That ispir current problem o LOZ. I cannot really remember seeing so many shad in the 25 hrs i havecbeen here. There are schools and bait balls several feet thick al over the place.

Well of you got a pontoon and depth finder another way is to find deep ridges(30 ft) drop bait or whatever down on them. I would try to use fresh shad for bait. If not that catch some of the sunfish around the dock and and keep them alive and use them. I have caught a lot of catfish over 15 using spoons. But that is a entirely different story. Its more like hunting than you average catfish outing. And you can expect it not to always work.

This is the kind of study I would like to see done about the additional color range of in a fishes vision range. I would like something that show who different materials and paint might look in those ranges. It would be interesting to see although it is still a very small part of their world and how they perceive things.

Agsin as I said before if you all do not like this then ban together and make some real big noise about it. You have news media ,flooding congress with demanding letters about it. I Maybe it is sense of smell or what the fish sees with his vision versus what you see with yours. No matter how well the imitation can be constructed it might not appear the same to the fish due to the additional color range perspective. Maybe it smells different or the real one gives some movement that is detected by the trout. But I sure do not think it has much to do with a hook or line. Presentation is so awful much more important than worrying about a leader,line and seeing hooks.

HOG LAW I understand trout sight and even then I got to wonder. You see the old timers even before my time hated a noisy reel. They believed and I tend to think they have a valid point. that the noise of the reel went right down the line. I can remember making sound powered phone with tin can and string and how that worked. I believe that sound and vibration is transmitted down a fishing line and that the fish can clearly know it is there. That's why I do not bother with a leader. I am sure the fish is aware of a line but just does not pay attention to it because its attention is diverted by the lure or bait. The other thing I wonder is how well a fish might see a line even crystal clear one. I have never seen a study done on that before from the standpoint of the fishes vision. It has been proven fish see ultra violent and infra red. So color as we know it may not look the same to them because of the chemical composition of the line. What we think is clear may be very visible to them.

Strop pits are real good places for some big blue gills. It has been morecyears than years than Incan remember but are that bunch of pits just east of Baldwin Lake??????

Mitch you should be checking lines anytime your fishing in a. abrasive environment. One of the things i hold against braid is you cannot feel any abrasions

It so funny this should come up today. I was down on my dock doing something and the rain came up and sort of trapped down there. So i took out my drop shot rod and the very first time I sent it down i had a nice bass hooked. he about fouled me in the in the brush. But i worked him out and he shot 10 ft across across my well. jumped and ended up on the other walkway made a couple flops and fell back into the water. and I landed him. Normally if I have something on there that is worth landing I try to bow the rod before he makes a commitment to jump. Otherwise I just let them jump and hope they shake the hook.

I think they have jobs this is just a part time thing. Its what they do for recreation.

I see a lot on here about leaders on casting and spinning outfits. I do bot think tour really accomplishing anything. what is it your trying to do with a leader. ?????? I have never used one. even o. stuff like Fireline.

Ness For many years I worked in that records building in St Louis that burnt. It was quite a experience to work with living history. I had access to and used the records of every 5 star general and Audie Murphy several times and Captain Harry Truman a few also. Although a lot of my experience was with the war in the pacific. I have seen enough about Normandy to make me think I would have been frozen stiff with fear going into that landing. Wrench i do not even try it anymore. All the boating has resulted in many docks having 6-8 cables. It is especially bd in Indian creek below litle Indian that side.It getting like that all over. I have a snapper rear engine drive mower with a single 28 inch blade. I am sure it might be to small for your application but for me it is a delight. I can stand it on end and clean it etc. You might.want to check on line. Northern tool used to carry john Deere. They ship it free. There are others as well. You can save a lot on the state sales tax. that is just fine with me. They go overboard on their sales taxes anyway.

Mholder------ never bet on bass going deep in LOZin the summer. It is too cool under those docks. To them its like sitting in a Air Conditioned restaurant. The Hogs will usually go deep. But it is nothing for them to mosey up to the restaurant themselves when it is supper time. If your lucky enough to intercept a hog on the way to the restaurant your in for it.
