  1. Maybe I’m crazy but I figured top fish would break 7#. Either way, I’m very happy for Oliver on the win. Y’all should check out his big bass dreams YouTube channel, such an enthusiastic guy
  2. I'm no expert, but I've found drop shot can be a year round technique when done correctly. Admittedly, it's not my favorite way to fish, but it does produce
  3. Great report my friend. Getting me all excited for my trip down 10/13 weekend, hoping that jig bit is still going strong!
  4. I'm a little jealous, fished pretty hard this past weekend (Friday-Sunday) and the topwater bite seemed non existent. The jig and plastics bite on the other hand was really good
  5. Its been a few years, but we used to tear em up on Fellows and Springfield Lake with Sonnys and nightcrawlers.
  6. Very nice!
  7. Tragic event. My heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families/friends, I can't even begin to imagine this happening to one of my loved ones. That said, there seems to be a lot of speculation going on, and questions being asked. I'll reserve my opinions until the investigation is completed and all the facts are presented.
  8. I'd been using the Case ones too, these definitely seem to have a more realistic profile, and I like that they are local
  9. Happy to see it was a successful trip! Also glad to see a picture of that Hellgrammite, looks like it will be a fun one
  10. Had a friends float near Lesterville this past weekend and needless to say I got as much fishing in as possible from Friday mid day to Sunday morning. Bait of the weekend was without a doubt a 3.5" skinny tube, color didn't seem to matter as long as it was semi natural. With the good action on the tube I figured I might be able to get a couple on a jig or hd craw but with the exception of one little guy, no dice. I guess with the clear water and busy river this wasn't a surprise. Nearly every hole produced a fish or several, but with the exception of a few in the 16" range they were all little guys. Several fish also came from the middle of the river when I was just messing around not really expecting a fish to hit. I will say topwater action was really slow except for very early morning or a little while after sunset, and even then I ended up only 4 fish total on top. Final count for the weekend was 57 fish, of which about 75% were smallies, the rest greenfish and 1 goggle eye. Sorry for not posting any pictures, I figured my dinks weren't worth posting haha. In the end, fish were caught, beers were drank, and a good time was had by everyone in the group. *Oh, and Al would be proud, no spinning rods were used
  11. Headed down late Thursday or early Friday depending how things are at work. Really looking forward to it, though I will say the weather looks a little wonky for the coming days-fingers crossed
  12. Nice. I've been using the ones from Case plastics but I have no doubt the one you guys do will be a lot more detailed
  13. Awesome fish fellas, looks like an awesome father'd day to me. By the way, what ever happened to the Tackle HD Hellgramite?
  14. Awesome post and fantastic pictures my friend! I think I'm visiting the shut ins later this week actually
  15. I can "sort of" understand where he is coming from, but to single out bass boats and make no mention of the other monstrosities on our lakes is ridiculous. Seriously, there are boats on our waterways that belong in the ocean, I don't think bass boats are the problem.
  16. Guess not lol. I'll be fishing it next week for a few days and will report back
  17. This forum has been pretty quiet, anybody been out lately???
  18. While on the subject of spoons....Anybody here ever fished the big mag sized flutter spoons on Table Rock or anywhere else? I love throwing large swimbaits but for some reason I've always found the big spoons intimidating, and a little intriguing. Seems like kind of an esoteric thing
  19. Sorry to hear the bad news my friend
  20. In my experience the crowds won't get huge until Memorial Day onward, but you'll still probably be encountering a lot of folks. Honestly, I think the fish have grown pretty used to the float crowds. I've had excellent days fishing when the river was absolutely packed
  21. Thats a beast man, congrats on an awesome fish!
  22. True, just like how their sponsors, gave them all their lures and equipment. By sponsors I mean credit cards...
  23. Haha, that would've explained it, but I don't think a t shirt and an old boat scream tourney guys. Perhaps it was my choice in beef jerky? I've heard Jack Links is the snack of tournament champions?
  24. I've stayed out of this thread, but have been following and this is where I stand as well. Just going to throw this out there, and I only make it to Table Rock about 1-2 times a year at most these days, so maybe my experience is an exception. Anyway, before hitting the water my bud and I usually stop at a gas station for coffee and snacks. 4 out of the last 5 times I've done this the gas station attendant has asked if we were in one of the "tournaments" that day. Is it just a coincidence that we are pleasure fishing on the same day as all these tournaments, or are there perhaps too many of them? (this never used to happen that I can recall)
  25. Ebay often runs promo codes in the 15-20% range as well. I've gotten a couple Tatulas for dirt cheap this way, not to mention some Dobyns rods and other things.
