Had variety for dinner last night. Three puffers, a porgy and a trigger. We have been wanting to try puffer for some time. Took three home. They are like a fish drumstick once cleaned. Just have the backbone with two large filets on each side. I coated them with cornstarch and fried them. The trigger and porgy were standard flour, egg, and seasoned panko. Served with green beans with brown butter and garlic. Also some potstickers (store bought only). The puffer is fantastic. very meaty and great flavor. Going to be hard to let those guys go.

Great Job on an awesome brown trout!

I wish, but the divot in the wall tells a different story 😉

Too bad there wasn't a fishing rod stowed away on this trip. Would love to have seen fish from those bodies of water.

My job has left me with calluses on my forehead 😅!

This is what happens when you give a kid a push button Zebco reel rod and then transition them to a spinning reel 😉.

Used to be one of my favorite domestic beers (back when I drank more than a beer every fortnight). Brewed in Pottsville PA. Have driven by that brewery many many times. They used to state how old they were every year by adding to the cans for each year. So I used to collect a new can every year 😁

Need to build some calluses on those baby soft hands 🤣

That should be delicious!

@laker67 Congrats to Sandy on her Lunker limit!. I would have loved to seen some pictures, but you must have been doing a lot right as the net man 😁. At times a far more important job on landing those lunkers. Looking forward to hearing more about the rest of your trip. Tight Lines to you both!

I see that you strive for consistency 😉. My hand position is more about whether I can cast with one or need both hands.
-
That's typically how I hold mine. If it is a bigger rod like shore or boat rod I will hold it with my entire hand in front of the reel.
-
Haven't had them before this year, but do agree that they are delicious 😁.

Livie #97 L Gray Triggerfish - Balistes capriscus. No controversy on this one 😁. She lost a bigger one while trying to get her line untangled from my wife's line.

Ok so this one is not without a little controversy. I posted a similar fish (one that I had caught) on INat and suggested that it was a Longspine porgy. I got a response back that it was likely a scup. I have since seen other postings with fish that look similar to this one on INat with id's of scup and longspine porgy. I have also found images on line with fish similar to this one again being referred to as longspine porgy. For the purposes of this thread I will go with the scup until the dust settles elsewhere. Only real issue is that it would not be a lifer for Livie or myself if in fact it was a scup (😒) Livie #96 Scup Stenotomus chrysops Here's mine -maybe hybrid?

I like to add some walnuts in mine. That bread is already one step away from a dirty joke. So no recipe suggestions from me 😅

That you know of now. Where are you guys going to end up? Outer banks or further south?

The work on the pipelines was halted. All processes that were put in place by the previous admin have been halted or reversed. Minorities have been enslaved again by their own votes. The inmates have been assigned posts at the asylum.

We are having that issue right now with many staff members that are less than 30 yrs old. We have been hit with stagnant revenues and have not had merit increases and only select promotional considerations for the last couple of years. I will imagine that if that trend continues this year we will lose an unprecedented number of older staff as well.

Day trips pay off on my Blue Ribbon Trout Slam attempts
Johnsfolly replied to Jthawks's topic in General Angling Discussion
Congrats on your success thus far! Sounds like you are off to a great start. Pm me to let me know if you need help or advise on this quest. I have successfully fished (i.e., caught trout) all of the blue ribbon sections (as well as all of the red and whites too) some time ago, but still can help if you need. -
I have received a lot of comments from staff that when I pay them more they will do more. Sorry I'm too old fashioned in that I reward those that show initiative and do more without asking to be compensated.

I blond man goes to the DOT to find a job. They have an opening for someone to paint the center lines on several rural roads. The man interviews for the painter position. During the interview the supervisor tells tha blond man that he would need to be able to meet the minimum requirement of completing two miles of road per day. The man agrees and gets the job. On his first day he completes 4 miles of roadway. His supervisor is impressed. The next day he only completes 2 miles. His supervisor is concerned about the drop in productivity but since the man is still at the daily minimum things are OK. The next day the blond man only completes one mile of road. The supervisor calls him in to find out what's going on. He says to the blond man, "You painted 4 miles your first day, then 2 miles the second, and now only 1 mile today." "What's going on with your reduced productivity?" The blond man replied "Well it's taking longer now to go back and get paint from the bucket." 🤣

@trythisonemv sounds like some fun at Taney! That's a chunky spot.
