  1. Sounds delicious Mitch. What's your address 😉
  2. @Smalliebigs what an awesome day! Congrats on those epic hybrids!
  3. Looks like a great time Mitch!
  4. @laker67 awesome brown trout buddy. That rainbow also has great coloration. Congrats!
  5. In MO, I always bought the fishing/hunting combo with the trout permit. Then spring and fall turkey firearms permits. Archery permit and usually a firearms Any deer and one to two antlerless permits. Very few years did I ever get close to filling all of my permits. Though I keep track, I really don't want to know how much I spend on out of state fishing licenses and permits for the last two years . I bought licenses and fished in the following states since Jan 2019: Maryland, Missouri, Arkansas, West Virginia, Delaware, Illinois, Kentucky, Texas, Kansas, Georgia, Virginia (actually no license needed so far since my MD saltwater lic. covers VA saltwater) , North Carolina, South Carolina, Nebraska, and Pennsylvania.

  7. Keeping with the tan line theme - Vacationing during the Pandemic
  8. I knew that I would get called out. I have eaten quail, eastern pheasants, chukars, and I believe huns. I figured that anyone that has had prairie chickens or sage grouse would likely disagree. Now I have specifically stated eastern pheasants. Out this way pheasant pen raised birds and are put and take hunts. I am sure that they are somewhat like stocker trout versus ones that have been in the river for a while or raised in the river. Just my limited experience. More than willing to eat any grouse, Ptarmigan, etc. that you want to send me 😉
  9. You were really suffering buddy. I do know that others around you afterwards felt your pain as well !
  10. Everyone knows that those Squatch's are tricky SOB's. Does not surprise me that they have SG capabilities. Far surpasses any weaponry that those Yeti's have to date. Seriously my daughter and I were watching a nature show and they were transporting endangered crocodiles in PVC tubes to release them. We both thought that they looked like they were going to shoot those crocodiles out into the lakes.
  11. Now that's funny right there no matter who you are!
  12. I would agree that the squirrel was dead before it hit the water. I've seen them fall from trees and hit pretty hard on the ground and then run off but never fall dead into the water.
  13. Congrats again on the OA Bass Tourney win! Every one of those baits will catch fish. The TM microjig was the hot bite last night here in MD. I used orange and not chartreuse. That white and chartreuse is Livie's go to color combo. I know that personally (yes I have a spreadsheet) that I have caught well over two hundred fish with that color combo and it is not my go to color combo. I know that Livie has caught more than I have. Good luck and post what you catch buddy with these baits, we've seen what the Heddon can do .
  14. Tell him congrats on a great buck!
  15. I frequently used Pline fluorocarbon both in 2 and 4#. I do not use a leader. I do prefer 2# line for fishing Bennetts. Mainly because I can throw those John deer or other microjigs and weighted glo balls fairly far on the lighter line. I have seen trout shy away from 4# line but mostly when it is really clear. So I would probably have no issue using the 2# or 4# line for Taney. As @snagged in outlet 3 stated I would think that if you are confident in the 4# with a 100% fluorocarbon leader than use it.
  16. We are having a bit of a heat wave for Nov. No deer movement in the morning so no point in trying for a deer this afternoon. My daughter hasn't ever caught a chain pickerel. There is a small lake, Unicorn Lake, about 35 mins from the house that is supposed to have a good population of pickerel. I have fished the creek below the spillway previously but not the lake. We got to the lake about 3 pm. Sunset would be 5:30. Not much time to fish. Most of the lake banks were not accessible due to thick brush.. This lake also just does not have a lot of ambush cover that would hold pickerel that we could reach from the bank that we could fish. Started Livie throwing a Blue fox gold spinner around some brush that she could reach from shore. I was throwing a weighted spoon. Other than spooking a large fish or three there was no takers. Livie switched to fishing a worm on a trout magnet minijig under a float. Livie on her second cast around that brush pile landed what would be her biggest fish a chunky golden shiner. We both caught a few small bluegill in the lake on the worm. I went to the car to get my 2# line rod to go fish the spillway creek. This spot does stock trout but there are also lots of sunfish in the creek. I put on Trout magnet microjig with a small trout size float and an orange body. I started getting bites while drifting the TM. Lots of bluegill and a few pumpkinseeds. I also had three or four fish actually strike.my float. One fish that I thought was hooked only had the float in its mouth🙄. Livie was catching one after another as well. We ended the day at sunset with 36 fish between us both. Lots of the sunfish were chunky 7 to 8 inch fish. Not bad for a small creek.
  17. Thought about what they would taste like as well. Probably like pheasant. To me most upland birds taste pretty similar.
  18. Not seeing any loons lately but will see them in due time. We have had an unusual bird sighting. Over the last three weeks we have been seeing a young male peacock. He has been seen on one of the properties near our house. Someone looks to be feeding it. Livie and I hadn't seen it in a few days then there he was walking along the road. Don't know how long he will last due to possibly lack of feed or the abundant foxes around us.
  19. Harvest does contribute but the nutrient cycle is a bigger reason for the boon and decline in the lakes productvity.
  20. I love catching all kinds but if I had to catch just one fish all the time I would have a tough time between smallmouth, brown trout and big bluegills.
  21. A couple of good old boy hunters made a second trip to Alaska to hunt caribou. They could harvest two bulls each in the area that they were hunting. The outfitter said that due to the size of the animals in that area they should only harvest three or else the plane could not take off due to the weight. The hunters had a great hunt. Though warned, they each tagged two really large bulls each. The outfitter when he was packing the plane told them that he could not take that fourth bull. The two hunters did not want to leave their trophies and begged the outfitter. They mentioned that the outfitter they hunted with the last year let them take their four bulls. The outfitter conceded and with the four bulls on board they attempted to take off. They got some elevation but could not get off the ground and crashed. As the hunters scrambled from the plane., the one asked the other if he knew where they were. The other hunter said "yeah we are about 100 yards further than where we crashed last year!" 🤣
  22. That's pretty typical in the life cycle of an impoundment. There is a high amount of productivity and then a decline.
  23. A truck loaded with thousands of copies of ROGET'S THESAURUS crashed yesterday losing its entire load. Witnesses were stunned, startled, aghast, taken aback, stupefied, confused, shocked, rattled, paralyzed, dazed, bewildered, mixed up, surprised, awed, dumbfounded, nonplussed, flabbergasted, astounded, amazed, confounded, astonished, overwhelmed, horrified, numbed, speechless, perplexed, fazed, disconcerted, perturbed, disturbed and breathtaken.🤣
  24. There is travel in the title that was likely outside of a 5 county radius !
