I am told that the Mississippi River "stocks" the lakes in the park during the floods. A few years ago we went and my now 11 year old son caught a bowfin. I had NO idea what it was. It unhooked right as we were swinging it over the boat. I got a good look at it, and explained it to a guy in the parking lot. He called it a dogfish. We looked it up and eventually found it to be the bowfin. Let me tell you, it was concerning me that no one would believe me. It was as ugly as a fish I've ever seen. Teeth spaced, barbells like a catfish, scales and a long forehead. Lol. No telling what is in that park. I enjoy it.
They also rent boat, and kayaks in the park.
