Water in the fuel will shut her down. Is the motor equipped with a "fuel cooler" ? Some Mercs are so equipped, and a cracked one will contaminate the fuel on the High Pressure side. Pretty common. Part of the winterization process includes draining the fuel cooler.

I found one, perfect size/perfect shape about 10 years ago at Fort Bennett for less than 30.00 and it has served me well. It'll handle 24 inchers. I keep thinking that I owe it to myself to own a fancy 200.00 landing net.....but I just can't get myself to do it.

What makes you think that? 🤔 There's plenty of guys spending plenty of money around here on gigging and bowfishing boats. I can't imagine why they wouldn't be getting used. As a matter of fact, there's considerably more of it going on now than there was 10-15 years ago.

I used to go to Turkey shoots at the local Elks lodge, and would bring them home like that. I had an Ithaca lever action single shot 12ga. that would practically blow a tennis ball sized hole around that little X 1 out of 3 times. Gotta get your bird and get out of there quick.... because by 2:pm everyone is drunk and swinging shotguns around. Not cool ! 😳

Yeah well, I owe it to you guys....for putting up with me. 😊 Just recently I've had a most likely temporary boyfriend of my daughters, and a husband of one of my wife's friends both wanting to learn about flyfishing, and hitting me up for mentorship. Now I know darn well that neither are going to stick with it, so instead of just blowing them off cold (which is what I wanted to do), I sent them both to Charlie Reading.....so he could waste HIS time.

IMO they are the healthiest and best tasting fish in freshwater. Fast growing & Short lived, so there's less time for them to accumulate mercury and other contaminates. They spend most of their time in open water, instead of along the bottom. They don't even spawn on the lake/river floor. And the food that they eat is also short lived....and spends all of its time in open water/not along the bottom. If there's a better fish fit for human consumption I sure don't know what it could be. 👍

I'll tell ya what drives me crazy, and really I have no patience for it at all.....is all these people that act like they want to be taught things ( fly fishing, fly tying, processing deer, ect.) and they try to make you feel bad for not taking the time to teach them. But yet they spend countless hours watching tic-toc videos or playing games on their "devices". If they truly had any interest in learning how to do these things then they'd be searching, watching, and reading about it.....but they don't. What they are actually doing is playing HEAD GAMES. What they really are trying to do is to make you think they wanna do it..... but just don't know how. It's BS. They should just say, "I'm lazy and have no ambition, will you DO THIS for me?"

My favorite time period is from Midnight until 3:00am. Everything is calm & quiet, the phone isn't ringing, and nobody is pulling into the driveway. There's just something about pissing off the deck while looking at the moon & stars, that's sets life straight.

Congrats on getting into a school of females. I've seen egg production in White bass as early as mid-September. Sometimes the egg sacks are chock full, so I think they start developing as early as July/August (basically within a month of their last spawn).

While we are discussing glasses......I can't seem to find a pair of very light amber tinted lenses. I need a pair for low light situations. Kinda like "night driving glasses" but polorized.

What a great fish ! 👍 I've noticed on my last 2 trips down there that the scuds seem to be far more scarce. A few years ago my boot laces and gravel guards would be loaded with scuds after being in the water awhile. Didn't notice a single one on the last few trips.
