  1. Progress!!!! Just a thought - muffs and a hose are easier than a trash can full of water if you have a place to swing that. And if it was mine, I'd be suspicious of a weak starter. Good luck, we all admire your perseverance on this massive project.👍
  2. 2 pound test line class world record carp. Unfortunately, not weighed or certified but it had to be 15 pounds. Downlake near Powersite.
  3. I'm thinking weather is highly secondary to fellowship, food and fun. Last year's deal was the most fun I've ever had on Taney. BUT it was good Phil had some real fire to get the charcoal going. Man, it was damp everywhere.
  4. Coconut oil fueled diesel vehicles in the Philippines (and I'm sure other places) during WWII. Seems poised to make a comeback as well. Whale oil lamps are probably not going to make a comeback.
  5. Never forget how the noise from wind turbines causes cancer and you can't watch TV if the wind isn't blowing. And regarding solar power, how do you fly an electric plane at night? Good questions, right?
  6. Not really. Fiberglass Market Size, Share | Growth Analysis Report [2032] Carbon Fiber Market Size, Share & Trends | Forecast [2032] PSA: Be careful reading these ^^, there are actual facts and data included. To summarize again: For fiberglass the leading consuming industry is transportation followed closely by construction. For carbon fiber composites, the leading consuming industry is Aviation, Aerospace and Defense. Wind does get a mention for both products, but it isn't near the top for either.
  7. I'm thinking a big pot of ham and beans with cornbread might be OK?
  8. Another Fin and Feather suggestion from me.
  9. I get what you are saying about nuclear waste. But what on a windmill presents a similar problem? Don't say fiberglass or carbon fiber, there's a lot more of those products in other applications than wind turbines. Boats and cars for a couple of examples.
  10. So, when are we going to start talking about food?
  11. Think banks of ultra centrifuges, not electric generation with all the heat rejection.
  12. Allow me to summarize. Wind has total life cycle greenhouse gas emissions on par with other "clean" energy sources. And far less than coal.
  13. Data is data. And gimme a break about the unknown unknowns. Did you actually read the link?
  14. Hey Marty: Is it true you're going to do some knapping at this Taneyfest? I know people who want to see it done.... Like me...
  15. I hope you enjoy your present. I's certeain you deserves it.
  16. Wind LCA Harmonization (Fact Sheet), NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) People, people, people. Please understand that facts and a shipload of analyses are available on this subject. Don't fall prey to clickbait.
  17. And there are plenty of stocker trout down lake too. Makes it hard to go wrong.
  18. I seldom fish below the Branson Landing. You'll be able to fish for quality and quantity below Fall Creek. Above Fall Creek is more big fish territory with restrictions. Best of luck.
  19. I just confirmed the room and slip reservation made back when Phil said do it. Lovey is coming and you guys better be minding your P's and Q's.
  20. I floated a part of the middle section about 30 years ago. Wasn't impressed. But there's a lot of it I've never seen. Best of luck.
  21. I told Janet this was a bit unusual for a jigfest. Nobody got wasted or really even close and we all caught the heck out of 'em. At 72, I've had enough hangovers, but thankfully not enough good times with good friends. Old AND new. What a time.
  22. Saturday afternoon in the bluff hole at Buffalo City was nothing short of incredible. We caught somewhere around 100 between us. Nothing remarkable other than that tiger striped smallmouth. Later that night I took my only picture of the whole trip. Good times, thanks to everybody who made it. Found a new friend in Ray Ray. Heck of a fisherman and all around good guy. Folks who missed it, there's always next year.
  23. If you fall in, don't forget to stand up.
  24. What a time that was. And what a man he had to have been. Thanks for posting this.
