Hey everyone ! As the title says I’m starting my own business after 20 years in the lawn service business. Finally time to take a leap of faith to get out from under the man ! I’m focusing my expertise to create a one on one experience for my clientele. I’ll be the sole owner operator. I’m always a phone call away. I’m keeping my client list short so I can focus on providing excellent service to each one of my customers . This will not be your typical service where sketchy people show up and rush through a job! Call me anytime . Free fishing reports with weekly service !!!

Do you recall what the water temp was ? -
When I say I like the stretch it’s for a couple reasons . The main one is I feel like I take the lure away from fish with braid . In cold weather and lethargic fish I like a delay in my set with the crankbaits . Same with the spinner bait. The stretch in the line is almost like a built in delay. With the braid and the wart and any moving bait I miss more bites . I like it on top water and frog fishing that’s about it . It’s more for a delay on the initial bite . And I set the wart hook just like you mentioned slow pull into the fish .

Phantom green with a bit of purple and some nice glitter. Hard to get a good picture of any detail with it being so clear . Will be fish catchers no doubt

Can’t stand braid on my treble hook baits . I want something with some stretch usually helps with hook up ratio and fish not pulling loose . A lot of the fish I catch on the wart and crawler are barely hooked , too much of a pull and they are gone . Plus braided line and freezing temps are no fun . Soaks my hands and freezes in the reel .

you covered it Bill . Length of cast is exactly what I was going to mention . Bomb that thing ! It’s one thing that makes that lure so good . It really does cast great .

It’s laughable to me that there are 33 boats in the tournament , and no one can even say how they caught there fish . Like they are somehow going to give away there edge . What a joke . I hate when tournament fisherman have some big secret makes me not trust them . Any time I win I spill the beans and it pisses people off !

I’m calling a small pocket a few hundred yards in size . You will want something protected from the north wind usually

I’m no bull shoals expert but , if you throw a senko around you should have zero issues catching fish . Finding dirty water will be tough . But you really won’t need to find dirty water that time of year . If I was going to fish a derby that time of year I would have the top water on , finesse baits , and also a football jig . Those three presentations will load the boat . Last year I fished a derby close to the same date . I believe we caught 25 keepers on the football jig just fishing the old bank line since the lake was high . Also caught fish on a hollow body frog. Basically we caught fish deep shallow and everywhere in between. That same day I was looking at something on the bottom in 25 feet of water . Turned out to be the yellow lines of a parking lot . That should give you a clue of how clear the water will most likely be . The spawn will be in full swing , but bull has so many fish it will take a month to all spawn . The lake is massive and you can easily get overwhelmed. Good news is that there are about 1,000 small pockets within 8 miles of the dam area . Work then from back to front , figure out where they are wanting to be and duplicate . Writing this all has me wishing for late April on Bull now ! You guys will have a blast. And someone will come away with a big smallmouth story no doubt !

Late April you should have no problem catching fish anywhere on the the lake . The last year bull has fished amazing all year long . You should hit it when they are really on the feed . Should be a lot of fish spawning too ! There are plenty of places to dump the old boat in when the water is 20 ft+ .

It was there and thriving .I haven’t seen it in a few years. It’s gone now. Only a spring and summer of limited rain will tell us if it will come back .
-
These growth rates are they an average of the overall region ? The little map with the colors is complete bull . Every lake is different .According to the map a crappie trapped in the spillway pool of springfield lake grows at the same rate as a crappie in Stockton .
-
I‘m sure Stockton has plenty of shad . But how hard does a fish have to work to eat a Stockton shad . I’m betting that it’s harder for a fish in a deep clear lake with minimal cover to ambush prey . Compared to a muddy shallow lake with abundant cover options .
-
I would starting throwing one now . Caught fish on bull shoals with one this past week . Once the water is below about 55 it should get good .
-
You guys trying to compare a Lowland fishery in Mississippi to a highland fishery like Stockton is just plain dumb . Clear water , cold winters , lack of cover . These things don’t play a part in the health and size of a population according to your logic . Not to mention the water volume difference in the lakes in general .

I get it, but it’s not like every fish in the lake that’s 10 inches has been caught. Maybe instead of blaming the lake and you can look at yourself for the answer. It’s the fall. The fall is tough , it always has been and always will be. I guarantee that towards the end of November the fish will move to a more catchable location and all will be quite again . It’s seems the time of overreacting has made its way from the line at the grocery store to the lake . God help us

Or as Phil stated port to port . Which also mean on our lakes the bank should always be closer to your starboard side .
-
I re read everything pretty sure you and Babs agree lol . Maybe your need for internet arguments has gotten the better of you once again . And just like bill said stay on your side of the lake ...which is your right side . All seems to make sense to me
-
That would be the worst possible way to take that route

Mine were all coming from main lake points on a football jig . Let’s say from hawker to the big concrete thing that keeps water in ...since we have censored the D word 😆
