  1. Let us know how it goes!
  2. I wouldn't recommend the Flat for someone inexperienced. I hear it has some obstacles, but then again I haven't floated that in like forever. Galena to Blunks is fairly short though and I doubt that it would have any real issues even though the water is up some. JMO though.
  3. I went yesterday after work since I knew it was going to get cooler later in the week. Didn't do great, but did manage 3 over 15" in about 2 hours of fishing. Caught five total with the other two being smaller males. I would say one of those was about 16-17". Put up a good fight as well since I just had my trout rod out because dummy me didn't notice I hadn't put line on my other spinning rod! duh! The water was still cold and after 2 hours I was getting cold! Nobody was really catching anything gang busters though. I waded above the 10c bridge and saw some caught, but again nothing really to speak of. Give it another week and it will be on fire or at least I would think so. Caught mine on rooster tails in white and then on chartreuse. I noticed the only others catching fish were using small curly grubs in chartreuse as well.
  4. Come on down to my neck of the woods and I can point them out all day long! lol That and girls wearing shorts with cowboy boots as well.

    White Bass?

Any reports on whites coming up the James yet? They are starting to run everywhere else so anyone got anything?
  6. I went down Saturday morning as well, but waded at the shoals above the bridge. Not much was going on there either. Would see someone catch one and then wait for a while another one would catch one. It was slow for sure. I only caught one dink so there you go. I would think this week would be really good unless it rains hard or we have cooler temps. Who know with the crazy white bass! lol
  7. Thanks for the heads up wily, I figured it would still be rolling along!
  8. Too bad common sense is something a lot of people don't have. Sad in this case because it could have been avoided like so many other times on the river.
  9. When I drove by Twin on Saturday it still looked pretty high. Neosho was still really muddy with lots of debris. Of course that is pretty normal as well.
  10. That water is just too high right now to go past that old concrete bridge. Will have to wait for it to go down before you can wade up stream.
  11. That lot will be a mud pit again!
  12. Heck, back in the day my family would do that. Not sure when they started with the in possession law, but I can remember many times back in the late 70's and early 80's my dad would haul us to Taney and we would stay a couple of days and limit out each time. Then we would head home where he would clean them and put them in the freezer. Lather, rinse, and repeat for several weeks. We probably had over 100 in the freezer at any given time. I don't keep any anymore. I can remember the last time we fished together and it didn't go as planned. We were on Capps fishing and I was having a stellar day. He was not and he got mad because I was letting them all go. He ended up just leaving early and he didn't want to fish with me again after that. Sad but true.
  13. Pulled the trigger and picked up the yellowfin 100 in Caribbean Blue on Saturday. Now for all the customizing!
  14. Nice. My feeds are starting to show people catching them, but it isn't consistent yet. I know the water temps are climbing steadily so it shouldn't be a whole lot longer until it is on fire.
  15. Years back I worked with a younger kid who grew up in the hollers around Cassville and his parents or I should say his mom didn't have really any money. Said he had "minner" stew many times before! I found it hard to believe until until I heard from someone who knew him and it was true. Said they would go down to the creek and sein them since they didn't have any money to eat on. The dude was just a tad off if you know what I mean! lol
  16. Send some my way! I can't find 9 or 5.56 anywhere and when I do find it they mark it up so high it's not even funny.
  17. Yeah, last year wasn't anything compared to the year before. So hit and miss just like always! ugh
  18. I've been researching online as well for a new yak. I wouldn't go with the outlaw unless you want a heavier boat that will act like a sail with you on top of it! I already have a solo canoe that is almost 12' long, so I am looking at a 10 footer. I'm leaning towards the Vibe brand now. Buzz has a 12 foot Acsend that he likes, but it is a tank to load and unload. I want something lightweight since I go a lot on my own. Just my 2 cents worth.
  19. Jealous over here!
  20. To be honest the places I carry are normally out in the woods or on the creek. Unfortunately I have encountered too many unsavory characters in the last few years. My gun normally stays in the truck. Nothing worse than running into a tweaker who wants to kick your arse at the ramp or parking lot in the middle of nowhere.
  21. I have a S&W Shield and when I carry I put it on the back of my belt right above my butt! No one sees it and my shirt hides it very well. For me it is easy to reach back and retrieve it if need be. I don't think the ankle holster is all that great IMO.
  22. Anybody have a Vibe? looking at the Yellowfin 100 right now and it looks pretty simple and sweet. I think Thursday I am going down to Bella Vista and take a look at one from Ozark kayak. I'll see what they have to offer. Forgot to add this tidbit from my wife. I'm explaining to her what I am going to do with a canoe and kayak and she just looks at me and smiles. She says, "I don't care how many boats you have, I sell and collect jewelry all the time"! Lol Green light if ever to buy as many as I want!
  23. I guess I should include that I don't want anything over 60 pounds as well! I fish a lot by myself and getting it in and out of the truck real easy is a plus for me.
  24. No, not the scupper holes. I was referring to the the size of the hole where the transducer mounts? On the pescador it looked like something that could get hung up on something. I don't need that anyways since I wouldn't be mounting one. I see WS is making the Tarpon again so I am leaning towards that one right now. Feel Free has some nice ones as well, but not so sure about the wheel that is mounted on back.
  25. Ok, I started the Pescador thread and now I have changed my mind on that model. After looking at it more and more I don't want the hole up front where the transducer could go. Seems to me that could get you hung up on a rock or tree limb just barely under the water. So now I am looking from something different. Would like price range to be under $900. I see they are making the Tarpon again so that could be an option for me, but i want to hear what else is out there that someone else has paddled already!
