Nice meal Marty! I'll post our meal photos tomorrow. Too full to do it now 😌.
Saw 8 deer this morning in the yard. This evening had a parade. First a fawn followed by a 1 1/2 year old 5 pt. 10 mins later two big does came by followed a large mature 8 pt. Then another doe and fawn. Did get permission to hunt in the woodlot with my bow. Will hunt it after getting back to Maryland in Dec.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of the OAF members. It has been a tough for our family but lots to be thankful for this year. A big part was still being involved with the guys on this forum😁.
Hope each of you and yours have a great day!
I've done the offal cooked and blended into the gravy or removed after they flavored the gravy.
None of that this year since we are cooking the remianing half of Livie's turkey.
We're going a more traditional route with a half a turkey, sweet potato and green bean casseroles plus a cornbread oyster/sausage dressing.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Looking forward to seeing some meal photos.
Heard a lot about folks using hot dogs for catfish. Sure that those vienna's would work on cats 😁.
An old girlfriend of mine caught plenty of bass in Florida on hot dogs as well. So you may want to keep a tin or two in your tackle box😁.
Congrats on a nice deer! Some of the best eating venison is a young buck. Known to be a young age and more meat than you typically get from a doe.
Those steaks in the last photo look great!
We tend to do steak or if I have them a venison loin meal on Xmas Eve, then we would decorate the tree after dinner. this would usually include a glass of red wine or two.....
Continued to be impressd with the fish that you guys caught. Brett I agree with you about Ham. He's a great fisherman and a great guy to fish with! But he does live and die on every hookset😁.
Looks fantastic Marty! Have to wipe my mouth a bit😌. Been seeing deer snd now some squirrels in the back. No permission from landlord on letting me arrow one of these deer. If I do, will work on a loin roast like yours.
Not quite in KC but I have fished Plover and Coot lakes in the James Reed Memorial WA. These were catch and keep trout lakes when I fished them two seasons ago. Caught half dozen rainbows on olive green microjigs under a small float in Plover on the North end of the lake around old lilies. I would think that olive and flashabou wooly buggers would be similar enough to my microjigs.
I agree. Go ahead and post your personal best.
Here is one of the largest deer I have taken with my bow. Not a buck, but it was the most difficult, frustrating, and rewarding blood trailing job so far.
