What do you suppose is the ecological benefit of dead & decaying insects? Fertilizer? Crude? Why does there have to be SO MANY of them? 🤔. The only reason that people aren't blaming all their little ailments on DEAD INSECT DUST is because they simply haven't thought of it yet. 🙄. Just wait ! During a huge cicada hatch the smell in the air is nauseating. "Oh my, everytime it's dry and the breeze kicks up my ant corpse allergies just immobilize me". 😝 Speaking of ant corpses..... y'all should see all the Ant Lion funnels under my wife's hummingbird feeders. The circle of life.

I gotta tell you this story on me, and the reason I'm telling it is twofold....#1. because it's funny. And #2. because I want you pranksters to know that I'm too aware of things to fall for it. 😁. I got a small box in the mail awhile back, something very light was inside rattling around and I didn't recognize the name from which it came from. I just knew that it was one of my OAF haters, and that they had gifted me a bigass wolf spider. 🤬 I took it out in the middle of the driveway and opened it with a garden rake and a machete, and took a full can of carb cleaner with me. Turned out to be an ignition key, a business card, and a note 😅 Somebody had dropped off a boat and forgot to leave the key.

I've got a pretty good dove shooting tip for ya that will improve your shot to kill ratio if you're low on ammo...... Focus solely on the beak, not the bird. And don't shoot until you can clearly distinguish its beak, and then touch off the shot as soon as you swing ahead of that beak. That little gray rocket will fold up every time. 👍

My daughter and I once spent an entire afternoon/evening making caviar from White bass eggs. Found instructions online, it was quite a process. It ended up tasting like Salt flavored jello..... Absolutely disgusting. Have tried Crappie and walleye egg-sacks battered and fried too. Not very tasty at all IMO. Y'all can have it 👍 Enjoy.

You can stiffen up a soft or sagging hatch lid with a piece or two of 90° aluminum riveted to the bottom.

SIGNS - about no Bait Fishing below the dam
fishinwrench replied to Brian K. Shaffer's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Yeah, he loves to set everybody on the straight and narrow! Deputy Doug ! 😳 I had to practically knock him unconscious to keep him from doing a "citizens arrest" on me for putting on felt soled Boots. -

No kidding! I'd rather have a dozen guys drifting nightcrawlers 🙄 Who cares?! -
20 years ain't old. My Ranger lids are 32 years old, and probably have at least another 20 left in them.
-
What's wrong with the lids ?

A few of them move to the lake here too, I'm sure. But I don't think river/stream fish thrive there by any means. If they did then surely I'd catch more of them. Or at least SOMEBODY would. I could draw some lines on a map, across feeder creeks, and feel confident enough to bet you 10k that you couldn't catch a smallmouth below them....and I would give you a full year to try.

Don't flatter yourself 🙄 Let me tell you a little fact about ladeees, just in case you haven't already figured it out...... They only remain in THAT kinda mood for about 4 hours, and it's usually once every 2 months around the full moon if she's not being tended to by someone. If you cared enough to keep a log book and study it you could actually compile a "Solunar Table" that would be far more accurate than the ones compiled for fishing success. It doesn't matter who's hanging around making her giggle during that 4-6 hour period of time.....Could be the man of her dreams, or it could be the face-tattooed trashman with rotten teeth...... but THAT is who is gonna be the one to get invited to the party. Then a week later you're public enemy #1 unless she thinks that she can't do any better.

The Smallies in my little creeks here, for whatever reason, don't migrate to the lake. I can count the number of small mouth I've caught from the Gravois arm of the lake in over 30 years, on one hand. They settle into cracks and crevices in the bedrock bottom areas.....which I assume have some spring seepage. During warmish sunny spells in the middle of winter you can sometimes spot a few cruising over the bedrock in 1-3' of water. They are spooky as hell, and will disappear in a flash if they notice any movement at all. Believe me, I've tried.

Maybe it's the result of public education during the early 70's. Do you think for a minute that they'd take 4th graders on a field trip to a meat processing plant TODAY ? NO FREAKIN' WAY ! 😂 Airgun shoots a rod through the cows brain. After it stops violently spasming they hoist it up by the back legs, lop off it's head and spill its guts into a wagon, then rip off the hide. Hose it off, then wheel it into another room to be quartered and chilled. These are things that today's kids know nothing about. I gotta stand my ground here. Getting to see all that PLUS a first hand boob flash from a cute teacher.......Way better than an afternoon of wandering around Graceland.

Osage County Guns robbed in a smash in grab
fishinwrench replied to Quillback's topic in Weapon Discussions
I hate thieves.....but I gotta admit that a well planned and executed caper, complete with a clean getaway, is a thing of art. Especially when it's a slap in the face to over-regulated Idiocracy like our current firearms laws. Does anyone remember back in the '80's when that group of STILL UNKNOWNS were snatching combines and tractors from farms in Missouri and Iowa ? I mean....Right out from under their noses!!!! Dude, what an amazing feat ! 👏 That's like someone stealing your refrigerator while you're in the kitchen cooking dinner! 😅🤟 -
Coastguard or state laws
fishinwrench replied to Maverickpro201's topic in General Angling Discussion
I don't think there's a regulation on the length of it. I was in in a cove fishing once and a dude fell out while trying to retrieve a stupid koozy cup. Boat going around in big circles at about 3000RPM. I figured it was every man for himself, so I immediately stowed the TM, threw my rod down, put my boat on plane inside the NoWake area, wished him well.... and shot out of that cove like a rocket. I heard the next day that the operator made it to safety, and the boat ran aground after totaling 3 docks with boats in them. -
Just considering that brings back memories of a 4th grade field trip to a meat processing plant. 3 kids (1 boy and 2 girls) puked, and a teacher fainted..... causing a boob to fall out, and she sprained her ankle. Definitely a banner day ! 👍

Pontoon, old runabouts, and Bayliner scrapyards.....yeah there's a few. But I know of none with any Ranger bassboats in the mix. If you have the old lid, or a matching one, I can teach you how to make a mold and build one from fiberglass and plywood. It isn't too terribly difficult.

Still suffering here. 😞 But if you're ever faced with this ailment, here's the best PT that I've found. Be patient. If you've really got it like I do, then you're gonna be in for a long ride. 4-8 weeks.

Yeah me too! -
When I was a kid my mom had an employee, Japanese immigrant, that would come by the house to visit occasionally, with her pet monkey, Bolo. She really thought it was something special..... but I hated the stupid thing. I put an abrupt end to those "monkey visits" by ACCIDENTALLY letting my dad's bird dog in the house while they were there. No more visits from Bolo after that! 👍 😁

Coastguard or state laws
fishinwrench replied to Maverickpro201's topic in General Angling Discussion
All clubs should (and most do) make their own safety rules, and make them even further toward the cautious side than state laws require. *CG Approved PFD's on anytime the outboard is running. *Kill switch attached anytime the outboard is running. *Running lights on during low light, fog or rain. But where ALL CLUBS turn a blind eye, is...... Sufficient liability insurance. Because, if kept strict, that rule would immediately cut their membership by 2/3. -
Speaking of "points" and "meteorological soup"...... What is the point of "extended forcasts"? Why do they even bother trying, when 70% of the time they can't even accurately predict 48 hours into the future?
