  1. Be the ball, be the lure.
  2. I remember very well. We will be visiting it soon.
  3. Looking at the picture, it does clearly look like a spot. Especially since you pointed out the lateral lines and the spotted belly. But yesterday in the sunlight is sure look to be a bronze / gold color and that red I really got me excited. Is it common for them to have a red eye even when the not Smallie / goggle-eye?
  4. What is the approx waist size? Guess I could look it up. *interested.
  5. I can promise the eye was red. The area we were at is not known for smallies at all, but like I say, it had the red eyes burning in the light. I don't see the spot resemblance. I know you know smallies, not trying to deny what you see.
  6. My son and I were invited to join my neighbor to go fishing. We met up on the spot and proceeed to fish. My son brought our minnow trap. He is very interesed in it, and wanted to catch something. I was throwing the Ned. He was using a popper. We seen a couple of beds. I explained to him what they were, and how they are made. He tried to catch the fish protecting one nest, but no takes. We left that area and caught up with our neighbor. He was pulling in a drum as we walked up. I continued to throw the Ned and had a couple takes, and while reeling in, they let go. Sunfish. Then I got a real good taker, and was fighting with very light line, but it stayed deep. It was a decent fight, but then it let go. Never got to see it. Could have been anything in this hole, from a turtle to catfish to a white bass to a walleye. My boy checked his trap, had a few baby blue gills. I told him that he could use one for a big catfish, he was interested. He got one hooked, all by himself. Casted out and thought he had another snag. My neighbor calls out, you have a Fish!, my son acts like nothing going on. He pulls in his first smallmouth.
  7. Yes, we met on two weekends ago. It was raining and he ducked under our fly for cover. While bs-ing into the evening, we found out we attended the same high school. He is one year ahead of me. We talked again this weekend. He is a genuinely good guy. Most people in scouting organizations, are great people. I have been around it most of my life. This is the first in a long time of triple weekend campouts. Very long time. I'm wore out.
  8. So, as the title states, I have camped out with Boy scouts for the last 3 weekends. We did get to fish last weekend in a private stocked pond. Snag city. Many of the boys never casted a pole before. I had many rods/reels donated a few years back from a customer of mine. I have slowly reworked each one and salvaged what I could. 3 fish were caught, 1 crappie and 2 catfish. Nothing huge for any of them, but ok size for the boys. This weekend we cleaned and filleted them. The boys got their hands dirty, and learned some fish anatomy. They also learned how the meat they buy is processed. I will fry them up tomorrow for our meeting.
  9. That's a neat and tempting offer. I have a week of Scout summer camp in June, and we are trying to do the Eastside Bass Tournament in June. If you have a another option later on please don't be shy.
  10. Seen a tackle HD sticker on the back of a Chevy pick up this evening. Festus area.
  11. How about "mercenary jaw"?
  12. I'msure the biggest McDonald's execs enjoy burger king from time to time.
  13. I don't see the problem/ argument with the golf tournament fund raiser. If I'm a boxer, and I join my church's bake sale it's ok, right?
  14. I am very envious! Great job you two! You have a great wife.
  15. I've heard of them... lol it's my agency.
  16. Auto insurance only transfers liability coverage. Any damage to your propety would not be covered.
  17. I was gonna bid, but it' gotten too rich for my postage budget.
  18. "It is so good, we can't even finish assembly...."
  19. Very nice of you to show us your ways.
  20. I have never been, but always heard good things about it. How far for St Louis is it?
  21. Keep in mind, though different states have different laws. That translate into different pricing. Also, your "garaging zipcode" (place you primarily store your boat) will factor into your price also. I learned that the hard way with my first car. I bought it from a friend of mine, we were same age, and lived only a few blocks from each other. We used the same company, as our parents each had the same one. My insurance was $80/month higher. I lived in a higher rates zip code. Ketchup, call an underwriter and ask for a copy of the "policy definitions". It will be the bible of what is and isn't covered.
  22. Cool beans. Thank you Phil, for all you do.
