling on that trip too.
  4. To bad....That would have made some fine soup.
  5. Looks like black flukes (worms) or melanosis (irregular blotches). Always see that on bass from the Huzzah or Courtois.
  6. Had slow fishing between Sand Shoal and Mason Last spring. Might have been a bad weekend...but who knows...Seems like good habitat.
  7. 1/8oz Kastmaster in silver for rainbows, or the jigs. Rainbows don't like bass sized jerkbaits much, but the brown trout sure do (early or late).Rainbows mid day but the tend to go deep. Be careful on the limestone bedrock...easy to float your hat on that river.

Steak looks great to me. Hope it was good grade or would have gone 2 more if less than select. Like babaganoush better than hummus but I work with folks who visit Isreal allot. Have a good one for baba, but need eggplant in season. Done cooking @ 2 today. 2 pork shoulders, 2 brisket flats, 6 racks of baby backs, 2 whole chickens. All vac packed up and ready for summer camp trips with the fam.
  10. Mud hole makes some nice 5'6" blanks. Made for my daughters, could help you build one if you have not. Good friends with Tom Hargrove. Could spin a custom grip to fit your kids hand on his grip gizmo.
  11. Good for you two! Nice fish and awesome poppers.
  12. Lots of people around Lesterville. Even on weekdays. Might be 5-600 folks at K bridge on a warm Friday or Saturday. The fish don't care though. Usually right in the middle or tucked under a logjam.

That's pretty cool! Anyone can sign up and get certified, just takes a time commitment. Just thought you were throwing a barb at the KC boys!
  14. Surprised that nobody has mentioned swim jigs.1/2oz or 3/4oz with a 4-5" swimbait attached. Has become a favorite for better than average smallmouth bass.

Pizza and egg drop soup looks good. Contemplating a smoker run this weekend. All they on sale vac packed stuff from last fall. A couple pork shoulders, bunch of ribs, brisket, some whole chickens. Has anyone ever played around with honey powder in a rub or as a finish? Talked to a fellow who is a KCBS BBQ judge last weekend who recommended. Think he used as a finish, but don't remember other than its granular so it sticks and does not run off.
  17. Had three trout centric anglers fishing Neds on a float last Friday. They only had ultralight spin tackle, so it worked well for them. They caught a lot of fish and a few quality fish to boot. Fished bigger stuff on casting gear all day and did not catch near their numbers. Near surface, surface bite was fair to good. It works all the time apparently, but I'd rather fish near the top when they are in an active mood. Dave's heads are great. We did not lose any, and only wore out 2-3 baits.
  18. Think you will be fine...but I'd probably call Twin Bridges to make sure.
  19. Like the yellow ones the best, cinnabars for color, smooths are good too. Blacks best dried as John said.
  20. They are where they are. A straight downstream cast in the middle of nothing works more often than you think it might. Especially on creeks/rivers that see lots of traffic. Not necessary to beat the bank and fish structure all the time.
  21. Congrats! Looks like a keeper.

    What's Cooking?

Mother's Day feast prep. Lamb chops in chimichurri, taters & brussels. Chops hitting the grill in a couple.
  23. Looks like a great trip! Good for you guys! Have always wanted to do some alpine fly-fishing.
  24. My girls have fun catching bluegill on Senko & Zinker bits. Use a piece about an inch long and put it on a small circle hook.
  25. Spring Chickens are out now. Have seen several while driving to work, but not a favorite of mine. Cant wait for chants...pretty easy to hunt. Oak Hickory woods after a rain, when its hot. Usually up in abundance around Father's day, but available until fall.
