  1. I don't have much to add since I do what Gavin says and I go trout fishing. Some trout spots like the Niangua may have smallies in the mix. I catch them on the jerkbaits or marabou jigs that I am using to catch the trout.. Win win in my book.
  2. That's a brown trout that has big aspirations buddy. My kind of fish👍😀! Also he'll click as our friend @Ham will say. Thanks for posting some food and fellowship shots. Miss that actually more than the fishing this year. Living vicariously through these photos. Some belong in the "why I love this site" thread. Glad you guys had a great time and hope that I get to fish with you guys again next year.
  3. @LittleRedFisherman congrats on a great cutt! Great looking fish!
  4. Here's a couple more trout photos that I received by text. @Ham and @Quillback will have to provide details.
  5. Heard that there may have been some cutts in the mix as well.
  6. congrats @Quillback on a nice sucker! Sounds like you guys caught plenty and some nice ones as well! Ham didn't mention his boat partner when he was texting photos.
  7. Looks like fun DJ. Glad that you guys got some fish in the boat. Nice variety. Sorry about no brookies. Can't wait to see what you get tomorrow.
  8. @Phil Lilley thanks for getting this thread started. I've been seeing some photos off line. So there are fish being caught. Many had hardbaits in their mouths. Sure that after you guys get thru that fish fry maybe the photos will start coming in😀.
  9. @Smalliebigs freakin awesome smallie!!. Congrats buddy! @Mitch f thanks for getting this post started. That's a great fish and worth of praise.
  10. Congrats on getting some winter bass! Looks like a great day to be in the water as well!
  11. Bo congrats to you on a good trip and guiding your wife on some nice fish. I hope that she tipped the guide well 😌. I like taking my daughter and/or my wife on most fishing trips. If they out fish me which happens from time to time, its a win win for me. They enjoyed the trip and I get to fish more often😀!
  12. Have to call BS on your armchair biologist distribution statements. Catch plenty of rock bass in the Maries over the last two decades.
  13. When I was a kid, we were at my cousin's house. He and I were lighting sparkles on a roof next to his house. Well some unlit sparkles got dumped down a PVC drain pipe, which wasn't bad until a lit one followed. Set the drainpipe on fire. Black billowing smoke led to the fire department showing up. They cut a four foot section of the pipe off near the bottom and all was over except for the beatings. My cousin ratted on me when he was the one that dropped down the lit sparkle.
  14. Used to fill plastic eggs with a CO2 cartridge and sterno. The egg would burn well then the cartridge would explode which was cool and would put out the fire. Win win for sure😀.
  15. Always loved the smell of popped caps😀. Used to have the cap grenade. Would load that sucker with caps and throw it around when folks weren't paying attention just to startle them😌.
  16. If needed you can buy a license the old fashion way as well at Walmart or Harps in Mountain Home or possibly Dally's Ozark fly shop in Cotter/Gassville on Rt 126.
  17. I don't know if most of the folks here think that trout eggs hatch quickly like bluegill or even bass that hatch in less than a week and begin feeding soon after hatch. Trout need consistent conditions for close to 21 to 28 days for a successful hatch. Longer at lower temps. Then they take close to 14 to 20 days to adsorb their yolk sacs before they are active swimmers and feeders. A lot could go wrong during those times that would prevent a successful year class. So in MO they are more likely to be successful in spots that have only modest changes in water volume, dissolved oxygen levels, and temp like the small creeks that do have natural production. Whether browns could spawn in Barren fork creek or Blues springs or Crane may be possible bit detrimental to those rainbows already in those creeks.
  18. Good luck @Seth on that 20 inch brown. My largest on the white was 19 inches but saw and netted a bunch of 20+ inch browns last jigfest. I have been snake bit on browns the last few trips to the White. Closest may have been when fishing with @LittleRedFisherman and @JestersHK when I hooked and lost a big fish only to be followed with catching a very small rainbow on the next cast😌.
  19. I would agree👍. Caught plenty fish myself the day we met up with you by the dam.

    What's Cooking?

Both are considered to be authentic to their ethnicity, ciopinno as an Italian dish and fortune cookies an Asian dish. However both were recipes that were developed in the US.

    What's Cooking?

So what do cioppino and fortune cookies have in common?
  23. When is there ever a time on Capp's that wind is not an issue?
  24. Nice day of panfishing! Congrats! Looks like fun for sure.
  25. We prefer to roast our own pumpkins instead of using canned pumpkin. We like like fresh cranberry sauce with orange zest. Tastes better than canned. Kind of like tying flies versus just buying them. You do whatever you prefer.
