  1. That's acacia club ramp. It's a gravel lot with a small shallow concrete slab. You can you just have to pay $6.00 there's a pay station. However, with low generation I don't think there is enough water for anything other than drift boats or jet boats.. no dock so you'll have to beach on gravel. I use it when I drift down in a raft. The angle is shallow, so not sure V bottom hulls would work, lot is not that big, so not sure how many it can handle. Phil might have a better answer.
  2. I'm into John Fahey and listening to podcast about him stumbled across this guy. Check him out...
  3. This is what I bought, lots of mounting options, retractable, sturdy, kinda expensive but you might get some ideas. https://seelite.myshopify.com/
  4. Murphy. (a.k.a. Murph and Turf) Portuguese Water Dog Age 4
  5. What's the documentary name? Or will it be obvious if I do a search for Euro Nymphing?
  6. Wow, often wondered where those came from thanks for sharing that.
  7. That freaking fly is cash money!
  8. Nice, what size would you recommend looks like about a 10 or 12? Dead drift or strip? sorry for all the questions,
  9. What kind of bugs would you all throw this time of year?
  10. Interesting, this motivates me to research Mayfly types, I don't know how to tell the different types, swimmers, burrowers, etc...These Missouri streams are pretty diverse.
  11. Ethyl alcohol it what labs actually use, but isopropyl works and is easier to find
  12. Entomologist gather samples and save preserve them in glass or plastic vials of isopropyl alcohol. they last a long time. He always has vials with him when we fish, he'll catch a fish or two, I look up and he's collection samples. He'll pick up rocks or stand up stream and put a cheese cloth type net down stream into the river bed, then pick up or disturb rocks and bottom to dislodge stuff into he net.
  13. He got back with me quick... It's a burrowing mayfly in the family ephemeridae. He thinks it's in the genus family of Hexagenia, whatever that means, but. not for sure, if he had the bug. he could confirm. A Mayfly entomologist might be able to tell from the pic.
  14. My son is getting PHD in entomology at CSU, stand by I'll ping him, might take a day or two to get back..
  15. I like the change in generation, makes things interesting, but wish they published the schedule at least a week in advance and either have zero generation (20cfs) or 1 to 2 units.
  16. I'm experimenting with Cortland 10'6'' nypmhing rods for running 12+ foot leaders during heavy generation. 2 weight was a bit light but worked, 6 weight had too much backbone when fishing 5x, will be trying out a 4 weight over the next couple weeks.
  17. @JimDog, Sorry for the late response, Interesting idea.... I could not find historic data of USACE, but you can get many years worth of CFS and levels for sites that have USGS sites.. I've dumped a text file for many, many, many years of data. Taney has a USGS probe for temp, level, and DO, not for CFS, there are multiple probes for CFS and level on the White and most of the streams rivers in the country. I've been exploring Machine Learning using the H2O.ai machine learning framework and would like to create a model that will predict generation for a body of water. There's enough data available to train the model to predict generation flow. With 50 years of daily generation history, I'm confident using a neural net with a linear regression type algorithm can predict generation fairly accurately. You could do the same thing for fly selection, but you would have to just introduce fly selection. Check the framework out it has programming API's for Java, Python, and R. Thanks, David
  18. Yes i wrote the text App it's still working. I disabled the PUSH generation change feature, drove me nuts too :). Now if you text "g table" without the quotes. to 913.270.0360 you'll get close to real time current generation. Text "s table" without quotes, you will get scheduled For a specific day text. "s table tue" However, they only schedule out 24 hours in advance starting at 4:00 pm. Weekends they schedule out fri, sat, sun, mon. Same works for Bull shoals "bull" or Beaver "beav"
  19. Great fly fishing Guide, interesting hearing about the river/lake feature names, thanks! I was fishing Taney couple days ago with fluctuations between 2 and 3 units, water seemed a bit stained, seems like water coming through would be clearer, figure Table Rock is completely turned? Fished seemed healthy so O2 seems ok. Maybe we need some colder periods to clear water up?
  20. I fish Taney mostly, but do fish the white. Fundamentally they fish the same, they both have fluctuation CFS/ Depth, and are bottom release dams. Lot's of patterns work, this time of year egg patterns, I usually nymph with a san juan attractor and an aquatic insect(more bugs species on the white) dropper or egg pattern, especially this time of year. Might use a mega worm, they can work well. I think most folks new to nymphing these tail waters are not getting their bugs deep enough via enough split shot and leader length. If the water is ripping leader size is not as important, but if water is clear and fish educated then you can move to smaller sizes, but with a heavy rig, you'll need 5x or more. When water ripping 5x and 4x seem to work fine. Drift is sorta important, but more important is getting down to them. Fishing reports will give you the bugs, make sure you're getting down to them. Oh yeah, almost forgot Scuds
  21. Bryan is a full time Guide in Kansas, probably the only full time guide in KS, but I believe he is a Garmin ambassador he targets Walleye, Wipers, White's, Crappie and Bass. He has some good electronic videos, he also offers electronic usage guide trips. https://www.youtube.com/c/KansasAnglingExperience
  22. Found the results, young man won with a 5 pounder. Here's a link about the tournament, and it has weigh-in's for Taney. https://thebbz.com/2021/11/1/evan-cox-from-colorado-wins-the-2021-bass-cat-boats-big-bass-zone-junior-championship
  23. Woke up Saturday a.m to a fleet of bass boats ripping down to fish lower taney. Googled what was going on, and it was B.A.S.S Youth Worlds big bass tournament. Some young guy/gal won a tricked out BassCat and swag. Saw them fishing docks in the afternoon throwing big stuff umbrella rigs etc.. Really curios at what was weighed in. Anyone know?
  24. It's not an app but here's an SMS text app that you can get generation info from. Sometimes helpful if you don't have cell service and you don't have to install an app. This is an app I wrote as a utility for anglers, so there's no monkey business going on, your number won't start gettin spammed. You can get Core of Engineer and USGS current and scheduled (core only) generation/cfs Here's the number 913.270.0360 here are a few the text commands for Scheduled Generation, all core tailwaters are supported.... s table Will get scheduled generation for Table Rock s bull Bullshoals s littlered Little Red For a specific day... s table thu Thursday's schedule s Just text s and you will get a list of all the sites,, all the core and many other USGS are available Current Generation commands. g table Current TableRock (i.e. taney). g bennetsprings g nianguamackscreek Just text "g" no quotes will give you a link to a list of many river gauges in MO, AR , KS, and CO.
