Some (myself included) use a wrist lanyard. Just run your hand through it as you reach for the ignition switch. And yep.....I forget more than I wanna admit.

Yamaha. Hands down. But I sure wouldn't buy one. Who the hell wants a 25-30hp outboard that you can't lift off the transom without an engine hoist ? Or one that can never be rebuilt when the plastic components in the powerhead get brittle or sloppy. Because lord knows that even if you do decide to agree paying 34 hours worth of shop labor to have it done......the parts to do it properly will NOT be available. And neither will a replacement powerhead be available. It is a disposable outboard. Have you ever heard of someone having their 4-stroke lawn mower or motorcycle engine rebuilt? No! Because it isn't cost effective. You just go buy a new mower/or bike and throw the old battle-axe in the dumpster. Same deal with all small engine 4-strokes. Outboard 4-strokes are no different.....they just cost even MORE. But a 2-stroke outboard/dirt bike/chainsaw/whatever......you can rebuild that sucker a dozen times, economically, and make it run as good as new (if you know what you are doing). That's why I love them so much. 🙂 My two personal primary outboards are 30-32 years old, and if you rode with me your impression would be...."Wow those are some easy starting, smooth and strong running motors. And gee, they aren't even smoking like everybody says 2-stroke outboards do". And neither have ever even been overhauled. Yet. Keep any 4-stroke outboard alive and well for half that amount of time.....and I'll buy you a night out on the town. 👍

Those 2-stroke Lawnboys were the quietest mower ever, though, weren't they? Figure that one out. 🤔 And light as a feather in comparison to any Briggs & Stratton unit.....which is the reason why so many folks loved them. When it comes to mowers, I've always had clunky old 4-strokes. Only my candy-assed neighbors that belonged to the "Country club" had Lawnboys. 😅

It is amazing to me how this 4-stroke campaign has worked. People have just been totally convinced that a 4-stroke is the best option. They have no understanding of mechanics at all....but yet that little tidbit of intel is so solidly concreted into their brains that nothing will change their minds. 4-stroke=GOOD......2-stroke=BAD......yet nobody can explain WHY. You'll hear:. "Because it's clean/green", or "because it's quiet". But IS IT? And if so, then WHY? And even if the above is proven to be true, and is BECAUSE of the 4-stroke design.....Is that what TRULY MATTERS to the consumer? Over and above all else? As a student of psychology I'm just really interested in how "they" did that???? And it makes me wonder how many other things in life have been implanted in the brains of the masses, so effectively. There are some wicked good marketing geniuses out there, and if any of us could become one of them... we could be filthy rich almost overnight. If I possessed those powers I could sell every dandelion and blade of grass on MY OWN yard for 1000.00 apiece.....and it couldn't be from just anybody else's yard either. It would have to be a Dandelion from MY specific property.

Seeking inflatable Pontoon Boat
fishinwrench replied to Brian K. Shaffer's topic in Buy - Sell - Trade
Everything "boating" related is automatically twice as expensive as it has any business being. Even in the USED marketplace. And even simple paddle craft. Basically, if it floats, or attaches to anything that floats..... expect to pay alot more.......just because. 🙄 -
Men's spring camp out and fishing trip done for 2022...
fishinwrench replied to Steve McBasser's topic in Table Rock Lake
It has been many years since I did any guide trips, and all of mine were bass, catfish, white bass, or crappie. The bass guys never wanted to keep any. Not even once. .....and social media wasn't a thing back then so the only pics taken were Poloroids 😅 The Catfish, crappie, and White bass guys almost always wanted a mess to take home......and about 50% of them preferred to clean them theirselves (which always thrilled me). 😉 -

Not yet, but he did try to sit in my lap when I was moving the boat from spot to spot. Until he learns how to cook fish and cornbread I'm really not that interested. 🙄

I go by the "Golden brown" rule with fish, and cornbread, and french fries. I didn't realize that Doug was color blind, and we got into a big fight in the kitchen. It's all good though......or at least it WAS until he kicked Orion out of his bed and hurt his feelings. 😥

When I was a kid there was a place we would stop into, called "Bad-eyes" near Louisiana, Mo. on the Mississippi. Bait shop/restaurant. Tables right next to the minnow and crawdad tanks...... I'm sure that would be a major health code violation today. Anyway, about 20 years later I was all grown up and on my own, and I was in the area so I stopped in...... Absolutely nothing had changed. Same bait tanks, same tables and chairs, same food 😋 What a cool feeling that was. I hate constant change. I wanna live in a world where things stay the same !

Any place with a "media guy" is way too foo-foo for the likes of ME. 😁 Your place is already a destination. 👍

Yet another school with the doors wide open and no security guard. Call 911 ! Stricter animal control laws need to be brought before congress. 🥴

I'm not sure that I understand the MDC's showcasing of resources that they put forth ZERO effort to maintain. Wild trout?......and now Smallmouth? What has the MDC done there recently? What they should be pounding drums about is Hybrid Stripers, or Spoonbill. Or maybe Walleye...... Because those are the only fish species that they seem to actually care about.

Gray Marine Fuel Line Issue
fishinwrench replied to TableRockBoater's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
They still do.....Which blatently exposes the ignorance of the whole EPA FUEL HOSE compliance. Right? Let's concern ourselves with permeating hose while those sloppy POS dripping Qwik-Connects are making a mess of RAW FUEL all over everything. Especially now that fuel tank vents are a thing of the past, and there is 30psi of pressure built up in the tank and fuel supply hose on a nice sunny day. Brilliant ! 🙄 At least we now have a use for all those stray 3/32 & 5/64 drill bits. -
With gas prices being what they are, this is a very economically stimulating "slam". Ya reckon MDC is concerned about a potential dip in their sales tax cut ? I'm holding out until June 30th at midnight, for the Bullfrog, and Lightning bug Slam.

Gray Marine Fuel Line Issue
fishinwrench replied to TableRockBoater's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Most little motors do, yeah. I didn't realize that you were talking about the fuel supply assembly. Thought you were referring to all the other assorted hoses under the cowling. I'm back on track now. 👍 Pre-fabbed fuel supply/primer assembly's are so rediculously expensive that I just assumed that nobody purchased them anymore. Way cheaper to build your own. Like 25.00 cheaper. Plus, you can put the primer bulb wherever you want it. (Arrow pointing to Jupiter) -

If the line assembly is removed then you already got the dang clips off ! So what are you stressing about? 😂 -
Gray Marine Fuel Line Issue

Side cutters. Good ones 👍 It takes a bit of practice. Grinders near fuel......BAD PLAN ! 😳 -
Ahhh, nope they don't "drink it" they LEAK IT. Constant drip-drip-drip from the vertical carb shafts. Guess who knows how to rectify that ? 😁
