WTB: Remington 870 Wingmaster in 410 and 20 gauge
Gumboot replied to 196champ's topic in Buy - Sell - Trade
I gots a 410 wingmaster I'd sell. It's a shooter, not a collector. Used it mainly for planted birds training dogs. Hasn't been out of safe in 20 years. LMK if you wants pics. -
Was able to take a look at it yesterday. Good news is idler pulley is bad, bad news is the a/c clutch/compressor is locked up and belt almost shredded. I don't do a/c so its going to the shop. Thanks much.

Appreciate the advice. It's not a slipping belt squeel, it's got more clunk to it, but I'll check those things out. Going to try the pipe trick as I think I know where the noise is coming from, but longer I listen to it, it seems to travel. I had good luck with a Nissan truck 30+ years ago, but this Rogue has been expensive to maintain. I'm sure being driven by a 17 year old has nothing to do with it. Thanks again.

I know...I'm asking car mechanical advice on a fishing forum. Sons 2011 Altima developed a high pitch squeel which I believe is coming from the alternator. It's still charging. Can bearings fail on one of these?

+1 on the Fenwick. Very serviceable at a decent price point. What reel you gonna put on it? And don't tell me a Pflueger President... -
Shovelnose Sturgeon Fresh out of school I worked at a grain elevator on the MS River. One summer the river dropped out and left about 150 yards long by 20-30 yard wide pool between a sandbar. The crazy elevator manager recruited a group of us and we ran a sein across it and seined it using a 4 wheeler on each side and two of us in the middle to clear the sein in case it caught on a snag, I know...what could go wrong. When we pulled the sein to the end, besides a bunch of crappie, catfish, drum, and carp were a bunch of small sturgeon. I never knew what kind they were. We culled out what we wanted and turned the rest back. I'm dubious as to legality of our operation, but I think the statute of limitations is up on that transgression. Don't ask me about the time we took a tugboat rabbit hunting...

Just when you thought you had heard it all... If you'd care to share, would like to learn more about this technique.

1984 homemade fried mushrooms. They were a little slimy, but I figured if I washed them off... I read somewhere that many cases of a "24 hour bug" are mild food poisonings.

Just saw this. What a great life Max had. Especially being able to enjoy the hunt he was bred for. Hunt 'em up Max...

Quill Are you normally awake at 4:30, or did you have to get up to pee and decided to check the forum?

Pick a boat, any boat...

When I lived in TN is used to drive by a marine dealer every day that had a stack of Fisher jon boats out front from 16' to 12'. One morning I went by and that stack of boats was scattered across the dealer lot. Someone had run off the road and took them out. I stopped by that afternoon and negotiated a deal for a 16' that had a dent on top of transom. I don't know what gauge that Fisher aluminum was, but it sure didn't take much for a couple of guys to move it around and it was very flexy. Much more so than the Alumacraft that replaced it. Sorry for the hijack...good memories. -
Does it look like a coppernose bluegill to you guys? I stocked a bunch in my pond. They readily came to feed and grew up fast.

Thanks for the replies. My wife gave me address and we're actually very close to Starkey Marina, so we'll be launching there. Will post a report if by some miracle we actually stumble into some fish. Thanks again.

Going to Beaver with family and friends for the first time late this week. We rented a house on the cove labeled Big Clifty Creek. I'm assuming nearest boat ramp will be at Big Clifty Park? Any issues with that ramp and what can we expect in the form of boat traffic?

Maxima fishing line
Gumboot replied to Gumboot's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
It must be the Ultragreen as limp and soft is what I liked about it. At 63 years old, hoping to avoid those attributes for as long as possible. Thanks for the replies. -
I had a big spool of 5 lb Maxima mono that I finally used up last night. The label peeled off and now I'm looking for more. Should the Maxima Ultragreen be the same as the spool I bought in the past?

Sorry to hear about your motor problems. You'd be doing many of us a favor if you would start a "Wrench diagnose my motor problem" thread. Haven't had one in way too long.

Put in new coils and plugs. I was going to do a video but it was as easy as changing out plugs. The car runs fine now. I don't know which cylinder is which, but the middle two plugs were fairly fouled, and of a little more concern, there was a film of oil on top of those two plugs and bottom of the coil on plug. It doesn't seem to be burning oil and oil level is ok. Oh well...we'll run it till it won't.

I'm electronically inept. Could I just put a new coil and plug on #4 and if the issue goes away, that was the problem? Thanks Glenn. Now I have to search crank shaft position sensor... On another note...you need to become an approved Evinrude shop. There's a bunch of G2's out here with 10 year warranty's and hard to find someone to work on them.
-
Thanks for the replies. Drove it home this morning. Ordered plugs and coils for $170, and that wasn't even the cheapest option. I did have to pay $139 to Nissan for "diagnosis". Note to self, next time take it to O'Reilly's and have them run codes. We'll get them put in next week and I'll let you know how it went. Thanks again.

Once again I ask help from the general expertise that is OA. My 16 year old drives a 2011 Rogue with 150k miles. He called from school yesterday and said his car was shaking and rattling and wouldn't accelerate. I took it to the nearest shop and they diagnosed bad coil on #4, but wanted to change out all 4 coils and plugs...to the tune of $1200. Several Youtube vids leads me to believe that with $200 in parts and 30 minutes, I can do the same. This is a coil on plug system, that after removing air manifold, looks like coils and plugs are pretty easy to change out. Am I missing something? Could I further damage something in the engine driving the car 4 miles home? Thanks.

I stocked SMB in a new 5 acre pond I built around 2005. We sold that little farm 7 years later and we were catching 3 distinct year classes of SMB at the time. Eastern KS deep pond with a ton of rock. They can spawn in the right pond conditions, but eventually the LMB will probably outcompete them.

Can you recommend anyone to work on my 2016 G2 in the KC area? Thanks.
