I've got a "squirrel-proof" feeder, developed by the Chi-coms, and sold to a unsuspecting gullible plebe who held the spring-loaded contraption in his hands in aisle B23 of the Ballwin Lowe's for a full 23 minutes, reading the claims on the label and feeling he finally had an answer. The weight of the squirrel on the feeder would close off access to the feeding portals. Engineering marvel, right? 180 lbs of expensive song-bird seed later, I realized I had been duped. The device works as advertised, but the squirrel is a clever, relentless and ingenious basturd. It had learned to "hop" and educated many of its friends and colleagues to do this and shake and empty the feeder, emptying the contents into a nice conical pile for a feast on the ground. Solution? Red-pepper powder inter-mixed with the expensive song-bird seed. Birds don't mind it, but the squirrels initially object. Several days of watching them go into epileptic spasms, but it seems they grew accustomed to the taste and actually preferred spice with their seed. I don't have an answer.

taken by Ness 2.2 🤣

Nice photos. A buddy of mine and his two daughters did the MR340 this past summer. Their team name was "Imminent Mutiny". Quite an accomplishment.

Nice picture. Very pretty setting. One of the most exciting white-water runs I've ever had. 25 years ago in February. Mulberry was blown out. I think we were camped at Wolf Pen. Big Piney was blown out. So some kayaker friends told us to go over to the Frog Bayou. Gave us directions. Near an old railroad trestle bridge, I remember looking at it, and it was rolling big time. Put our open-deck canoes in and we were off! almost died several times. Had to pull over and tip the canoe several times. I remember a 12 pack of beer cans rolling around in the bottom of the canoe as we went up and down huge haystack roller wave trains. Never laughed so hard in my life. Soaked to the bone. Midway through we pulled over on side of a steep embankment to catch our breath and build fire and wring out our clothes, and drink those foamy beers. Buddy of mine was shaking and he stood too close to the fire and his leg caught on fire. He still has the burn marks on his leg to show. Lot of stupid fun on the Frog.

And if it is a Norwegian Spruce we may really have some problems. Please make positive ID on the tree and report back.

I would call this one in to the chief, Oneshot. Do it now. This has "sleeper-cell" written all over it. They're trying too hard to remain inconspicuous by putting up the tree, but they are definitely plotting something. Tell me, was it a Scotch Pine or a Douglas Fir they were putting up? Its okay if you didn't get that information, but if you could drive back by and snap some more pictures this will tell us a lot. I'd keep an eye on those Jews too, at least with your money. Don't leave any money laying around.

And herein lies yours and others BS. If it isn't PERFECT, its not worth bothering with or really even trying.

Precisely my point, and that of Mr. McClellans's as well. Where is the unity around this collective cause? Trump declared he was a wartime president, did he not? He has not inspired or persuaded the nation to pull together and defeat this enemy that came to our shores. Rather, his strategy was to pretend we weren't invaded, that the invasion wasn't that bad and soon would be over, "like a miracle", it would all go away. 3000 per day now, it hasn't gone anywhere. Commander in Chief's preoccupation was getting re-elected, and golf.

That's fine, and I do the same. But consider this pandemic is the greatest challenge of our generation. Not just in terms of deaths, but the economic impact will carry on for a LONG time to come. This is our WWI and WWII rolled up in to one. Bill McClellan's article this past weekend was pretty good. To paraphrase, he said there used to be a time, not that long ago, "when people believed that government had the absolute right to command almost anything. Like plucking a young, single man off the street and sending him to a faraway place where other people might try to shoot him. In today's America, it seems unimaginable. If our government were to say, "Because of the pandemic, you have to wear a mask, but it will be only for a couple of months because vaccines are on the way," many people would refuse. They would do so proudly, loudly. They would talk about freedom." This sounds an awful lot like what you are saying Basfis. This generation is a bunch of wimps. Can't make simple sacrifices for the greater good. I guess its the age we live in.

What is your solution Basfis? Let our hospitals fill up?

It's all good. We get along for the most part. I enjoy this forum as an outlet and it suffers me no harm. Hopefully my words are not to anyone either. I try to keep the insults to a minimum, except those directed at that one in Orange. 🤫 For me, this is a healthy outlet. . . friends, some of whom I know well and have fished and camped with, and many who I don't, but I am sure I would get along great with. Semi-anonymity in this forum, is a nice place to go, to get some crap off my chest and argue, respectfully acknowledging each others viewpoints (though the vast majority are absurd) as if around a campfire and face to face. I would gladly share a beer and a campfire with any and all of you and I count you all as friends, regardless of politics (or degrees of absurdity). Come on over to the political forum, if you dare, and I will deconstruct your arguments piece by piece, and turn you in to a frail and feckless democrat. Cheers. Paul Dallas.

I've never paddled a Penobscot. But I love my 15' Dagger Reflection with the wood trim. Perfect solo boat. -

Now dang it. My PM was sent before Greasy's. Al, I'll pay $1 more than Greasy B's highest offer. -

This sounds like fun. Wish I could join. Whats the Norfork generation schedule looking like? Has there been any reliable pattern of no generation lately? -
The title of this thread says it all. It got super informative when it went down the path of comparing to tick bites.🤣
