  1. Thats why your your own free bird. I will fish those pet fish every chance i get. They taste better than those dinky dock fish elsewhere, as they get the pizza scraps tossed overboard those houseboats. We seen several boat owners on their slips that day, and not a one said a word. But in our defense, i dont believe out of 1000 5" spoons being tossed in and around, one ever made a clunk. So those old blind buzzards probably never seen, and definitely didnt hear us at that age.

Nice info Dutch. I will be back out there tomo. morning for a little longer try at it. My mornings have always been a better bite this year. Seems i cant find them in the afternoons. Mornings they have been schooled in pockets near deeper water for weeks. That bite dies around 10am for me, then i leave.

Got out today at 3:30. Launched at Masters and ran towards Ruark. Fished a few points with not a sniff. Tried bluffs with wood, nadda. 5 and time to head back. Pull up on the point by the ramp with my Texas Rigged worm, cast out with boat in 8' casting out to 18. Worm didnt make it 1/3 way down 1st cast and this 3.2 had it. Only fish in an hour and a half. Seen some busting top across the cove but i was happy with the 1 decent fish. Water temp 83, pretty decent chop and wind in the open areas of the lake. Water is a beautiful color.
  4. It was Jeff Sprague. That format is something i find very intriguing. You can challenge a pro, or another Joe to fish against you, on your body of water. Money is always a factor in anything. They have a minimum of $500 and max i believe upwards of $15,000. In this case it was $5000 with Sprague winning.
  5. aarchdale and myself were out there with them, spooning docks as well. We caught fish on spoons, tube, and wacky under docks in deep water. A little storm came thru, which really cooled it down in a hurry. we launched at Port of Kimberling.
  6. whats the new boat? Congrats on the sell.
  7. They haul it there as they dont have a slip on Taney.
  8. I agree. And instead of saying anything, sounds like he took the high road and just left. Since im 99.9% a bass guy, i rarely run into those situations. Being the outspoken guy at times, im not sure how i would handle it. In a respectful manner of course, but not sure if i would say anything to them, or just move on. People are clueless at times.
  9. Thats how i feel with my 19' boat. As far as 500 boats in a tournament, thats small numbers. I have fished Fork, Texoma, TR, Mead, Erie inlets, Kentucky, Powell, and hundreds of smaller lakes, and even with the largest of tournamets going on, have never not found a place to fish, without feeling crowded. Im not a river guy, but i could see it there, but not on a larger body of water. Maybe your idea of no fishing spot differs from mine.
  10. That Skeeter tourney was in Texas. 350HP? The guy has lost his meds to the dog.
  11. I use tube hooks. 1/4 ounce typically. Its a great alternative when they are feeding on the bottom, especially really shallow on rocks. So many different ways to fish a tube. It has an erratic fall if you use the jerk method, jerking it off the bottom instead of dragging it. All of the fish on this day were caught dragging it. Last week they wanted it jerked off the bottom, and would hit it as it was falling back down.
  12. Carp people dont own boats, so move along.
  13. Glad you guys had a great trip. This is a beautiful lake. I keep hearing about the slab sized bluegills but havent caught any myself after fishing this lake 20 years. Im sure thats due to me bass fishing 99.9% of the time. Looking forward to your report from the next visit.
  14. Glad you found the issue. In my case it fuse #42 under the hood.
  15. I agree. A basic guideline stating what your policy "if you call it that" is so those doing so can follow your wants.
  16. This was taken this past saturday. Cordinates are on the screen so you can narrow the area down.
  17. Heres our schedule. Get back and away from that nasty area your in. 😃
  18. I will look for you shortly.
  19. Had this same thing this morning. I seem to do it monthly. While hooking up my trailer plug to the truck , it connects to the wrong terminal as i cant see due to darkness, and blows a fuse under the hood of my Superduty every time. Like you, everything works normal but the running lights. Replaced fuse and good til the next time i do it. Took a lot of trouble shooting the first time to figure it out.
  20. Heres what the second shoreline looked like were the topwater fish came. And the smallest smallie ive ever caught at Stockton.
  21. Launched at Masters at 5:45am. Ran just a short distance towards the dam. Found a point with fist sized rock and 2nd cast caught a 14" bass. Putthat down and picked up the green pumpkin tube. Those that i fish with know i love a tube. Aarchdale and his dad were driving up, so i started sending him pictures of LM and SM i was catching. On a 50 yards stretch, in 45 minutes, i boated 17 bass, and lost 3 that came unhooked. Motored acrossthe pocket just as a bass blew up on shad in 8 inches of water. Had a walking bait tied on, and as soon as it hit the water, he came out of the water with it in his mouth. After about another 8fish on that stretch, i left the area. Every fish caught was in less than 2 foot of water, most in less than a foot against the shore chasing shad up tight. It was a great morning to be out.
  22. Around the Masters area its at 25' roughly. Its pretty spotty tho as i didnt notice much more towards the dam. Lots of active fish just above it.
  23. Heck of a trip. Were did you launch?
  24. we agree. Sweet. If i liked the taste of fish, i would take those fish home that i have seen floating after a tourney. I hear they make good fertilizer for a garden, so maybe i can capitalize in another way.
  25. you helped "pioneer" tournament fishing in the midwest? Or am i reading that wrong, and you mean someone else?
