  1. @Dutch i know it was not as fruitful a trip as you would have liked. Congrats on helping a friend get that first fish of the year in the boat! Sounds like you worked for those bites.
  2. Congrats buddy on catching a walleye and the cutthroat. Just a little jealous here😌. More about time on the water than the fish. I hope you two catch a bunch today! Looking forwatd to some photos of your daughter's fish.
  3. That's a happy bucket. Congrats on a great fish fry in the making!
  4. You are quite welcome! I look forward to seeing more posts. I hope that your family and friends love fish fries.
  5. Always impressed with your trip reports. You are definitely reaping the benefits of putting in your time on the water chasing those crappie. Congrats!
  6. No they leave on the 22nd.
  7. I'm getting closer to finalizing plans. Looks more probable that I will be there. Will likely be heading straight down to AR and not likely to pick up something before getting down there. Willing to help cook or pick up food do there for a meal.
  8. I agree with Ham fantastic fish. Those are giant crappie. Congrats!
  9. First off that is a vast understatement ! Second, even I have caught fish with those sculpin baits . Waiting on @JestersHK to chime in.
  10. RPS breeding Ozark (and knobfins) sculpin males get that blue-green blush. I have never seen a banded sculpin with that coloration.
  11. As @Ham mentioned lots of variation in coloration. Your lures look really spot on to me. Here are a variety of sculpin photos to give you some additional ideas. All of the ones above are Ozark sculpin. The top one below is a banded and the other is likely an Ozark but has more of the banded coloration.

    What's Cooking?

Looks awesome. Thanks for posting. Looks like a recipe that I would like to try. How did you prepare the jasmine coconut rice? I have been using jasmine tea to infuse the rice.
  13. That creek is about 25 mins from our house. Will have to check it out. May be hard to find bank fishing opportunities due to private lands. Keeps my thoughts towards getting some sort of watercraft.
  14. Not sure if I should be offended 😌.
  15. Great looking peacock. Congrats! I have to get back to Florida and catch a bunch of exotics. Even if @BilletHead gives me a hard time about it😌.
  16. Good luck Rick (@Terrierman). Hoping that we can both make it and catch some fish together!
  17. That would be like the brook trout in the Norfork. They become Brown trout candy.
  18. Single handedly controlling the Beaver lake crappie population😁. Congrats on another great stringer!
  19. If Frank just eats the rainbows from the cleaning station it could put on a lot more weight than those browns that chase down their meals or have to swim up to the dam for shad. Simply because it expends less energy to secure high fat and protein meals than other browns.
  20. The lake above the tail-water that I fished yesterday here in Maryland had a good number of common mergansers diving for fish. Would not be my first choice of eating waterfowl.
  21. John - Congrats on the birds that you did harvest! Also I know from other posts that you have a freezer full of venison. So your decision in that regards paid off quite well IMO!
  22. Awesome trip report. Lots of great information and photos to back up that information.
  23. QB I'm sure that they would be effective in this river. I have to find some of the bigger an deeper pools along it's length and fish those for the bigger browns. As SIO3 mentioned that pool by the dam seems to have it's share of old lines, brush and rocks. I will have to fish through that maze of hang ups to fish it effectively.
  24. There is also a species of sculpin common to this river that I have not caught yet. So you know that will bring me back here as much if not more so than catching more trout. I have seen one 30 inch brown caught from this river by one of the guys that works for me. Not as fat as @JestersHK Taneycomo giant. May have only been 15+ lbs.
  25. Finally landed some and mine were all Maryland brown trout.
