New to Trout Fishing: help me get started please.
Daryk Campbell Sr replied to jimithyashford's topic in Trout Talk
I agree with everything that was said above. I'm not familiar with those waters and what the typical fish counts may be. I can tell you from personal experience, just because they are there, and you can see them doesn't mean they will bite. Even if you caught many the day before in the same location with the exact same setup. Just keep trying, and have fun. Catching fish is just a bonus. -
Big Brown and Blue Angels.

That poor guy is gonna be spending alot of time up there now. -
Was gonna try out 'ol Frankenstein on the water today. The water had other plans. My son Lucas got some practice towing and backing the boat though. This is the Joachim Creek Herculaneum boat ramp across fron Kade's Playground. Looks like I'll be needing a jack plate. Who has simple recommendations?

Ethernet
Daryk Campbell Sr replied to olbasser's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Back in the earlier days of ethernet we often had to use a crossover cable to connect 2 similar devices. I'm not sure if that may be your issue. A standard ethernet cable would not allow the devices to communicate. -
Thts how I like my baked beans. I can't believe many places, especially barbecue places dont do them this way.

We came down to White River in Arkansas at Rileys Outfitters to celebrate birthdays for Cody @gotmuddy, and Ryan's @Ryan Miloshewski birthdays. Rick@Terrierman, and DJ showed up. Food as always was great. Water was up and really pushing on the river. I caught my best brown at 21 and 1/2 inches on Friday on the White, and Cody caught a 18" smallie on the Buffalo on Saturday.

Brain Eating Amoeba at LOZ
Daryk Campbell Sr replied to snagged in outlet 3's topic in Lake of the Ozarks
It should hold enough weight that only one person has been affected. Of the amounts of people who are in the lake daily unaffected, I would have to believe other factors contribute to the issue. But media will always sell. -
Brain Eating Amoeba at LOZ
Daryk Campbell Sr replied to snagged in outlet 3's topic in Lake of the Ozarks
When I was in the hospital for a couple weeks after the car accident, multiple health care workers seemed surprised or some even seemed offended as if I was lying when I told them I didn't take anything daily, and I dont take have any prescriptions. It was more than a couple doctors as well. I'm not trying to spark a discussion, I was just really surprised at.how they reacted. -
Congratulations on your recent expansion of Lilley's Landing.

Couple thing recently. First go at making Burnt Ends, used lean stew meat, made some broccoli cheese snacks, (you really gotta appreciate broccoli taste and texture, but they are good), and calzone/strombolli/pizza pocket things. I forgot cheese on the first batch and I forgot to vent the second batch. Used refrigerated rolled pizza dough, stretched it out to fit a large square air bake cookie sheet, cut them in 4 squares stuffed to each person'srequest of toppings.

Good thing this is a fishing forum, because you had me hook, line and sinker. I read this 2 or 3 times trying to understand. Then, I tried to consider how they would go about making wing nuts float, or if you were referring to an electrical"float test", I'm almost embarrassed to admit it. I guess a nap should be in my future.

Honestly sounds like something I would expect to hear at a show on the strip. This one seems to be more cleaned up, and less of the same track over and over. Interesting.

I'm not going to pick it apart, but I agree with her. At the same time, just thinking about the fact that it was generated by AI completely, is quite interesting.

Labor Day weekend and float tube possibilities
Daryk Campbell Sr replied to Ben Phartin's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Wading at night is a great experience. It is allowed with the same restrictions as day time. Be courteous with your light, and let someone know where you are. Be aware of your location and any exit plan. I'll let others weigh un on the float tube experience, and how far you can expect trout, as I'm not as well versed as others. -
I have never attended a state fair. I've been to a couple of county fairs, but I haven't done much while there.

Beautiful trip. Well written. Glad you guys got to come together again.

So true. We are force fed music on the radio, and I've really gotten tired of it. I got into podcasts for a while, but there's alot of one sided subjects. I listen to E-books, but sometimes I just wanna zone out and have a good beat or melody without needing to concentrate. I need a good rhythm station. Something that has jazzy, bluesy, upbeat while slowing it down. An occasional blurting out of random words that just seem to make sense. Then fade away.

Bug, and larvae questions.
Daryk Campbell Sr replied to Daryk Campbell Sr's topic in Fly Tying Discussions & Entymology
Guys, so far, this discussion has given me a much clearer direction and understanding than the vast searches that I've done over the last 5 or 8 years. @dpitt, you apologize for being simple, but thats exactly what I need. As far as catching fish, I am satisfied with my results. I'm generally not skunked on a regular basis. I just always have enjoyed being beside or in the water. Catching fish is just a bonus. I want to know what "makes up" the stream I'm on. I'm not just eying trout, I'm interested in all of the fish. I have a dough bait that I'm actually over confident in. Almost as good as a seine net. It's not about catching or attracting the fish. Just genuinely interested in a basic level of the stream life. @tjm, that brief description has really made more sense as what I'm asking for. There is alot of information, if you know what things are. But if someone really doesn't know the basics, it just isn't easy to translate. Thank you. Guys, thank you all. Seriously, this thread has been more help than you can understand. It seems like most of the info out there starts on chapter 3, but I can't find the first 2 chapters to make sense of it. I really hope this info helps others who are as lost as me. -
Bug, and larvae questions.
Daryk Campbell Sr replied to Daryk Campbell Sr's topic in Fly Tying Discussions & Entymology
Or night crawlers and redworms. I just want to understand what a (insert bug here) is. What is a Sulphur, or a crackle back? When do certain things happen to the stream? When in high school, I really wanted to study marine biology, and micro biology. But, life happened and I never did. I may be preparing for the mid life swing. I'm just wanting more from my fishing trips. -
2025 Flyfishing Fish Pics
Daryk Campbell Sr replied to FishnDave's topic in General Flyfishing Topics
Cool fossil. Th e blackstripe topminnow is much darker than the ones in catch. I've noticed the same with common carp. -
So, I'm a mid 40's guy who grew up in St Louis City. My parents didn't fish. I'm primarily self taught in the local ponds. While there is alot of info on fly fishing not much on etymology. I recently learned the word to be honest. I've got a high school city education, no college. The teachers they tried, but we just weren't that interested. I've been watching Brian Fleshing with Mad River Outfitters for a decent amount of time. He has been promising an etymology selection of videos, but hasn't posted any yet. What this is about, is a request for someone to direct me to a Bugs for Dummies class or something similar. Maybe someone on here can break it down with the ultra basics. I've learned what a "hatch" is, but for many years while reading on here, I was lost. Can someone show pictures to match names of common bugs? The life cycles of the species? And the flies to match them? I have tried to research, but unless you know what your looking for specific to the species and the fly to match it, there's not much for beginners. If I knew that info, I would not be asking on here. If you got this far, I appreciate it. If you can help direct me, I'll appreciate it more.

Missouri trailers and titles
Daryk Campbell Sr replied to Orey10m's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
You're doing right by passing on them. Usually it is a nightmare trying to get a title, and plain not worth it. Every once in a while they will pop up with title. Usually needing work. As far as the abundance of untitled options, I always expect them to have been stolen at one point. There could be other factors, but in the end, if you want to get a license plate, you need a title. -
I'm usually in a similar way. We usually eat before we head out west, and then on the way home, we usually just get fast food. I stopped in Missouri Hick after many years wanting to try it, we sent to the new location. I was so excited as it smells so good even in the parking lot. My son and I were quite disappointed. Unfortunately it's not just them. I have yet to come across a barbecue place that I wanted to return to. With the exception of one food truck. They are all way over priced in my opinion. Barbecue is much better at home.
