  1. All it takes is one time tangling with a hot temperate bass.....And they'll be trading those 4's and 5's for 7's and 8's real quick. ?
  2. I can always give up 18 seconds of fishing time for a round of Hanky Panky.
  3. Could very well be our only naturally reproducing Striper fishery. I'm officially moist with anticipation.
  4. So you think the bedroom is a safe place? How long you been married? ?
  5. Well kinda. In my little corner of the world I know of 2 accidental discharges so far. One inside a pawn shop, and another at the gas pumps. Nobody dead (thankfully) but there was blood and ambulance rides involved. Neither incident made the news. Kinda hard to believe these were the only two incidents in the state.
  6. If you tell this guy it's raining cats & dogs, and there is nothing furry falling from the sky.... You are a freakin' liar !
  7. Yep I remember that. Calico Kid ! Davis Bait & Tackle in Sunrise Beach (long closed), Beabouts in Osage Beach (also closed), and VanHooks in Camdenton (still open) were 3 of the main sponsors. Go by VanHooks and see if they have anything laying around. They are notorious hoarders.
  8. Well. It is Ol'Greg
  9. The crappie guys I saw today we're doing pretty good. Spider rigging in 6-8'.
  10. Yeah you'll spend plenty of time retrieving hang-ups, no doubt. I finally got out for 5 hours today, beginning about noon, and when I saw 55° at the Gravois ramp I got pretty excited. Grabbed the Redeye and went right to work. Today they were all on the shallow wood cover, but that isn't always the case. Sometimes they are just cruising the shallows and you just have to rip that RedEye close enough to one. She'll definitely take a swat at it. I ended my little trip with 7 keepers, the best 5 I guess in the 15-16 lb. range. Here's a few of the better ones. And look at the gut on this one !!!
  11. I killed a quail once that had a couple solid black feathers on it. I was afraid to eat it so I just gave it to the dog. My dad kicked my butt up between my shoulder blades. "I spent 3 months breaking that dog of chewing birds!", he said.
  12. One fish, two fish, why can't you fish?
  13. I think the ones I have are "Frabil" (cheapest POS on the market) and after some tweeking they work great. Actually the softer metal on the cheap ones makes it easier to bend and conform. You don't need high temper steel to do stuff that a fingernail can do. ?
  14. I knew a guy that in the Summer after hitting a few brushpiles and not getting bit he would pick up a jerkbait and save the day every time. I have tried that a bunch....But it never worked for me. I think you just have to believe in it and keep covering water. Patience is not a quality I possess.
  15. There are these things called Grinders, and Files. If you ever get a chance to play with them you'll find that "tools" can be improved upon really easily. ?
  16. I'm sure they did. 1 minute feels like 10 minutes in situations like that.
  17. It was brand new at the start of the day. ? I'm a little anxious to see how the 2-Tap compares to the original this year. As soon as the backend water hits 50° it's on.
  18. Time to dig out secret weapon #112
  19. The "too much oil" certainly didn't hurt the cylinders, connecting rods, or crank. The block won't even require any machine work, just a fresh hone and all new pistons.
  20. Bubblegum is worthless until they are on beds in dirty water, but then it is unbeatable. ?
  21. This is the result of an owner who after terminating the VRO system on his 115 Evinrude and switching to mixed fuel, he didn't realize that 16oz. was a pint, NOT a quart. Piston ring seizure from carbon buildup. You can see the heavily baked on oil deposits on the bottom side of all pistons. I figured this would be helpful info for anyone that thinks "extra oil is a good thing". 50:1 (1 pint per 6 gallons) is actually more oil than any 2S outboard engine needs.....So don't go adding extra splashes and thinking that your "safer that way". ?
  22. I have never in my life had a split ring fail. Does that happen?
  23. You can access it, just can't fish.
  24. I don't need a tournament partner, but if you just want to go fishing gimme a shout.
  25. You could hop across the toll bridge and launch at SB. That'd be less driving than Coffman from Lake Ozark.
