That's becoming a problem all over the Ozarks. A very disturbing trend if you ask me.

Wild trout are much better than hatchery trout. But still not as good as crappie or bluegill or goggle eye or flathead. And don't even get me started on saltwater fish.

I was going to say much the same thing, and a few more. They live in some of the most fun places to visit on the planet. They're pretty. They're catchable, but not too easy to make it boring. You can often see them bite, which is really cool. They're fun to catch (put up a decent fight). Gearheads love any excuse to have another set of gear. They're just plain fun. But they don't taste all that good compared to a lot of other fish.

To clarify: It started a whole different approach to waterfowling and attracted a crowd that I honestly don't want to be around and that's just gotten worse over time.

With three guys we used to put out that many in about that amount of time. I read your method and it makes sense. Picking them up, bagging them and getting the boat loaded and back to the ramp was another matter. I never hated putting out lots of decoys except at Fountain Grove in that wader sucking mud, expecially when it was about an inch from the top of the waders. LIKE that you put out a ton of decoys.

Roboduck ruined a great sport.

When you're shooting singles, take turns. Keep your stupid face down. If you can't call, don't.

So many people over cook waterfowl. But your recipe doesn't and it sounds really good.

I'm interested. Muddy, I've got a 6 HP Johnson that would push your boat if needed. And the canoe. Last time I took a chance and went fishing with a bunch of strangers from OAF it was an absolute blast. Plus I learned a LOT.

Get a plastic boat now and you won't be sorry. Also don't sweat taking your kids, just make them wear a life jacket. You can always walk a boat through any tough spots.

Your intranet machine

Kayaks are great for day trips. The dog and I strongly prefer canoe or jon boat for overnighters. I camp heavy too, normally bring full sized cooler, lawn chair, folding table, a good sized dry box for food, stove, lantern, cooking gear etc. The soft stuff goes in dry bags. I sleep on a base camp therma rest in a semi-rectangular bag in a Timberline 4. Don't care for being cramped. Usually put up a tarp over the table area to help keep the dew and any sprinkles off. Somebody above mentioned taking a chainsaw in cool weather. Guilty of that too. I'm way more about the whole river camping experience than ever being focused totally on fishing. I've taken three day 8 mile float trips.

My Ipod in a little battery powered speaker box goes river camping with me. Bluegrass and good old classic country, some good whiskey, the river, my old dog laying by the fire. If that offends anyone, well, that's just too bad and your loss not mine. Also I always cook, even if it's just a bratwurst on a stick. Part of the deal for me. Put down one more vote for the Sealline dry bags.

Was it just me or was the broadcast quality of that game so horrid as to make it practically unwatchable? Looked like some cheap webcam or something.

I was on the river (actually Beaver Creek) Saturday and part of Sunday. Take out point was a remote low water bridge. There was a fish fry there Saturday night. Probably two dozen or maybe a few more carcasses laying on the bottom right below the bridge. Every single one was a sucker.
