  1. Very cool! I like to add Angel hair or Lite Brite into my dubbing, but I usually do it by hand cuz my coffee blender tears up the mylar. Compressed air is the obvious answer I would have never thought of. Thanks
  2. Hey Laney, welcome to the circus and thanks for the vote of confidence from CWF, Phil, and Bugman. There's no adjusting the VRO pump, over-oiling is a typical and common VRO system failure, thats what they do when the diaphrams in the pump go south. If it is an older J/E (pre VRO2) then alcohol has deteriorated the diaphrams in the pump and ut needs to be upgraded to the new VRO2 kit with alcohol resistant components. If by chance it is the newer VRO2 then you have a pulse limiter failure that has allowed a lean sneeze backfire to rupture a diaphram. Either way the solution is to replace the VRO pump, pulse limiter, and associated hoses and circuitry. Dont fall for the VRO elimination/ mixed fuel suggestion that I'm sure you'll hear eventually (if you haven't already) because even if the oil injection function of the pump is disabled the VRO pump still has to supply fuel.... which it won't do for much longer since the diaphrams are most likely gradually disolving. I'm afraid its time to spend a little coin on her Hope this helps, Wrench ..
  3. Lets pretend that the guy with the tire iron was after the other guy for a real reason....let's pretend that it was for crotching his wife.... is it still ok to draw a bead on him? All you know is what appeared to be the situation from looking out your windshield. So, nobody with a CCW permit ever need to worry about getting his @$$ kicked ? Naa I can't go along with that business, not cool.
  4. The emergency kill circuit is designed to short out the ignition when it is pulled and the engine is running. After 1995 Johnson/Evinrude added a diode in the key switch that WOULD permit the engine to be started without the lanyard so that an onboard passenger could still start the engine in the event that the helmsman was thrown, or fell overboard with the lanyard attached to him..... otherwise passengers would/could be stranded afloat with no means to recover the overboard captain. Smart hu?
  5. The best procedure (providing that the linkage is properly synced and no other issues are looming) is to pump the primer bulb up tight, turn the key to the ON position and without cranking it push the key in and hold it in for about 8-10 seconds, then crank to start. Once started you can feed it a little raw fuel by giving it a squirt by pushing the key momentarily until she smoothes out and the idle stabilizes. Your 97 V4 has circuitry (called "QuickStart") built into the power pack that advances ignition timing during a cold start, so leave the throttle /fast idle alone. If it is still giving you a hard time then there are other issues.
  6. And yet ANOTHER CCW grad accident..... in church, yesterday. http://abcnews.go.com/m/story?id=15571614 Seems the best part about having a CCW permit is.....you can shoot someone, and say "Ooops!"....and No charges get brought against you. It's like immunity.
  7. What ever become of that poor basturd that sold some spoonbill eggs ? Man they hammered him ! If he got sentenced as hard as they were threatening to, he basically lost his life. That was a tad excessive.
  8. I was curious what floats the park offered and according to their website they only run shuttles on weekends, no alcohol allowed in canoes or rafts, and the only listed takeout is Ho Humm. Who ended up buying Ho Humm ? Last time I was there the new owner(s) were in the process of closing the deal on it.
  9. Is this the wrong thread to talk about my homeboy down the road who did 2 tours in Afhanistan and had no clue how to sight in, and install a sling on his newly aquired 7mm deer rifle? I've had no military experience whatsoever, but I'm curious....do they just hand those boys a weapon and put them on a plane? Even Forrest Gump learned to field strip his rifle.
  10. Yep. I feel plenty confident about my shooting ability's when at the range or out hunting, but I wouldn't trust my "snap shots while under surprise attack" to save anyones life. Earlier when I said I'd rather take my chances what I should have said, and what I meant to imply was that I'd rathe take my chances than to go about my everyday life in a "unrelaxed ready to defend at any second" type of mindset. And that is what it would take for me to be "prepared" yet safe at the same time.
  11. Late April to mid-May is hard to beat.
  12. I actually don't, that was never part of my point. But as the number of clumsy CCW permit grads increase I may soon fear them worse than I do an auto crash, especially since I only cover about 10,000 miles of road per year, yet am within range of 200,000+ of my fellow man in that same amount of time.
  13. I for one don't question the right to carry (concealed or otherwise), what I question is the reason to. I have a "god given" right to fart in public too, but I refrain from doing it unless it is ultimately necessary. What is everyone gonna do when criminals start wearing kevlar, and who's to assume they won't be?
  14. Oh hell, Larry..... just speak up will ya? You do email so I know darn good and well you are aware of OAF and pop on from time to time. Surely you aren't too aloof to accompany this discussion regarding YOU and your cause. The registration is quick and simple if you aren't already registered.....lets hash it out, wanna?
  15. True enough! If someone is staying in the park cabins or campground would they not be allowed to call for a cab, or call AAA if they had auto trouble? Or have a pizza delivered? Upon further thought this does seem to be a personal attack by the state on the people who choose to lodge there. Even requiring a fee payable by the outfitter is totally out of line. Any fee the park would impose upon them for "permission" wouldn't be any skin off the outfitters back, they'd just tack on an additional buck or two onto their rental fee.
  16. Not much really, it's fairly remote and a good place to "get away from it all".
  17. I did notice that ol'Bob was serious about making sure he collected his piddly parking fee from us last January at NRO. I've never been to hip on the way they TAKE CONTROL of the public access when they want to dump off a load of floaters. Riverfront doesn't pull that crap, neither does Adventure or Fort Niangua....only NRO. Burns, in all reality pretty much acts like he owns that darn river. Not too cool IMO.
  18. The dude has been on this crusade for long enough that if it was ever gonna lead to anything it would have by now. No doubt that most of his accusations are true but what is anyone ever gonna do about it? Nothin'.
  19. Nope, people NEED to stop living in fear of $#!t that isn't a realistic threat.
  20. Such an efficient "weapon" too! That POS is worthless at anything other than point blank range. You ain't gonna be a hero and save the day with a derringer, you'd be better off with a sling shot. Like I.said, I've sat at the range and observed some of these CCW permit grads, watched them fumble around loading their guns (as if it was a rubics cube) and more trigger slapping, flinching, and swing throughs than I ever care to witness. I find it hard to believe that I am the only one who has spent time at a shooting range and noticed this.
  21. LOL, Yeah the term "safely overloaded" is a bit of an oxymoron.
  22. The closed cell foam on some tennis shoes/flip flops could be a technicality, but it would really surprise me if you got hassled about it. My thoughts are that by the time Summer gets here the men behind badges are gonna be pretty tired of walking around looking at peoples feet.
  23. The rated max weight capacity in a jon boat is considering that the boat is moving under power, since it technically is a "motor boat". Another consideration is that in a wider boat the load is subject to shift to one side while under power (like if two 170lb. passengers scooted to one side at the same time, and then a heavy cooler or battery slid when it tilted.... and capsized the boat while under power). Ratings are based on safety, not necessarily on the amount of weight vs. water displacement that the hull is capable of. Then there is the manuverabilty issue, a heavy narrow boat is easier to maneuver via oars or paddles than a heavy wider boat. That's about the best way I know of explaining it. But the main rating issue has to do with being "underway with max rated power".
  24. That's pretty crazy. So you'd have to carry an unopened beer from your vehicle to a "safe zone"..... but you wouldn't be able to carry the empty can/bottle back ? Whaddaya do now? There ya are stuck in legal limbo .... standing there holding a bottle for all eternity.
  25. It's my undetstanding that the rule stands in all Mo. State Parks and has recently been enforced. I know alot of guys will slam a beer with lunch over the tailgate, and will likely continue to, but I bet the penalty would be pretty stiff. A boater anchored in HaHaTonka cove was arrested for it, tried to fight it and lost..... So I sure wouldn't chance it at Bennett. I'm actually not too sure that MDC accesses don't have the same ruling.
