  1. They just found someone in the water a couple hours ago. I imagine that all the details will be posted later this evening.
  2. I believe there's a 2 year old deer roast in the bottom of the freezer.
  3. Yeah I never see big gills on LO anymore. Used to know an old guy from Bonnets Mill that flyfished the bluffs (specifically docks along bluff banks) and caught big ol' lump headed monster blugill all the time. He wouldn't bother fishing anywhere else. For all I know that might still work, I've honestly never tried it. What is there for a bluegill to get fat on along a big mainlake bluff ?
  4. When I was a kid the roadrunners were very common on the gravel bars of the Salt river. They ate a steady diet of baby frogs during spring/summer. We have a pair now that hang around the driveway and in the road out front, but they are totally uninterested in the bird feeders. Are they strictly meat eaters?
  5. Very nice! My bluegill hole is having an off year. It produced big ones like that for 4 years straight, but now nothing but little 7 inchers. I got a tip on another pond but haven't been to check it out yet. This has inspired me to hurry up and go.
  6. Oh wow. I was thinking it was about the same as the distance between the wheelwells (pretty much 4' on a Chevy).
  7. Berkley Powerbait scent has stood the test of time. Whether it really truly works (as advertised) or not is almost a non-issue at this point.
  8. Well, how wide is the tailgate on a late '90's Ford F150 ? I'm a Chevy guy, so I haven't a clue. Surely it's at least 4', right ?
  9. Like the dream the governor's mistress had ?
  10. You'd better keep your mouth shut. Statute of limitations is 7 years, it's only been 5 months.
  11. Cool stuff! Glad y'all got out for a day. Work is slowing down a bit and hopefully my days to fish and goof off are coming soon. I have an interesting story regarding arrowheads on Corp property (imagine that! 😊). So an aquantance was "tending to a crop" on Corp land and got busted. When they found out how connected he was the authorities convinced him to join the drug task force, but in order for him to do that required the "felony charges" to be dropped. So, since when they first made contact with him he told the agents he was "hunting arrowheads", they expunged an old conviction, and reduced the current charge to "Disruption of an archiological site". (misdemeanor/50.00 fine). He worked on the task force for 9 years, setting up some real heavy hitters, then retired to a cute little place on the coast. And lived happily ever after.
  12. That kinda thing happens quite a bit. My dad made a good living because of it. If you did accounting for 250 facilities in Mo. during the '90's then you probably met him.
  13. I feel like I could add something meaningful to a prison population. 😀
  14. I have pretty much decided that if it ever looks like I might have to go to an old folks home I'd rather go to prison. I'd much rather die among a bunch of rowdy outlaws than a bunch of bible thumping droolers talking repeatedly about all the gardens they've had.
  15. 2:pm today, I'm doing a reed swap on a 200 Evinrude....a bat flys in the shop. I try to shoo him out but nope he finds comfort in the rafters so I put 6 pumps in the Crosman 1322 and help him off his perch. A half hour later a rooster begins to crow repeatedly up the road. I look at my dog, and he says (yeah he talks) "I wanna go inside". I said, no, buddy, you're staying out here with me.
  16. A real test of the best would start in the late Winter, 4 hour matches, double elimination, and would take all year to play out. Now something like that would be fun to follow. Each angler would be fishing against one other angler during each match. You could run as many matches per day as you could gather up official judges (if immediate release format was used).
  17. Hey what ya riding there, Tommy? Roll top desk!
  18. I don't think very many die, because bass are pretty tough and can take quite a bit of abuse and still survive. All I know is that a keeper bass taken out of the areas of the lake that I like to fish, and transported to areas that I don't like to fish, don't want to fish, or can't fish....might as well be dead. Therefore a few guys keeping and eating a dozen or so per year is a darn site better than 300 guys per month removing several thousand every month, just so they can try to be called a hammer.
  19. I dunno, but I'm not fishing in 40+ foot of water.
  20. We should do this, just to prove it can be done. I promise I won't cheat. I'll even swear on my kids lives if that helps. Actually, since everyone is a Christian here, why can't God judge these events? Give the big guy something to do besides creating another tsunami. 😊
  21. Hey, have y'all got any of those FEMA coffins? I'm thinking a couple of those, tie-strapped together, would make a sweet river floating boat.
  22. Yep, we could have tournaments right here on OAF. Launch wherever you want at the prescribed time and check in when you get off the water. It would be more fun than all that bagging up and standing in line holding a bag of water crap.
  23. There are plenty of people out there that need jobs. The money ain't a problem, that's obvious. Just up the entry fees enough to cover their wages. There's plenty of OOW or retired guys out there that would gladly sit and watch/score for the cost of lunch. Not to mention the guys running YT channels. Let them do it.
  24. The weights aren't any less impressive at any of the daily tournaments held at any of our lakes. And since it is so popular, and making so much $$$$ then why not make them all that way ?
