  1. Yep. The cylinder head got hammered though. So considering the cost of a piston, a port cylinder head, and the price of boring/sleeving the #6 cylinder, my recommendation would be to just purchase a reman powerhead....and then sell the crankshaft and connecting rods (they sell fast). You can then use THAT money to put a better trolling motor on the boat and give that dinosaur Motorguide to some poor basturd that needs one. It comes with 2 Helix 7 units (front and back). I know what they'll accept as an offer......but I'm not posting it on here because I don't want y'all showing up at the same time and fighting over it in my front yard. 😉 Hint:. I wouldn't post it on here if it wasn't a really sweet opportunity. I just want the powerhead swap job out of this deal.
  2. Dead sticking a big tube bait is a solid fall pattern that works when the river is a conveyor belt of leaves. Find deeper boulder holes, toss a big tube out there, let it sink on a slack line, tighten up on it, and just let it sit 15-25 seconds. No bite....crank it in and do it again.
  3. I'd be happy to, if you don't mind the wait. I'm booked solid for the next 2 weeks. Could possibly squeeze it in sooner if delays happen on other jobs.
  4. The shifting issue may be a neutral safety block issue. Look under the flywheel and confirm that the neutral safety block mechanism is working properly (your throttle should only advance 1/3 while in neutral, and you shouldn't be able to start the motor unless it is in neutral). The engine tilt mechanism also can effect the shifting, since reverse lock has to engage and disengage. As for the reseal job....it isn't difficult really, but does require a few specialized tools and some education. Might not be a bad idea to have the gearcase opened up and inspected, so yeah.....take it somewhere and pay the dude.
  5. For me it seems to be all about figuring out the right location and technique for the moment. Once I'm locked in on the where's and hows and can pretty well call my shots, then I can put down the rods and just enjoy being out there. If I go all day and never really figure it out.... I'll need to go again immediately, and my thoughts are about nothing but what I SHOULD HAVE tried. I guess I find comfort in just knowing that I can catch them.
  6. That's your cue to quit phucking with them.
  7. You certainly have. 😏
  8. Not everyone has been schooled on ethical fishing and boat handling. I'm still hearing stories of guys all pissed off because they got cut off and such during the Big Bass Bash. It's as if people think that is a professional level event or something. No man, it's open to anyone that has a fishing pole and can afford the entry fee. The same expectation should apply to any random day on public water. I mean you saw all the vehicles in the parking lot before you launched, right? Did you really expect that they were all out there being outstanding ethical sportsmen? 🙄 I mean, who walks into a rowdy bar expecting to be escorted to a chair?
  9. Come look, discuss the options, and make an offer. Owner is closing on a new house and just wants to unload it.
  10. I have to watch my daughter too! Her and her boyfriend came down to the river last weekend and went off fishing by themselves. I didn't realize until the next day that she went SHOPPING in my waist pack before they went, and then they split back for the city early the next morning. I'm sending her a friggin bill ! And she's getting a vise and a bobbin for Christmas.
  11. You need to just carry on a conversation with whoever your with, that goes like this: "So, when's your next court date, bro? The DATE is day after tomorrow, Sentencing. Sentencing?! How's that? I plead out last time so I could get bond. Why? Did they find the bodies? Found one of them. So what kinda time are you looking at? Who knows, I ain't fixin' to show up to find out either." They'll go find another place to fish pretty quick.
  12. I don't know why Merc called their 10' 110's And their 20's 200's It had to do with the ignition system I think. They were so proud of themselves when they eliminated points and distributors. The 115's were labeled 1150's too.
  13. Welcome. Those of us North of Tampa don't hunt with "weapons". 🤔
  14. Yes, the engineer that designed that has obviously never been fishing, even once. Send that bonehead back to the piano factory.
  15. When you hit it right, sure. One of my buddies made a comment of "Man, I'd love to live there!" I said No you wouldn't. That stuff you're watching only happens for 2 weeks out of the year....and only when conditions that year are just right. There isn't a dam thing to do there the rest of the year, you'd be broke and a stone cold alcoholic.
  16. What are we looking at here?
  17. Not sure how I feel about their new "No Stretch Core". Guys that do alot of mending, or guys that have problems with tailing loops will probably love them, but I've spent alot of time learning to CAST RIGHT, and to put my line down on the water where I want it to begin with, and my first impression is that it is too stiff and wirey. I hope they don't go to that design for all of their lines from here on out,....cuz I'm pretty sure I'll hate it. I'm surprised that their reps, who are usually really good casters and pretty good fishermen haven't bitched to them about it. It's probably a better line for beginners.....and maybe that's their target audience.
  18. I've been to way more concerts than I ever wanted to go to. My past girlfriend's and my first wife were all big-time concert goers. I've always hated crowds and the actual quality of the sound at most concerts sucks balls. I ran with a bunch of musicians growing up, and they hated all concerts... Except for their own, of course.....but those sucked too. They always sounded 10x better during practice sessions or jam party's.
  19. No they aren't connected. Both produce quality stuff. We got bored with the film and wandered back to camp. Cool footage of Canadian, BC, and Alaska trips where they hit the timing, spot on. But the narration and info on it was weak. The river fishing was tough and slow because of all the leaves. The park was super crowded, and also choked heavily with falling leaves. I made some good purchases on St.Croix, Redington, and Rio goodies, and got loaded up on freeze dried Skittles and Apple pie moonshine. That group selling bloody Marys made bank! Super fun weekend, just wish the fishing had been better.
  20. My parents left me at my great aunt/uncle's house and off they went. I was too young to understand until I hit my teens, but there was termoil about what they were going to do with me if my parents never came back. It was a genuine concern and I overheard the phone conversations, and overheard my Aunt and Uncle discussing it in the kitchen. There were no phone calls from them or anything....they just left and said they'd be back in a few days. They made it back almost a month later than they intended to. I sure was happy to see them. My aunt, uncle, and grandparents on both sides were PISSED! I have pictures they brought back. In one of the pics my dad is passed out on a soaking wet cot next to a graffiti covered peanut truck with a pistol on his hip and a flower in his belly button.
  21. It isn't the casting that kills my line, it's the sun mostly. Add in the rocks, the boat deck, and my feet.
  22. Well you just aren't fishing as much. 😉 I'm lucky to get 2 years out of a line. Waders and boots last about 3, but only because I wet wade whenever possible. Waist packs about the same. Creek shoes.....2-3 pair per year. I'm a consumer. You're a collector. 😅 Since the conclave and Sowbug didn't happen in AR this year they are expecting a decent turnout....but we'll see.
  23. Darn right it could! You should probably wear that goofy bicycle helmet or something. I get freaked out too. When the sun goes down everything on the ground looks like a spider, and everything in the trees looks like monkeys. Flashlights just make it worse. There's no safe space.
  24. Bats will home on on your fly, and have no trouble catching it mid-cast. I had it happen once in broad daylight. Luckily he hit the water, broke my tippet, and was able to fly away. I say luckily because I had no intentions on carefully unhooking him.
