  1. I tried that shaking the peckerwood after I found it. But it fell apart from age.
  2. Make, model and age
  3. I had a BBZ1 and caught one small bass on it before I lost it due to a unseen crack in my rods tip top. I have no doubt they will catch fish used in the right place at the right time. I had the BBZ1 slowsinker model. My intentions were to use it as a alternate to my 11 inch plastic worms I use in a specific situation over deep suspended bass that rise to about 10 ft or so to feed on summer evenings. I will say I really liked the sink rate and the the action was what I wanted on the slow stop and go retieve. I will not be buying another one however. I have advanced artritis and it does not take very long casting a heavy plug around to agravate it. So I will stick to my worms.
  4. Wrench----They are around here somwhere Wrench. Not sure ware I watched them last week trying to take ducks out of a large flock. I have only seen that affair twice in my life. They make fools of the Eagle. It is really interesting to watch.
  5. Yeah I do too Jerry.Remember John Earnie skinning some trees and towing them out on the ice. Ice is by far the most threatening thing to me here on LOZ When it. breaks up it will do untold damage to docks
  6. All this talk about the dangers of big animals you all seem to miss one. That is a doe white with a faun. They are real good at beating you about the head with thise two front hooves. They have injured and disfigure their share of people.
  7. I remember one in the 60's the weather turned like this at this time of year and stayed there till late march. I bet you remember that one Jerry
  8. wrench they have been confirmed in our area in the past. One of the confirmations was darn near in Laurie right near the junction with RA. I wouodbot mind uaving one around here. I am sure it would be a help in controlling the abundance of deer back in here.
  9. I would have been a lifer in the Navy. I was put out however for loss of hearing. After that I worked for the Army. A job that put me dead center in the personal and historical records of everyone from a Private to 5 star generals serving in the period from WW1 thru late Vietnam. A lot of my time there was spent verifying entitlments to veterans awards and decoration. I really cared about these veterans and it gave me the opertunity see things as they were.
  10. I go along with the full scale banthing inspite of the fact it might not do any good at this late date. Nothing has to escale confinment to spread some darn fool will just dump something into a lake . We have had a gator and a couple of pythons here at LOZ and a few Other things. Most of the provlem is not the critters its human beings.
  11. INVERTED INTEREST. I do hope your right about these Crawfish. We were told by the MDC that Armadillos would never survie our the winters in most of Missouri. That was a few years ago. The story goes that they must eat on a regular basis and our colder winters with frozen ground would eliminating them. Well it did not happen. I have killed a lot of them over the past couple of years. They are also moving NE at what I would say is a pretty good clip for something that could not survive. My son has seen road kill and evidence of them a few times in St Charles Mo. while I have seen so much evidence of why they envasice type thing cannot survive I never seen anything about how they just might adapt and survive very well.
  12. wLots of stuff to hunt around here that are more challenging than whitetails.... if food isn't a prime consideration.
  13. I will be up to see that animal Thursday. I am surprised you went this long without a dog. My grand daughters are about to get their first dog and my son wants a Lab. If he came locale I would like to know if there is more. I am going up to Herman and St Charles this Friday to work on my daughters home and do a little plumming and electric for them then on to to spend Halloween with the grands and go to the Zoo Saturday.

    Idiots

Wrench----- I have not seen a boat patrolman on the Gravois for several days. I have boticed the past couple of weeks there has been no report of arrest etc in the paper by the water patrol. I think the owner of Cocnuts won a small victorty against the water patrol. Seems to me like they are just letting everyone do what they want. As far as people driving on the wrong side of the channel I have come around my point heading downstream time and time again and came within yards of boats of all sizes headed for the barefoot bar up in my cove.
  15. I do not think the damage to any fish goes on in the tank. I think the damage occures before that in the live well. I do not live far from Coffamn Beach access on LOZ and after a big tounament I sometimes catch bass within a mile of there that days afterward are still showing signs of damage and severe stress. They are hard to revive most of the time when they are like that. Makes me womder how many do bot make it that far.
  16. Thats right aardhdale. And you cannot blame alcohole for tor alcoholics. But it is still a reason that some do it
  17. off suject Bill But have you ever seen such a mess as the patrol is in up here. I live just a few house off cedar point where he drowned.
  18. TRAIN ANGLER-----I do not support tournament angling because I KNOW to many out there are breaking the family piggy bank to fish and keep up with the cool crowd. It can also result in family and marriage distress. I know more than one person that lost his family over fishing. I think it is also responsible for the high cost of tackle. I do not like to see the prices people are paying for what they THINK is a quality item are a lure they just got to have to be successful. That is all that concerns me. I have only fished 4 tournaments in my life that covers 65 yrs of fishing. I do not worry about people catching all my fish as someone alleged on here. I fish about 2 hours a day and rarely more than two miles from the house. I catch all the bass I need to catch and they go back in the water right away. I have heard stories about dead bass floating all over the place after a tournamet so I question the pactice of carring dish around in a live well all day. You sort of read to me like someone that has a financial interest in promoting some tournament.
  19. I have been watching. A lot of good arguements on both sides. But there or other things as well. There is astroid belt could decide to take a crap on the planet. Then there whats under old faithful out in yellowstone. But to be truthful I am 100 percent certain that man is going to destroy himself.
  20. Wremch I would think so. But according to MDC they feed heavily on them but did not mention how much heavily comprised of their oversll diet. In other words they probably do not kbow. But if there is bad stuff present and it builds up in the shell or anywhere else I would think fish eating these things would get a concentrate of that stiff. It just makes me wonder because the blues went down so fast.
  21. I would be very sceptical of any spring out in bushes. I lived very close to the 40/94 junction before and diring the early years of the clean up out there. Allegadly the clain it is finished. But I just wonder about the ground water where such a spring would be coming from. I remember at the time there was concern about the ground water.
  22. Several species of fish eat them and drum and blue catfish feed heavily on them acording to the MDC. That may or may not be a good thing. Zenra mussels feed by filtering water. Any bad stuff that in in the water is retained in the mussels. When the fish feed on the mussels they infake intake a concentrate of those things. I cannot help but wonder if that had something to do with the almost instant disapearance of the big blues on LOZ. I do not see any of the monster drum and buffalo I used to have coming by my dock this past couple of uears.
  23. ATTA------ I fish evenings most ofvthe year. But the results show realfast there was Mrning bite and it was even more pronounced the second day. So I will be gitting on the water in the morning tomorrow if I do any bass fishing. But the crappie bite is making a big improvement around pink up time in the evening. So I do hot know what I will do.
  24. I can verify that dam area has been real hot for some people this year. I have a friend that he and his wife caught 9-10 bass this year between 5-6. I seen the pictures and there was none of htis holding the bass way out. All of those fish had a mouth like a cavern. Most were between 22 and 23 inches long.
  25. That is a good one. I see the same guy that caught weighed another nice fish. He had a spot you can bet on it. What got me was the general weights coming in for the whole rirst day bothing got on the board under 4 lbs and there were a lot of 5's weighed. Pretty good. day for as bad as the weather was. Maybe some of those on this forum should check there attitude about this lake.
