  1. On a cold morning in the duck blind...Remington 1100 = automatic single shot.
  2. Had a gadwall shoot one morning on the St. Francis River in AR. Got back to ramp, loaded up jon boat and Federal game warden pulls up. All business, checks plug, checks shells, checks my 4 gadwalls, that he identifies as hen Mallards. My choice was to follow him to courthouse or wait for police to take me there, so I followed him to Marianna where we were met in parking lot by a state warden. He takes one look at my ducks, apologizes, and sends me home. Other than that idiot, my dealings with the GW have been cool.
  3. Sorry Bo. That's the extent of my IT skills.
  4. You don't see the little heart icon on the lower right of the post?
  5. Good for you Zach. Maybe you could take SIO3 out and show him how to catch those.
  6. I bought my son a Franchi Affinity 12 ga several years ago, liked it so much I bought one in 20ga that I use when I need to shoot steel. Cycles 3" duck loads to light dove/quail loads no problem. It's an inertia gun, so if you're going to be shooting mostly heavy loads might want to opt for a gas gun.
  7. The local otters always leave a few reminders on the dock that they're around during the week when I'm normally not. Usually the scat is full of fish scales. Friday when I swept it off it was full of crawdad parts. I tied on a 3/4 oz brown craw jig with matching trailer, and caught 18 Saturday morning, all on gravel/chunk rock, 4-10' of water. Several nice keepers. Nothing to write home about, but pretty fun. Water temp 77 with nice color. It was 84 last week. Tons of small bait everywhere. Edit: My boy said it was 19 and he caught 11 on more of an orange craw jig, as I wouldn't give him one of the jigs I was using cause I only had two. It's cutthroat out there when there's a 24 pack of busch light riding on outcome. Not a single wake boat to be seen. Big change from last week, that boat parade was something else. Saw my first, what on LOz would be considered a small cruiser. He came plowing by our dock, cause the no wake buoy is 50 yards past my dock, so no reason to idle even though there are six kids swimming around, then as he came back out he hit the gas just before he got to the buoy, and then it's hang on for your life. Almost made my beer foam.
  8. The world is at 200-300k cases per day with 5-6k deaths per day, so no it hasn't disappeared. India getting slammed, Mexico has run out of "death certificates". Positives are generally under reported in many countries in comparison to the US, as we have the luxury of testing that many lessor developed nations don't. That being said, our lake house is visited weekly by friends and family, and we do pretty much the same stuff we've always done. Can't think of a better place to "quarantine" than the white river in December.
  9. Sold to a nice young man from St. Louis. I believe it will be his first fishing boat. Now he gets to jump through the MO dept of Rev hoops as KS does not title boats, motors, or trailers that carry less than 2000 lbs gross. He's 2 for 3 so far. Good luck Zach.
  10. Can't you send some cdi modules off to be repaired?
  11. Howard. That boat is probably not available as it was advertised back when I still had good knees.
  12. Like normal I let the bird dogs out around 6:30 on Saturday morning, I went and got some coffee and walked towards the dock cause they'll end up in the lake eventually. I was 50 yards uphill from the lake when a really pretty 20' ish bass boat with a 250 pro xs came into the cove on plane, driver shut it down, they didn't see me, and I expected them to start chunking a buzz bait, cause I believe everyone on the lake has read bigfishscott's post. But no, they don't pick up a pole...yet. One guy reaches into the livewell and pulls out two bass and his buddy proceeds to take pictures. Pretty soon the guy puts one of the bass back in the livewell, goes to front of boat, picks up a rod with some type of chartreuse bait, hooks the fish with the lure and flips the bass into the lake, while this is happening, his buddy with the camera is laying down up front by the trolling motor, that has not been deployed, the "angler" then proceeds to get down on the deck, pulls the bass in, and presents it for a picture. After they finish with this the poor fish is put back in the livewell, they crank the motor and roar off to what I can only assume is another cove to "catch more fish". They never threw one bait the whole time there. Couldn't get up the hill fast enough to tell the wife. Hilarious.
  13. On my feed, magicwormman's post did not include that photo. So I'm guessing the internet bots have a specific wrench profile. Need to figure out how to get on board.
  14. Brown Booby makes rare appearance in Missouri Ozarks The seabird made history after popping up along the Current River in Ripley County. JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri welcomes numerous flying visitors throughout the year, but the state recently made history after a seabird was spotted in the Ozarks. Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) staff have confirmed a Brown Booby has shown up along the Current River in Ripley County. The bird was first spotted by Debbie Prance-Orosz this past Saturday while she and her family were out enjoying the river. Not knowing what the bird was, she snapped a photo and posted it to her Facebook page. “We first got word of it after it was posted to Facebook this past weekend wondering what it was,” said MDC Forester and avid birder Steve Paes. “We didn’t know where it was, other than somewhere on the Current River. After asking around, I got a tip on its location. On Monday, I set out on the river with Cindy Bridges with the Missouri Birding Society and we eventually found it perched on a dead tree.” Brown Boobies are large, long-winged seabirds that are often seen from southern Florida south on the Caribbean and Pacific coasts of Central America to northern South America. According to MDC State Ornithologist Sarah Kendrick, this is the first recorded sighting of a Brown Booby in Missouri. “It’s just an anomaly,” Kendrick said. “To spot this tropical seabird in the Ozarks is as awesome as it is bizarre!” Kendrick speculated that the recent storms in the Gulf Coast could have blown the bird off course or caused it to get lost, leading to its pitstop in Missouri. “It can be difficult for birds to escape severe weather, and some can be blown hundreds of miles off course, but this is extreme,” she explained. It’s unclear how the Brown Bobby likes the Missouri landscape, but those who have seen it all agree on one thing: the seabird is “totally oblivious” to people. “The bird is just unfazed,” said Paes. “The few times I’ve seen it, it’s been perched on a dead tree and doesn’t seem to mind being close to people. It looks healthy and very active, too. It doesn’t seem to have trouble feeding and catching fish.” And as for how long it’ll enjoy its Missouri vacation? That’s up in the air. “There’s no telling how long it’ll be here,” Paes commented. “It could be a few weeks, or it could be gone tomorrow! But for serious birders, it’s such a treat. They’re crossing a tropical bird off their list that they got to see in Missouri. It’s absolutely a kick.” To learn more about birdwatching, visit the MDC website at https://short.mdc.mo.gov/Zhp or join the Missouri Birding Society at https://mobirds.org/. 15. Nope. Pentair. Primarily water pumps.
  16. One of mine graduated from there 8 years ago as a nuclear engineer, then decided he didn't want to work in that field. He's a mechanical engineer with a company here in KC. If you don't have a job coming out of that school you ain't trying.
  17. Me too. And to Wrench's point, the one that was the biggest pain in the posterior from middle school on... has a job that he enjoys and a great family. Never underestimate the power of a good woman.
  18. Just in case anyone over this way is looking for a river jet, noticed this weekend that Whites marine had a bunch of new Blazer river tins with jets on them. Would be a new line for them.
  19. No shortage of opinions over on BBC.
  20. That was awesome. A man is not particular about who he mates with...or as my buddies told me back in my younger days...you don't cull many do ya? A wise women doesn't accept $50 worth of cocktails if she's not gonna give it up...right! Dude doesn't have a clue. It takes a $100 dinner and equal amount of wine/liquor to get in the door. Or better yet, as I've taught my boys, cook them a nice dinner and then clean the kitchen, the last part gets them everytime.
  21. Cheaper than adding a garage to the house.
