  1. What size do you tie yours in? Are yours weighted? And how are you fishing it? What I found unimpressive about it, in stillwater, is that any weight added to the hook flips the fly upside down like a dead cockroach. Bob Clouser designed one REALLY GOOD fly.....then he went totally rogue, so that anything with his name attached to it just has to be tried. Can't tell ya how much time, material, and frustration that has cost me. There's an old-school nymph called a "Casual Dress" that is quite similar..... yet"tyed in the round" so that no matter the orientation the effect is the same. Polly Rosburough I believe is credited for it. Caught a lot of Smallies on that one before the Pine Squirrel Leech came along. The PSLeech eliminated my need/want to ever tie another Casual Dress. πŸ‘
  2. I have. IMO there's nothing it can do that a similarly sized Wooly bugger can't do better. 90% of fly patterns are nothing more than the result of boredom at the tying vice. My advice is to skip the Clouser swimming nymph, and concentrate on tying better WB's. πŸ‘
  3. Just what the world needs. More fo-fo little lap dogs that can't survive a night outside. πŸ™„ Fear the cuckleburrs and stick-tights !
  4. Oh I dunno....... I've had my butt handed to me far too many times by 18-22 year olds to agree with that. You can have a good day and squeek out a victory from time to time, without using FFS, but at the end of the season you're gonna be sucking hind tit.
  5. Two strokes is about all I'd be good for with that one.

Oh Bullspit! πŸ™„ I wanna be able to PICK UP a piece of cornbread. If it ain't golden brown then you have to eat it with a spoon. πŸ˜‹

I chunked up a mediocre sized blue cat a month ago, and apparently cut the chunks too thick. It didn't cook well enough in the center.....and it was downright nasty. With any fried fish I think the thickness of the fillets/pieces needs to match the temperature of the grease. I'm used to cooking white bass/crappie fillets at 400Β°......but those catfish chunks would have been burnt on the outside way before the center got properly cooked. Lowering the temp of the grease probably would have saved that meal.
  8. Christmas 2022 didn't disappoint, for sure. Your life isn't complete if you don't have crafty hillbilly neighbors πŸ‘ πŸ™‚
  9. That'd be grounds for immediate separation if it happened in my house.
  10. And they all provided a house, some property, plenty of groceries (apparent by all of those fat rear ends) and kept the lights on year after year after year..... If the average woman truly cared, and took better care of their mate/provider, then they might live longer. Jus'sayin'.
  11. I blew off the vehicles and the deck. Worked like a charm, and my 2-stroke leaf blower started on the 2nd pull in 0Β° temperature πŸ‘ We only got about 1.5 inches. A far cry from the 20" everyone around here was convinced that we were in for. πŸ™„
  12. Black, brown, purple, tan, and rusty orange have all been culled from my boxes. If I was headed to Michigan though I'd have a dozen of what's in your vise πŸ‘
  13. Leech patterns are my main go-to savior no matter where I'm at. I can't remember ever getting skunked with a Mohair, Ostrich, or Pine squirrel leech tied on. And I only carry 2 colors and 3 sizes. As long as their in the water you can't fish them wrong.
  14. Statistically, here at Lake O, 1 out of 26 winter kayak outings ends on a bad note. 14 seasoned yakkers went out of Shawnee bend last week in a little derby, the wind kicked up a bit and only 11 finished the day relatively dry and unscathed.
  15. Not surprised, they are the greatest rod co. ever. I'm kinda rough on my rods at times though, and I can't bring myself to throw 700-900.00 rods around casually.
  16. Are they 4pc.? I've yet to break a 4pc. but the 2pc. flyrods that I have snapped always go about 4-6" above the middle ferrule. So an extra tip section for a 4pc. might not help me. I have a wad of 2pc tip sections that I saved for guides and tips to prove it. I have a Sage Bolt 9 for 8 that is my LM Bass rod. Hope I don't break it cuz they don't make them anymore, and haven't for quite a few years. My favorite SM rod is a 7wt. St.C Legend Elite 4,pc.......no getting that one replaced ever either. πŸ™„
  17. Who swings them ? Here's a few standards, and a Marabou done thunder creek style. Gimme some more inspiration πŸ™‚
  18. Oh I dunno....... A free hand job is awarded for everytime you $#!t the bed.
  19. During my online dating phase I was blown away (several times LITERALLYπŸ˜‰) by the number of nurses on those sites. They are your safest bet when doing the online dating thing because they all have the same MO. What they truly want is for a doctor to fall in love with them, and they are saving themselves for one...... so as long as you're not a doctor there's no worry of them getting overly serious and hanging on forever. You can always tell which day that special doctor is making his rounds too, because she'll have a certain outfit picked out for that day. And hair and nail appointments are set accordingly. πŸ˜… The best night for a date is the night immediately after Dr. SoandSo has failed to notice her. πŸ‘
  20. I had to come check this thread to see how I spelled PENGUIN. Was playing Scrabble last night and tried to spell it with a Q ....... and then I got completely indignant when they tried to call me out on it ! πŸ€” Total brain skid! I might be starting the slow gradual slip into senility πŸ˜‚ I know that you guys here will keep a close eye on my BS, and be sure to call me out immediately if I start showing signs of similar ignorance. I promise I'll thank you for it! πŸ‘ One more request if you don't mind:. If I have to be put in a nursing home, make sure it's the same one as Oneshot and Billethead so we can chase nurses and sneak off to sip whiskey and smoke cigarettes together. P-E-N-Q-U-I-N........ It still looks like proper English to me. Scary!
  21. I think the old "on the feet of ducks" theory was debunked long ago. It can happen with amphibians and some aquatic insects.... but not with fish. Once the outside of the egg is exposed to open air it hardens, quickly forms a skin over it.....and hatching is impossible. Duck feet allegedly don't hold enough moisture.
  22. Ya don't say !!!!! My goodness, where have we heard of THIS TYPE OF THING before? πŸ€” May I now inquire as to why they don't treasure the genetic integrity of our native White bass?
  23. There are 7'9" and 8'4" one piece blanks that would work, but you'd have to custom build it I think. It would be hard to pick a 5/6 blank without being able to feel it first because they aren't marketed as "flyrod blanks". As for Piscifun..... I'm really not sure. There's nothing on any of their rods or reels that says "made in China", and I know that at least part of their assembly happens in the UK. And St.Croix doesn't spin the Imperial blanks in house, they are imported. The word "Imperial", the word "Piscador", and the fact that anything I try to order direct from Piscifun with my debit card results in my bank flagging it and calling me for confirmation on a transaction in England......is all I have to go by. If you take a Piscifun Sword and a St.Croix Imperial rod out in the sun and look at them side-by-side it's a dead match (shade of color, degree of transparency, scrim wrap spacing, and all). There's also the curious coincidence that Piscifun emerged right about the same time that St.Croix went STUPID.
  24. Me and a buddy stopped and wade fished it on the way home from the Current once. Looked good but we only found a couple of little largemouth on that particular day. It's a pretty stream.
