  1. I just want to fish, had my index and middle finger knuckles replaced last March with poly carbon implants. Setting the hook with a spinning rod represents trouble, any quick strong resistance in those two fingers and I’ll drop whatever is in my hand but I can use a baitcaster just fine, looks like I may have to start throwing senkos with a baitcaster
  2. I agree, that's what I use. Like anything else, you have to practice tying it. I have found that if you do not tie the two hitch knots in the right direction the knot will come loose.

Flax seed oil is pure, and fit for human consumption, Lind seed oil contains additives that makes it usable for paint cleaning properties, not good for human consumption.

If a self cleaning oven went to 800 I definitely would not put anything in it, the cleaning cycle on mine goes to 500 max.

I disagree respectfully, how hot do you think that Dutch oven is when you have coals under & on top of the lid. 350,400,450,500, all depends on what you are cooking for hours on end

For some reason I can’t get to copy so here goes, I stripped the pans completely in the oven on highest clean cycle, mine was 500, then rinse out and scrub with scotch brite pad, put back in oven on 200 for 20 minutes to open the pours in the metal then take out and apply a very thin coat of flax seed oil, I did inside and out, let no oil pooling in pan at all, put back in oven on highest heat for 1 hour and let cool in oven, take out and repeat with oil a total of 5-7 times. I used the oil I got at schnucks international collections virgin flax seed oil, any will do as long as it is pure.

Ya, when I stripped them I had to open the window and door for a bit & the flax seed oil puts off a aroma of its own.

Wandering who uses cast iron and what process you use to season your pans, my wife scrubbed some seasoning off one do I decided to re-season the 2 pans and Dutch oven. I went and put them in the oven on the clean cycle and stripped them, I then tried Flax Seed oil, the method is quite a lengthy process, I was quite impressed with the results as heating the Flax Seed oil at high temperatures actually makes it bond to the surface resulting in a smooth non stick coating. After numerous coats the pictures speak for themselves.
  9. Bill, do you have any information on the new Motorguide to be released this year, I have yet to find any reviews except for what’s on their website
  10. Sounds like a real show going on there. Sometimes it’s not so much the fishing but everything else we get to see out there.
  11. I wonder if the record amount of water in Truman has had some affect on the draw down this year?
  12. Nice fish and way to go, by the way, that deep point with pole timber you mentioned is where I landed my largest of 7-12 on the lake years back in Feb. Congrats on a good weekend of fishing.
  13. You bet, good luck
  14. Use the lakemaster card, more in-depth, you can use depth highlights, adjust depth offset on lakes as water level fluctuates with these cards, if you end up with a Ultrex I-link you will be able to follow the contour in settings if desired With the Gen 3 units. You do not need a card in each unit if one on bow and one at helm in order to share waypoints, the Gen 3 units have a setting for that option but if you want the Ultrex to take you to a waypoint you will need one in the bow unit or move the card from unit to unit.

  17. Buddy of mine was down last week for a few days wrench and to his surprise they caught a bunch of whites on windy points in the gravois during the day, he told me when it got a little cloudy they would bite and when it cleared they shut off. Said they had not much luck with crappie but I bet someone caught em somewhere. I'll be down Sunday through Wednesday and see what I can dig up
  18. Make sure you check out Matt’s new rig
  19. I’ve fished with the swing jig in pre- spawn down at TR and have had great success, as with everything else, right time right place, I generally throw a 7/16 or heavier depending on wind and depth I’m fishing.
  20. I was able to get down for a few days last week Quillback, I did find some on a football jig, was able to catch a few as they were really hard to hook up with, they were in 20-25 feet of water. Think I was lucky I found them, My best luck was in the morning I believe it was Wednesday with top water and spoon as you say, I landed 3 non keepers and lost 2 keepers, I just changed out the hooks on the spoons earlier today, and had some good luck one night also. I struggled more so concerned about my knee and losing concentration while trying to land fish after dark but it sure was nice to get out for the first time in a year. I have new 10" birds on the boat and it's amazing what I can find out there now. Next stop will be LOZ in a few weeks for some crappie and whites. Good luck
  21. yep
  22. Glen, I’m thinking the lake should be in better shape this fall since Truman is so full, I believe winter pool will be later this year. We’ll see what happens
  23. We’ll get there one way or another, thanks and good Fishin.
  24. I was all planned for a vacation this week, the wife and I along with some friends to shell knob, Got set up with some new big boy equipment as bill calls it, then I had to have my knee operated on, meniscus, thinking I should be able to get out by the last week in September, I hope.
  25. I got the two I needed and am happy with them. Protect your investment
