  1. Those colors are certainly good, and have produced for me. I have also had good luck on the Zoom Z drop worms in morning dawn & green weenie. Also Zoom meat head in watermelon red. A lot depends on the water clarity. I know what you mean about staying on them. I will find them on the humminbird drop down, and drift off them.
  2. Nice read Champ. I certainly pay attention to anything Nicky says about fishing highland lakes. Thanks for posting.
  3. Great report. Glad you had some good action early and late. Like the dinger on the shaky head.
  4. Sounds like a good time was had by all. Bill, you have the white's number. I think they just follow you around the lake!
  5. Nice report Quill. What are you using on the DS? Got out early Sunday morning, top water bite was tough, so switched to the shaky head, and caught several LM up to 3 lbs. Drug a water melon red DR, and picked up a few more. All in all a very slow morning, with big boats pulling skiers, I was off the lake at 9:00.
  6. There are others on this forum that have more knowledge of the Rock than me, but this topic is something I am going to try also, so here goes. I am going to use my electronics to locate fish close to the bottom on humps, channel/creek swings, long flat gravel points, and steep tapering banks and points. The cranks are the DT 16, Strike king series 6, and Bomber fat free shad 3/4 oz. I don't have any that go any deeper, but I think these will cover what I want to do. I use the veritas 7' winch series rods, with lews reels at 5:2 1 ratio with 10 lb mono or fluoro . I can sling hard pulling cranks a long way with this set up all day without much sweat. Be sure to post any good results you have. Good Luck.
  7. Thanks for the report. Congrats on a good morning. What locations were you fishing the jig & tube? Main lake points, steep banks, flat gravel, pockets?
  8. Glad I could help. Just get on the lake and play with the features. Like some other posts have said, use your electronics at all times, and become proficent with using them. You will catch more fish, which means more quality time on the lake. Good Luck.
  9. I bought the 597 HD DI about 4 months ago, and I like it. The screen is fairly small, so you have to be fairly close to see it good. I am still learning some of the functions, but I can see fish and structure very clearly. While working a drop shot I can see my lure at the exact depth, and fish moving to the lure. I haven't used the DI that much but you can see fish, and bottom detail with great clarity. The map it comes with sucks, so you will need to buy a chip from lake master or navionics, if you want good detail and contours. For the money I would buy it again.
  10. Great report Bill, and two very happy clients. What a fish on the fin.
  11. Nice mornings work Quill. You've got those fish up river dialed in.
  12. I got my stickers a few days ago. Thanks Phil!
  13. Good looking shirts and hats Phil. I will be in Branson the first of July, and will stop in your store to get a hat and shirt. Thanks.
  14. Thanks for your response. Might be possible to catch some better fish deep as the sun gets higher.
  15. I agree, it has been just off the charts fishing beginning in November through the winter until right now. Size, quanity, and as Quill put it how healthy these fish are. Everything is in balance on the Rock! I love the pic of the brownie with the Tiny Torpedo in it's mouth. Thanks for posting Roger, and Good Fishing to you.
  16. +1 on this. Mike, It is cool what you did with the centipedes, and sending the proceeds to support our veterans. You have a talent for making plastics that most of us don't. Keep up the good work, and thanks for posting this.
  17. Thanks for the report. Summer patterns are here.
  18. +1 on this set up for topwater. 10 to 30 lb power pro braid, also use 8 to 14 lb mono. Rod has a very limber tip and parabolic bend. Did you fish any deeper than 15'? Sounds like it's time to start throwing the big worm. Thanks for the report, you had a good morning.
  19. It has certainly turned into summer in a hurry. I plan on getting the drop shot ready, c-rig with the Doctor, drag the tube, and the little rig. Keep the fin handy for those that show themselves early. Hopefully the color will get down the lake, and clear up. 8" is a big salamander, maybe a lizard would work. Thanks for the info. How long are you staying at the Rock?
  20. I sent a PM a few days ago. Thanks Phil.
  21. What kind of visibility is the main lake water around K city? Are you calling a salamander/water dog a mudpuppy? I lived in Texas for the first 10 years of my life, and we called them water dogs. Based on your report sounds like Fin early, Ned Rig, and shaky head. Fish must be working there way to deeper water as the water temps rise. Thanks for the report Dave, as I haven't fished in a couple of weeks. Will be heading over to TR this weekend fishing out of Mill Creek. Hope your having fun on your vacation.
  22. Way to go Beck. What a Fish! Thanks for posting the pic Bill.
  23. Did it again, Huh Bill. Great report, and congrats on a great day. How deep were you swimming the grub? Were most of the fish suspended or on or near the bottom? Thanks again for all your contributions to the forum.
  24. I second the use of the green tint 6 lb bps excel for spinning. I have used it for several years now. The cost is low and you can afford to change it often. It is limp, fairly low memory, and strong. The shaky head with a trick worm worked for me Sunday, June 2nd. Several keeper LM along a slow taper bank with chunk rock from the edge of the bushes to as deep as 15'. johnboy: The grub bite was good to us on Memorial weekend, haven't fished it since. Nice report, Glad you and Donna had a super couple of days. Thanks for input and reports.
  25. I would vote for you Quill, especially with a motto like that! Like the photo of the double. Good report.
