Yeah a bunch of them are on YouTube. Usually the water isn't dead calm when the alleged offending boat comes by, so then you have a case where that person's wake just added fuel to what was already there. Wakes produced out away from the bank get larger as they approach the shoreline and collide with other wakes that are bouncing back. We call it the washing machine effect. To lay the blame of all that on one particular boat is something that courts just won't do.....and anyone with half a brain wouldn't let it happen if the courts even tried to. Sure there might be an instance where a boat comes plowing into a perfectly serene Golden Pond causing a destructive wake, someone just happens to get it all on video, and the video is clear enough to easily see the registration numbers, and clear enough to identify the driver. And it also captures things breaking under the stress of said wake. That guy probably WILL need a lawyer, and that lawyer will challenge the quality and value of whatever got broken. It's a stupid game. Here on LO people set up camera's all the time trying to get people busted for wake violations. They are wasting their time. And so are we, even discussing it. 😅

So much for Evinrude...
fishinwrench replied to kjackson's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Things are beginning to leak out. Evinrude is probably going to rule the recreational boating industry after all. 😊👍 Pretty sure EVERYONE is going to want this, and repowering your "old style" Ranger, Phoenix, Nitro, Skeeter, BassCat, etc. is NOT going to be an option. The coolness factor just went ballistic! And way more affordable to boot. -
😂😅 They mess around up here a bit at the mouth of the lil'gravi, but they've learned not to go busting out across the flats. They prefer to do their thing out in front of Coconut's where people can see them. Showing off is the big thing....which is probably why they keep getting closer to you. I think you need to clap more, fist pump, and give them lots of thumbs-up. Then they'll be satisfied and leave you alone. 😎

I don't like them either. I'm not into wakeboarding, but have you watched them? No denying it is a cool sport. I mean really cool ! To take that away from people, would suck! https://youtu.be/-SQ-r35JQk8 Is it cooler and healthier than bass fishing main lake points? Ewww, tough question!

Well, if I tell you how it really works, and you keep arguing with me..... Should I just throw a blanket on you and let you keep dreaming, or shake you and offer you breakfast? I'm sorry that the truth isn't always pleasant. Responsibility for wakes is like responsibility for snakes. Except that you can't chase them down and lop their head off. That means.....You are responsible for watching out for wakes. Period. There's plenty of warning.....boats make noise and are pretty easy to see, and wakes take a bit to get to you. GTFOW!

I'm fully aware of all that rhetoric, but the TRUTH is that you don't even need a lawyer to represent you. Just question that it was your wake that caused the damage....and keep your mouth shut from that point on, until the charge is dismissed. And rest assured that it will be. This is one of those instances where living in the REAL WORLD, instead of the dream world that many live in, will keep you from wasting your time and energy.

I bet you didn't know that I have a 22y/o step son. I don't talk about him much. Guess why? Lawn mowers, weed eaters, shovels, and rakes all give him crippling anxiety. Alarm clocks are a form of molestation and torture, because the time to wake up is when your body does it on its own. The only way to dispose of a paycheck, or a gift of cash, is to get another tattoo or piercing. I kicked him out at age 17 so he moved in with his grandparents, they gave him a car, he wrecked it and quit school halfway through his senior year. They bought him another car.....he ran it out of oil and blew the engine so they bought him another one. They allowed him to move in his girlfriend.....who had a warrant.....and when she got thrown in jail they bailed her out. The lovely couples way of saying "thanks" was to immediately become pregnant, and wreck the grandparents car. They gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, and I thought.... Well, MAYBE this will force them into reality. Nope, just forced them into experimenting with methamphetamine and getting more tattoos. Then one night the girlfriend decides she's breaking up with him. Suddenly he's distraught that he may never see his baby again....and threatens suicide, gets a mental evaluation and the result was that HE IS FINE. So the girlfriend and baby come back to love him again. Grandpa finally puts his foot down, kicks them out, and apologizes to me for thinking I was a heartless jerk for kicking him out in the first place. They are currently living with his real father in Arkansas, supposedly running a, most likely unlicensed, daycare. Which allows them just enough money every 2 weeks for each of them to get another tattoo. And there you have it. 🤔 Whenever his name is mentioned.....I leave the room.

It would be, if it wasn't a reality. When 30.00/hr. isn't enough motivation to show up and get a little dirty I'm absolutely at a loss for words.

Torx bits are the best broken bolt extractors ever unintentionally invented. Drill a hole, tap it in with a hammer.....out she comes. 👍

Not sure how the handle to rheostat connection is on that one, but it sounds like it has gotten off a bit. -

Are all speeds (forward and reverse) still there? Just the "0" position is off ? -
In an ethical sense, yes. In a legal sense....Show me a case# where it stood.

Yeah I learned that from a drunk and high airboat renter on Okeechobee.

As a guy that is around alot of older aluminum boats I'm gonna throw this out there..... Welded boats look and perform alot nicer, the ride feels more solid. But riveted boats have something going for them in the longevity department. I believe it is because they can flex and move (settle in). Older welded boats always have breaks all over the place. They can't flex when they need to. And re-welding broken welds just NEVER works well. Boats take more of a beating than you think. Both on the water, and on the trailer. There's a lot of science in the making of a good aluminum boat, and thicker more rigid aluminum isn't necessarily the answer. Just look at those old Richline boats! I challenge you to find one with cracks or leaky rivets. A few strategically placed hot rivets is far superior to even a beautifully perfect weld when it comes to boat manufacturing. I'll stand behind that 100%

If forced to choose, I'd catch the python. If I had to catch a gator by hand I think I'd rather it be a rather large one. Those 2-3 footers are way fast on the spin & snap action.
