  1. @trythisonemv nice smallie! Congrats buddy!
  2. That's a great laugh. Some others that I laugh out loud. When he sticks the scalpel into his thigh. Frau Bluecher heading up the stairs "Stay close to the candles. The staircase can be treacherous." And the candles aren't even lit. The Abby Normal brain discussion is hilarious. Digging up the corpse. What a filthy job. Could be worse. How could it be worse? It could be raining. Then it pours😅! The whole scene with Gene Hackman as the blind hermit is physical comedy gold!
  3. Taffeta darling. Taffeta!
  4. Ok watched one of the original buddy cop movies that doesn't get much attention. Couple of lines from that movie. I figured out this fish. He swims then he jumps. He swims and he jumps. Ooohh Noo! He missed the bible question cuz he didn't know what Deuteronomy was. Mother can I have more petite marshmallows in my hot cocoa!?! One guy! One guy! You're going to give millions of dollars to one guy! Where's his @$$hole partner?!?
  5. MOPanfisher she won't do that since it would be to much trouble to train someone else to fetch her deer😀!

    What's Cooking?

There is a reason that they are called sliders !
  7. Mitch have you ever heard the B side of Seasons in the Sun? Yeah I referenced a 45. If not look up. Terry Jacks Put the Bone In. Leave off the Terry Jacks and no telling what you'll find😌. This guys was a manic depressive for sure.
  8. I thought you were headed towards - They came to the fork in the road and they took it.
  9. I got out early in Jan, then was laid up with a bad cold which took over the rest of Jan and early Feb. The weather had been warm here in MD. So I took my daughter out to a local pond to see if the sunny days warmed up the shallow water and got some fish active. Livie lost two, a small LMB and a decent bluegill. I caught a dozen bluegill with the largest being about 8 to 9 inches. Not bad. Fast forward to this Sat with my daughter and My Betterhalf fishing the same pond. The water was clear enough for us to watch the bluegill inspect, nudge, and ignore our baits. We were using nightcrawlers and got no love. We moved to the big lake and my girls got cold and headed for the vehicle. I fished a few points and got nothing. As I headed back to the car, I stopped at a spot that had a laydown tree. I cast a gold in-line Blue Fox spinner and as it passed between an old stand of vegetation and that laydown, it got pounded by a chain pickerel. I was hoping for a pickerel and this 18 to 20 inch fish fit that bill to get me on the board. This was the last fish that I caught on Sat. So I get out Sunday again looking for the yellow perch run. Lots of guys out first thing in the morning to catch the high tide. spent three hours and I did not see even one fish caught. Headed upstream to the spillway where they stock rainbows. I caught two 7 to 8 inch stockers. I let them go and headed home. Again at least I wasn't skunked !

    What's Cooking?

Last Sat we picked up a fresh baked caraway rye loaf of bread. Thinking reubens, My Betterhalf began the homemade sauerkraut so that It would be ready by this Friday. On Friday we picked up sliced corned beef and aged swiss from the deli. I cooked the corned beef and sauerkraut first. Then assembled and cooked the sandwiches. Golden mustard and Russian dressing were the condiments of choice. Served with baked beans.

    What's Cooking?

Okay so we had a special last week and I picked up a cauliflower. I was thinking about a beef and broccoli except I have venison and cauliflower . I picked up some snow peas and put it together. I sliced the venison thinly and coated the meat well with soy sauce, ground ginger, and cornstarch. I browned the meat over med/high heat and removed it from the pan and set it aside. I added olive and canola oil to the pan and cooked the cauliflower florets. after cooking for a couple of mins I added sliced sweet onion and snow peas and cooked until the onions were translucent. Added minced garlic (three cloves) and minced fresh ginger. cooked about a minute or two and added back in the meat. Once heated, I added the sauce (mixture of soy sauce, corn starch, and sambal chili paste) to the pan. Once the sauce thickened, checked the seasoning, and served it on jasmine rice. Had a side of fried pork dumplings (store bought not hand made).
  12. Every year six elderly men have been going to Vegas to play high stakes poker. Harry was all in and lost $5K which was all the money that he had and he suddenly drops dead. The other five guys finish out their games as Harry is laying on the floor. Not wanting to have to tell his wife they cut cards to see who will make that call. Joe cuts a three of hearts and has to call Harry's wife. The other guys tell him to be gentle with her. Joe calls and Harry's wife answers. "Betty Harry asked me to call. He is embarrassed to let you know that he lost at cards. Well how much did he lose? $5K. You tell Harry that he shouldn't come home and he can just drop dead!"
  13. Though that is demeaning to Walter😀. He doesn't go around nibbling his wife's fingers in public or talk about kids playing with his hairy legs 😌.

    What's Cooking?

Wrench sounds like you cook like you fish. You only buy from 5 aisles in the grocery store 😜.
  15. Betty White would say that to talk to her friends she uses a Ouija board😅
  16. Great looking stream bred trout! A fantastic fish for sure. Certainly a big reward for fishing that stream instead of one that gets stocker rainbows. Congrats!
  17. Yeah only with smallmouth you need to pull out the gig first😌.
  18. I think that the best way to release a trout is to put a stringer through its gills, get the hook out, drag it around a little bit maybe a couple of hours until you catch a bigger one then release ! Or do this ...

    What's Cooking?

Valentines dinner - one day later on the 15th. East coast surf and turf with Maryland venison loin roast (rare/medium rare) with montreal seasoning, steamed lobster tails, steamed cauliflower, and honey and heat glazed parsnips. Parsnips were sliced on a bias and steamed until tender. The glaze was clover honey, Cholula hot sauce, and smoked paprika. The steamed parsnips were cooked with the glaze until they were coated.

    What's Cooking?

Fish tacos from a week or so ago - store bought surf perch marinated overnight in lime juice, olive oil, onion, fresh cilantro and cooked in the oven. Tortilla with tomato salsa, fish, avocado, red cabbage, red onion, lime juice crema, and Tajin seasoning. These were delicious. I hop that next batch will be with fresh caught fish .
  22. Jeff nice fish from a challenging day. Congrats!
  23. My closest deer with a rifle was 4 to 5 yds as well. It was at the base of the 12 ft.ladder stand😀.
  24. Good luck on the shitakes. Fun to grow. Though I prefer the homegrown oysters myself.
  25. Tough to say with certainty what that fish is. On my phone it looks more like a pickerel or musky. As stated above most chain pickerel are in the eastern side of the state. Grass pickerel are typically 10 to 12 inches and are more widely distributed across the state.
