  2. I just wanted to say thanks to all the contributors on the forum. I read almost every day, even if I don't post. My fishing success has been much greater due to some of the info you guys share. Even when you post that it was a challenge, it helps eliminate water and save time and money. So thanks for being there and thanks for sharing.
  3. OAF is my favorite. A non-fishing one that has good links to pages and blogs is a running one at http://www.runnersworld.com/community/forums/ I think it is a good example. Kind of a large one though. www.bodybuilding.com has great links to your page and your blogs.
  4. I have tried to stay out of this.....but you also seem to have some knowledge. It was more than two agencies, more than marijuana and the owner had plenty of warning and visits. You want to visit about drug wars? Look to the south. Most of our drugs come from Mexico. Does anyone want that type of war here?
  5. I am sorry. Sort of a running joke to stay away from Aunts Creek as I love it around there. I haven't fished by the dam or Shell Knob. I haven't been able to fish much lately, but did get out late morning until two yesterday. We didn't fish Aunt's Creek, but just outside it. We caught a bunch of shorts. Used the Eakins jig (of course). Our fish were in about 18 feet of water. It was so nice being out there, but a little choppy and a little chilly. Plan on leaving in a few minutes to go today. Hope everyone has a good day!
  6. True and to the point! Nothing to see in Aunt's Creek! Shell Knob and down by the dam is hot right now.
  7. I couldn't agree more/ I fished with Babler a few times. Top of my list and might try to get him for some winter stick bait lessons!
  8. I think I saw you by the bridge. Nice fish. I was wearing a jacket though!
  9. My excuse is that seems to be all I eat in an attempt to try to keep the rolls away! I love top water and the Mrs and I are going to try to get out Saturday. Sounds like good weather. Is a yellow magic a popper?
  10. I agree with House. It would be a great time to have a guide. Captain Don would be a good choice for that time of year too. There are lots of guides that volunteer time and info on here for free. Bill Babler is awesome and fun to fish with, Captain Don, Eric P., Captain Joe, and many more. Bill Beck doesn't type on here, but a guy I would really like to fish with too. I know I am missing a bunch of names that have great reputations and post on here.
  11. Much is made about the thermocline for obvious reasons. It is usually right below where the fish stack up. It is not a static thing. It is different depths, depending on what part of the lake, how much rain, if the dam pulling water, night temps, day temps and so on. Generally, if they are pulling fish at 55 feet suspended in 110 feet, then the thermocline is just below 55 somewhere. Of course....I could be wrong. I fished without any electronics at all the first few years and we used to count down our line and fish up from there until we started getting hits. It has to be a real challenge without electronics, especially if you have fished with them. If I remember right....weren't you looking for walleye the last time you were down? The only reason I ask is there are fewer walleye fisherman on the forum than bass and crappie. Sometimes the info is a little thinner in that area. Either way....you are part of the old boys club now my brothjer!
  12. Wow! To have a screen name like 3inonegod and then say something like that is a bit ironic. Maybe get with Phil and see if you can change it to Thomas? Stock jockey-The week prior to coming you might want to pay close attention to the posts. If you are already dropping cash on a visit to Table Rock then a half day with a guide is a real good investment to make sure the week is successful. With that in mind....the lake changes every day or week, especially in the spring and fall. There are quite a few areas close to KC area, Schooners is starting to pick up, there are some nice deeper points around Mill Creek and both Cows have some nice points and/or bluffs nearby. As I said...when you get really close to time. watch the posts and drop a PM to one of the regulars and they will often give exact locations to visitors.
  13. Fish porn! I love it.
  14. One more weekend and the fishermen get the lake back! RPS, you kept at it hard this summer! I think Bass Pro even made an end cap display of your bait this year.
  15. Ah! In fast food terms I understand. Only the agressive fish move much to get your bait. The fish that waits near the thermocline under the shad ball for some of the shad to fall down to them to eat are often the larger fish as they don't expend as much energy to get their food. I want to catch the drive through fish! Thanks again for sharing. You always educate here and on the boaters forum.
  16. Wow! That was an awesome lesson. A question I have is...do you really have to fish at the thermocline for the fish. We know where they are from the depth finder, but depending on their condition (how hungry, spawn...) they will come a long way to eat your bait won't they? So say you are at a 27 foot thermocline.....if they are hungry and the surface water isn't too hot, they hit top water if the rest of their food is there. I guess i am asking if the thermocline is important by itself or more important to determine where the food is in relation to the thermocline to determine what depth, speed of retrieve and method of fishing that particular bait? Poop! I think I just confused myself! Thanks for explaining and showing how to find it!
  17. Mine have been on through the summer too. I have had a few people recognize them and we visited. I have only had one guy with the dots though. I still like the idea of finding fellow OAFers on the lake. I hope they catch on.

    Champ188

Champ is one of the nicest guys I have met. One of the few guys that could ever truly deserves someone like Donna. Our family saying prayers as well.
  19. I agree with Trav on this one. Mike posted a few spots this spring trying to help a guy. He even posted a map. Those spots were unavailable for quite a few weeks after. Everyone in that area was at least trying them. I try to post depths, general types of areas and baits. If someone is struggling or visiting from another state, then i PM them some info or specific spots in hopes that they have a better trip or give them a point of reference to start with. Most guys post enough info to eliminate a lot of water. Some of the fun for me is finding it from there.
  20. Hmmmm...not a bad idea
  21. Thanks for the info. Cooler nights ahead this week too!
  22. Those little poles hold up pretty well. We have been pond fishing quite a bit this summer and my friends Spiderman pole seems to catch most of the fish. Those are pics to cherish the good times!
  23. Sorry about school starting up for you. It seems to start earlier and earlier every year. Didn't it start the first week of September when I was a kid?
  24. Capt Joe and some others posted links to a You tube thing about fizzing. Should be on the June AIA report somewhere. I wish we could make a fizzing sticky sometime as this topic comes up often and is a fish saver.
  25. We used them this summer for deeper fishing. They dry out quick when driving the boat down the lake. We had good luck using them on drop shots. We keep them in the fridge when not fishing, but just store in the tackle locker when on the lake.
