Thanks. His birthday is this Wednesday, so wanted to put something together that he and i shared many years of together. He was only 2 when i first took him to the deer woods. We took his toys up in the heated blind. He lasted 45 minutes then slept 3 hours. Funny how we latch on to things at times.

Really appreciate it guys. Those 15 months or so i went awal from here was a little of a struggle. This past weekend we did a little wall art in the den. The center picture is his last deer he shot 3 seasons ago. Last day of gun season. As we got out of the truck, i snapped a picture of him walking out to his spot, so we stuck that picture below his last deer. The other 2 are me. We will be adding the picture i posted here with his bow, and will attach the arrow i used. Really appreciate the kind words everyone.

Well, i got out at 7:45 this morning. Didn’t see anything but squirrels. Got out of the blind at noon to go eat. At 1:09 camera sent pictures of 5 does. Got back out at 1:50. Pretty windy so didn’t have much hope as the wind was blowing from my back. At 4:41 i seen movement coming from where they should have been. 5 total came out. 3 went to the north, 1 to the south, and 1 stood at the edge on alert. As i was trying to hit record, and my noisy chair being all loud, i dropped the camera, grabbed the bow that didn’t have an arrow knocked, stuck the arrow in as they grouped back up at the edge. 4 started walking back into the woods as this one hesitated. Let the arrow fly at 38 yards. She never took another step. Piled up right there. After opening her up, couldn’t have gotten a straighter heart shot. This one was pretty special to me. I’m a pretty emotional guy at times. Just as soon as she dropped, i felt a tear drop. A tad over 2 years ago my 32 year old son passed away. We were best buds. He worked full time for me, was my hunting buddy, and we seen each other 6 days a week. Rarely was there a day after work he didn’t give me a hug as we left work, and said “i love you dad”. 3 weeks before he passed away he bought a new bow, and was very excited to get to hunt with it, as his other bow was pretty outdated. Today i shot this deer with the bow my son would have used. As i sat next to this deer, before letting anyone know, so many memories rushed thru my heart. This is one I won’t forget. Took me 2 seasons to even want to open his bow case.

Anyone going out tomorrow? I will be out for 1/2 day until we head out to fish. Looks like it may get a bit windy in the afternoon.

Guys, i just got done eating the best burger i have ever shoved in my throat. Small place in Republic called RepMo burger Co. The fries were just as tasty. If you truly want a great burger, stop buy. Their FB page has info. I hear their tacos and shakes are the bomb too.

I sold my electronics to a guy in Ohio recently. During our talks he asked if Mo. was the same as Ohio in that tournament permits are issued by the total number of tournament boats on a body of water that day. So if the lake can comfortably handle 100 tournament boats this Saturday, and there is a tournament that has 100 boats, that’s the only permit issued. If there are 3 clubs with 33 boats each, then 3 tournaments will be going on that day. The good and the bad: Great to limit the amount of boats. He said the bad is, because this is a new concept for Ohio, is that several clubs have said they would have 75 boats, when in reality they only have 10, to have the lake to themselves that day. He said there is lots of talk from those that issue permits on how to handle that issue. Could this be done here? You bet. The permits issuers would need to grow a set of nuts first. IM ALL FOR IT.

Haha. That has been my thought several times. I have even got under the console to make sure things still look straight. I usually don’t even realize it until I’m up on my feet, then i think “I’ve gotta stop doing that”.

I have never been back.

Here is our little 5 pound toy. Very rarely is she not in the boat. The gator picture was taken on Fork last year about 2 seconds before Ellie jumped from the back of the boat, right on that gators tail. She had to potty and thought that grass mat was the shore i guess. Boy my better half about had a heart attack.

I know. After 30+ years in a boat, i should know better. But that dang habit is hard to break i guess.

When Stratos did away with the Champion, he was fishing out of the 210 Stratos “Champion” hull for a few years. Then when PE “Platinum Equity” consolidated Stratos, Champion “tho Champion was already on the way out” and Ranger, Mike just went right into the Ranger boat. I believe this was around 2014

Almost EVERY single time i get up i notice myself pulling my 203 pounds out of that seat with both hands on the wheel. I do tell myself that i need to stop it, but that thought is long forgotten when i grab a rod.

I remember as a youth, my parents bringing home food from Long John Silvers. We opened it up all excited to eat, and there were maggots inside. Never will forget that day. Us siblings still laugh about that day when we get together.

So, when your dog has at a minimum of 22 “pictured” outfits, at least one for every holiday, you know they aren’t going without food.

I’m a Freddys junky, and love the fries, but hate having to grab 10, line them up in my hand, bite the ends off to make them the same length, just to dip them in the spicy fry sauce. Speaking of Whataburger. I would take a Freddys burger over them any day, BUT……. What Freddys can NOT compete with Whataburger are a few select menu options, those being: Breakfast on a bun. Yummy Honey butter chicken biscuit is the bomb. You should try this. Their onion rings are great. Batter is thin and not oily like other places. The Whatachicken bites dipped in gravy hits my taste buds. Try some of these if you go. Oh yeah, apple pie.

You know, i read some of Randys stuff, and watch a video here and there. As with wrench, I’m in the same mindset that it takes some toughness to go against the more favorable stance, which in todays market is FFS, building on every open spot of land big enough to fit a tiny home, and giving the gov’ment more and more of your money. I respect the guy for speaking out against something, that without a doubt is not in the best interest of this planet. On a side note, our bass club has gone to fishing solo, 1 guy per boat with a 3 fish limit which was adopted for co-anglers in 2010 in B.A.S.S tournaments. That little change should help a few bass over the next few years.

So i have never smoked anything in my life, meat or otherwise. Better 1/2 bought me a smoker last year for Fathers Day i believe, and never used it. Since I’m on vaca this week, what better time would i have than to attempt some ribs. So, here they are. I made my sauce using molasses, ketchup, sea salt, acv “extra”, worcestershire and brown sugar. Rubbed with sea salt and a sweet rub. I used apple wood for the smoke. I must say it taste better than I expected.

Do we have a picture of her yet from your cameras?

Congrats. Way to figure it out. The jerk bait has been good for me the past 3 weeks in coves. Crank for areas with deeper water close by.
