  1. Why is Peter Pan always flying? Because he is from Neverland. I like this joke, because it never gets old.
  2. Here is my first fish on my own tied fly on a fly rod. Fun to catch. Tried to retrieve it without the reel. Didn't work very well. It was kind of funny to see I would imagine. Pulling it in, then letting line out to use the reel. Caught this one also. Same wooly bugger.
  3. I really appreciate this thread. I have a cheap Cabela's setup. Just started tying, and am trying to learn as much as I can, but the lingo is still quite a bit. Well, most of us know an indicator is just a bobber. But why weight forward line (WF)? Or (DT) not sure what that means. Why double tapered? What does that mean? Tippett is leader, right? When to use? Why? Would you use the tapered leader? To what diameters? Why/whynot? Just some of my questions. Fly fishing does seem pretty easy to pick up, but also very intimidating. Thanks for all the help.
  4. My FB marketplace no longer shows me used boats. Just cast Iron. Lol we are in force looking BH.
  5. I was really hoping for a report. I truly am appreciative of this organization and any like it. I have been blessed by many organizations growing up, and want to say thank you to all who volunteer time and experience for those who attend.
  6. I was worried about your vest activating while climbing around there. Good job.
  7. So, I would have never went to this state. I am not afraid of spiders, snakes, crickets, tornadoes, floods, earthquakes or any other typical fear of nature but one. This state is known for such horrifying natural circumstances, and even has a National Park named after them. My wife has life long wanted to go. I have life long not wanted to go. But, she gets what she wants. I will always try to make it happen. While this was not the typical way many on here care to fish, or the fish most commonly targeted, it was pretty much my only opportunity. So I took it. Yes, it was cane pole fishing off of a tiki dock. In a stocked pond /lagoon with tilapia and carp. They feed these fish with pellets and only allow you to fish with dough they provide. And only off of this dock. The fish swam right on through the baits as if it was a mine field. Some interested fish would watch as I tried my best to keep the dough on top, to try to imitate the pellets. Weather was great, and I did conquer my fears. Sincerely, FISHLESS in Hawaii.
  8. Glad you are still participating with them.
  9. The amphicar, or amphibious car, is an attraction you can pay to be shuttled on. They have one on the landing with rates. Tiki Hut, well that is neat looking, I think.
  10. It does say they feed on the fish's blood for nutrients. About 1:45 mark.
  11. So, I am truly curious. A fighter jet has one engine I believe, and most commercial jets have 2 even 4 engines. I can usually hear the fighter jets long before I can focus on them. But the commercial jets, not so much. Why is that?
  12. Looks great. The sandwich sounds excellent. I may have to give this a go.
  13. Any advice on how to cast/swing them clousers? I was ok with a casting rod. What weight rod?
  14. LOL, try telling your wife you are going to stay at one of their houses overnight. Then she says what's his name, and you say @Ketchup . Then have to explain that you dont know his real name, nor met him. Or reverse that and have to tell your own wife you are letting a guy you never met stay in your house. LOL. good times.
  15. Happy birthday to you. You moderate this zoo, you have been tough on Mr Wrench, but I'm sure it's what you have to-do. Best I've got.
  16. The wind was BRUTAL. I was at Bush's Wildlife Area in St Charles. Inwill work on getting a fish on the long rod.
  17. Caught my first fish on one of my own tied flies. Full disclosure, I was using an ultra light spinning rod.
  18. I have met many. Thanks to the forum, I have fished with @Johnsfolly, and @gotmuddy outside of the group meet ups, and I met @Haris122 at the river while I was on a lunch break. haven't missed anyone. I met @Mitch f, @Hog Wally and @Smalliebigsin person at a smallmouth Alliance meeting.
  19. I have learned of mirror carp. Well, have known of them for a few years, but always curious about the scales. Are they only where you can see them? In patches? Or ar they just in a pattern that you do not see the less obvious scales?
  20. Ther is a MO fishing Facebook page. Someone posted about gear found, but no area information was given. May try to post on there.
  21. I really dont see where you can justify not using your equipment due to $20-50 more per outing. I do things differently than most. My vehicles are older, no payments. My "big boat" is a 14'er with a 9.9 Merc from 76. I would give up many things before letting my vehicles sit. Buying a new version of something that costs more/monthly than the difference in fuel then versus now just doesn't add up.
  22. I think it was what people used before the Ned Rig.
  23. The more I think about it, it reminds me of a magic trick. The fish is still acting as it should. It is swimming. The trick is the vehicle is created to respond to the fish. The fish would swim from place to place in its normal setting. It still is.
  24. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/watch-this-fish-out-of-water-drive-a-mini-vehicle-on-land-180979328/ Another story about it. I dont know how to find it on thedodo.com their search engine is not great. I put the title in exactly as written and it brings up completely different stories.
