    What's Cooking?

With Covid beating us up not much fresh cooking. My wife did make a nice French onion soup using beef stock and sherry. Today she made a crusty white bread. Game snacks were warm bread with an artichoke and cheese spread.
  2. These are fish that get me excited and willing to travel to find and catch. So many natives and so little time 😉 https://blog.nature.org/science/2021/06/07/9-cool-freshwater-fish-youve-never-heard-of/
  3. Love the Chieftains for a long time and really like Jaggers Long Black Veil.
  4. Thought of @snagged in outlet 3 and @fishinwrench when I saw this.
  5. If I remember correctly there was a brown from the Little red that was a previous world record brown. Seeing that brown trout can grow to well over 40 inches and also pounds if given the right conditions, I am amazed that many of us (myself included) are happy with catching ones that are only 10 to 15% of their growth potential. The AGFC is likely in for a difficult time to convince folks to keep those 14 to 16 inch fish.
  6. That is a delicious way to make a seafood stew. My favorite ocean mussel dish is mussels cooked with a little shallot, bacon, and white wine and butter.
  7. @Ozarks Euro tell her congrats on those great looking rainbows!
  8. @fishinwrench know anyone with a cave full of cavefish let me know 😁
  9. In my opinion mussel communities are way too fragile to even try and forage common species. Better off leaving them alone.
  10. Adam and Eve were the first to ignore Apple Terms and Conditions🤣
  11. @gotmuddy nice grass pickerel. You beat up on those stonerollers as well.
  12. It was an unfortunate day that Dolly Parton and Queen Elizabeth died on the same day. Both meet St Peter at the pearly gates. St Peter admits that at that time only one could get into heaven. So he asks Ms Parton why she should be let into heaven. She pulls up her shirt and says this is the best pair that God has ever made and that God himself would want to see them in heaven. St Peter acknowledged her attributes. He turned to the queen asked the same question. Without saying a word other than to ask for a perrier. As soon as the drink came the queen opened the bottle and drank it down. She then went to the bathroom. As she was done she flushed the toilet. After which St Peter let her into heaven. Dolly was upset and asked why the queen was let in. St Peter said that a royal flush will always beat a pair regardless how big they may be.🤣🤣
  13. Looking forward to see more from both of you guys this year.
  14. I'm reading a book about anti-gravity. It's impossible to put down🤣
  15. If I had 50 cents for every failed math test that I took in High School, I would have had $6.30 by the end of my Senior year. 🤣
  16. I would live fishing for trout in the snow. Usually steam coming off of the water. Great times.
  17. We've seen but never caught 3 inch chain pickerel in one of the spots that I took Ham when he was in DE.
  18. You should try and get to Burr Oak brewery on the east side of Columbia next time you are by the Burr oak.
  19. I have only seen young trout in a couple of the blue ribbon streams. Baby bass were seen in the creek/river that we have both fished 😉 before.
  20. sorry @snagged in outlet 3 no photos of tiny bass, but I have have caught at least a couple that were no more than 2" in length. One bit a 1.5" roostertail. Here is a wild brook trout from PA that I caught last year. It was probably 2.75 - 3" in length.
  21. Gosh darn biologists catching giant sturgeon on taxpayer dollars😅! I would love to catch a white sturgeon even a tenth of the size of these fish! Bucket list fishing. https://www.outdoorlife.com/conservation/idaho-biologists-catch-and-release-huge-white-sturgeon/
  22. @Phil Lilley that is a tank of a rainbow trout! Congrats sir!
