  1. Depressing, right? Suppose we give our many miles of hiking trails open access to ATV's/4-wheelers and horses? Even just mountain bikes. Which I enjoy doing. But there is a place for it. I have no problem with lakes and lower sections of wide open river, but the encroachment keeps going further and further upstream.
  2. Floated the Buffalo multiple times. It is, without peer, the best the Midwest has to offer. Good video and lots of cool shots but much seems to be drone footage, which I thought were illegal in NPS? Hike Angel's Landing in Zion NP if you really want to test the shrink factor on your tackle.
  3. But a bent grate that allows a quite-a-bit bigger rock, that ain't good, is it? Makes me happy.
  4. Love it! Those warped gaps let more big rocks get through to where they need to get! And the side benefit . . . more business for Wrench!
  5. I love seeing these jet boat problems and constant complaining. I truly HOPE your intakes are clogged beyond repair. Bent intake bars, oh the whining, oh my! what do I do??🤣 I consider you all lazy sonsabicches. Pick up a paddle and float the thing. Screw your excuses for lack of time and "need to get there fast". We would all appreciate less noise, and exhaust. And, lets face it. You're not cool. You can't catch fish, except in those favorite "pet secret spots", miles from a boat ramp, where you've gone to dozens of times and pitch the same ned rig crap with lots of specialized skill involved, and then jet up to the next spot, whacking the same fish you've caught a dozen times over this year, posting pictures as if you're a genius. 🤣 Yeah, I'm talking to you. But whatever you do, don't dare reveal too much in your pictures of your whereabouts . . . .😂😂
  6. No, thats pretty stupid. But just like a DJT criminal defense, your story doesn't add up. If you didn't tie it to the line, how did it go overboard?🤣
  7. Highly recommend. Not as much about fly-fishing as you might think, but then again, neither was "A River Runs Through it", . . . which probably had 10 times the budget as this film even 30 years ago. I would rate this movie much higher though, for the strong message about our war vets that still carry their burden. Never made it to theaters unfortunately, but Prime Video has it.
  8. L to R: Kip, Kip Sr., Ness, Hoffmeyer, Liv, Gavin, yours truly, and Brooke.
  9. No, in fact, I don't think I've brewed a batch in over 5 years. Too much work, or I'm just too lazy. And all-grain brewing is a whole nother level of work and equipment investment.
  10. 15 years ago . . . thats hard to believe. Fun trip.
  11. It was probably this one . . . my dry-hopped APA.
  12. Love this report, Ness! I was a bit underwhelmed by the Guiness brewery tour, but as tourist traps go, there are a lot worse places you can be . . . I'm in the mood to brew again, though ciders are not my fancy. The belgian styles and particularly the Saison farmhouse ales have my curiosity. In my experience, all other things being equal, the choice of yeast you pitch GREATLY affects the beer more than any other ingredient choice or combination of hops, malt, barley, or even temperature of fermentation, etc. A wort chiller was my last big game changer, but nothing compared to yeast choice, and growing a good culture for pitch. As a fan of Tank 7 and Delirium Tremens, and Point Labadie Saison and others of that style, . . I'm looking to brew a high gravity farmhouse ale with I think the Pac-Man (1764- Wyeast) ale yeast. Hope your ciders turn out well. I'm sure they will all each be great with a unique flavor profile.
  13. File this one as another deeply cerebral conversation with Ernest T. Bass. 🤣🤣 You been spending time with Oneshot at the command center? 🤣🤣
  14. Give examples of distrust and paranoia that "many" have? Seems like a little self-projection here on your part, . . . .and I sure as heck don't understand the connection you are trying to make to the EBS.
  15. Okay, so lets hear your $20 theory about the EBS test. Enquiring minds want to know. Maybe it was an activation of the microchip that has been implanted in us with the vaccine. Or maybe it was a software update to that microchip. Maybe it was message sent from JFK and Elvis that they are preparing to come out of the shadows and install DJT the King of America. Tell us, Wrench. What is your theory?
  16. Dang it. I think you're right. We didn't go far enough. Do you guide out there?
  17. Meramec . . . just sucks, to me. Upper, lower, mid . . . . its dead and you all can have it.
  18. Netboy, I gotta say your pictures and reports are always top drawer. Make me want to come down to Ackerman and get skunked.
  19. I know Al is fishing machine, as I have fished with him. He does not stop, outcast me 3 to 1. I believe it.
  20. What Al said. 100% And Terrierman, too. Though the Ned and the Fluke or any soft plastics just simply are not as fun. I'll resort to those when nothing else is working, but top water season is still in full bloom until the colder overnight temps set in. If you're stuck on the shallow diving minnow cranks, stick with it. Nothing wrong with them at all. Just can't pound as many pockets with that lure and method still make reasonable travel distance while floating through. And I hate treble hooks.
  21. Yes. Caught fish like this all day long this past Saturday. Once you experience the thrill of a bigger smallmouth blowing up on top, . . . a split second after your bait hits the water . . . . you won't ever look back. Gotta have a good bait caster set-up though. Spinning rod is wrong tool for throwing a big buzzbait, whopper-plopp, or walk-the-dog lure.
  22. Try throwing big top-waters next time . . .as close as you can to the bank and aiming specifically at logs or big rocks. Buzzbaits or whopper-ploppers. Those should get you the bigger fish this time of year. There are some big fish in that section, though increasingly more spotted bass. Also try flukes into heavy cover and deep current. Avoid the frog water. Don't waste too much time on any one spot.
  23. I was going to comment, but I didn't want to interrupt the gushing stream of consciousness. This is good stuff!
  24. Don't laugh, but I've taken up Pickleball. 2 hours of non-stop play is a good work out.
