  1. Great info Bo. Many of us talk ourselves into where we want them to be. In reality there's still a bunch of them out there patiently waiting their turn. Similar to the fall rut in the woods.
  2. C'mon Mike...there's no fish down here. Best look elsewhere.
  3. Good stuff. Thanks Quill.
  4. I passed a matching wrapped truck/boat heading south on 65 in Hollister on my way north last Sunday afternoon. Black and pink. I couldn't make out who it was.
  5. Agreed. I'd rather be bored catching fish right now than bored at home sorting tackle and waiting for hockey and baseball to start tonight.
  6. I suggest keeping tabs on reports from different areas of the lake and decide where you want to fish. Then narrow it down from there. For instance, I'd hate for you to decide to put in at state park, towards the lower end, and find that the better bite us up lake, requiring a long haul on the water. Good luck and let us know how you do.
  7. I know we've discussed pros and cons of braid, flouro and combos. I have to admit I tinkered a lot last weekend. I like the braid/leader for sensitivity and strong quick hook sets, but struggled fighting the wind with braid and messed around with boat position to account for it which took productive time away. I also tinkered with knots from blood to FG and Shaw Grigsby's that was shared recently. Moving forward I plan to have 2 set ups. One with straight seaguar 6 and one with power pro and leader using Shaw's knot. 1/16 vs 1/8 head played a role with various set ups as well.
  8. Good stuff Ham, thanks for sharing. Mind if I ask what colors they did or did not like?...assume they were mostly on the light head?
  9. My clicker only goes to one....
  10. I know, I should have listened. There's one anyway. And she's still there.
  11. Good job Cheese. How deep were you getting bit on the jig? Thanks Dave
  12. 24/7....they were 15' in 28' a quick follow up on today. Caught 5 short fish, mix of LM and SM this morning. All on PBJ Ned in in 12' of water on the back corner of docks on the down wind side. There was a little "current" under the ramp between the shore and the dock if that makes sense. Seemed to be the ticket. Still tough, but better.
  13. Got down Friday in time to fish a couple of hours before dark. Fished Beardsley. Water temp was 55 at the mouth and 57 in the pockets further back. Caught 2 barely legal SM. 1 on a Houdini Ned and 1 on 4" Keitech swim bait. Both in the warmer water. Saw a lot of surface activity at dusk but wasn't prepared for the top water bite and stuck with the small stuff. Got on the water this morning mid morning and started with the same stuff without a sniff. Jig, Ned (pb&j), wart, Ned (dirt), rock crawler, Ned (Houdini), shakey head, RK, wobble head, nothing. Switched to a 10" power worm and finally caught a big 4.5 lb female LM half way back in a pocket in 15 fow around 11:30. Tried to replicate and couldn't get bit again. WT at the back of the pocket was 60 but no bites or activity. Graphed a lot of suspended fish in the middle and mouths of the pockets and tried the jerkbait but no takers. Did not try drop shot. Got frustrated and came in for dinner. Went back out for the last hr of light and caught 2 short SM on a green/red RK in 15' on a chuck rock point. Highest water temp I saw was 62.7 in the back of a main lake pocket. It had some of the red blood bloom in it. No fish or hits. Hoping the warmer temps, cloud cover and a little rain provides more action in the AM. Tough tough day. All in all a great day though...fortunate to be above ground and able to enjoy the outdoors.
  14. What he said^
  15. Good stuff Mike. Thanks
  16. Thanks the report. Glad you got into them. Sorry to hear of the mechanical trouble.
  17. Good looking group. Wish I was there. We're Alabama on our way south for spring break with the kids. Hope to make this event in future to meet everyone in person. Dave
  18. Merc - they are probably out shopping for replacement buoys and wave runners. Or fishing off their 26' cruisers.
  19. Excellent report. Thanks for sharing.
  20. Great report and cool picture. Also liked the reference to your brother!
  21. you know we're getting desperate when we resort to sharing how our junk looks, sounds and how we get it back, instead of being out there using it
  22. If the windy points don't produce I'd head elsewhere in search of dirty shallower water. Lastly, after watching MLF recently, I might try drop shotting or swim baititing around concrete bridge piles under 86. The sun should warm up the concrete and transfer warmth to the water and fish below. Maybe a long shot but another thought anyway.
  23. Bobby, I personally would fish the SE facing/wind blown points across from the dam. Jerkbait, Crankbait, Ned, Jig. Good luck and let us know how you do.
  24. Clarification, the green craw does have some sort of rattle to it but very faint and you really have to shake it to get any sound....
  25. Bought a 3 RC's tonight. Green craw, Phantom craw and Red craw. All have different sounds. One sounds like the original wart the other has a higher pitch like the more recent warts and one without any sound at all...no rattles. Same packaging. Has anyone else run into this?
