A few more pigs ate the wooly bugger this evening. Some bass too, but that first Gill is the biggest so far out of this little pond.
-
Jungle Jim I think I know that first pond! That second pond bass is a real dandy. I'd love to stick a pig like that!
-
Dang Duane! Save some big brownies for the rest of us lol. Nice job man. Wish I could be down there...
-
Amazing pics! Looks like some solid fish too!
-
Have no idea lol. Maybe @Johnsfolly will know.

Yeah, even on a 5wt they were putting a good bend in it... I think guys mostly target the bass in these ponds, so there's a healthy population in there. Steep banks and the brush were a pain for casting, but good practice fishing tight areas. Saw 2 crappie that were both huge. Wouldn't commit to the wooly bugger though... Suns out now... Itching to go back lol

Had a few hours to kill this morning. Seen some big gills at one of our ponds so I headed out in the drizzle. I'm glad I did as they started hammering a wooly bugger on the strip. Fought like crazy and prolly caught over a dozen with almost none smaller than my hand. Finally broke tippet off on a big one and I was pretty soaked. Called it and headed in to work... Wooly bugger in red with a gold head, although with the way they were hitting could of probably thrown any color. Had 2 bass to hand as well, but they were little guys.

Those are awesome. Can't wait to see some more.

Man I've read that report a ton of times and DUH! Lol. I got information overload going on here... And I need a vacation Thanks SiO3!

Thanks for the replies guys! Ok, we did some planning this evening, we are staying the night in Silt CO so I'll be pretty close to the White River national Forest on that Friday. Any areas around there that would be good? That evening we'll be heading closer to the RMNP. I have a few leads there on where to go, but any advice for around the Glenn wood springs / White River area would be great.

Thanks SiO3! I will check them out. Assuming a 9ft 5wt will serve me well? I could also just break down and finally buy a 3wt for the smaller streams. I've read that just about every stream off the roads will hold fish. Pretty excited to get out there and hopefully can land at least one LOL.

Nice! Details on the catch?
-
Nice Buddy! Would of made an awesome OneCast fish! I guess we can still allow it! Glad you were able to get her landed.

Went out around 7:00PM last night. Had the front come through and the Bass were on fire. Nothing huge, but I caught 14 on a senko and 2 on a BilletHead Fry topwater in about an hour and a half. They were still biting when dark hit and the bugs tried to carry me off LOL.

On our way home from AZ, WY, and our Canyon trip out west we'll be stopping in CO so I can hopefully land a Colorado trout. I'll have the family in tow so looking for areas where they can find stuff to do while I sneak off for a bit to fish. Also any advice on places to stay around the area is appreciated. motroutbum I sent ya a PM, as last I read I think you were still guiding out there?

I've been working for the past 2 years in my free time on an app with Phil to use for his trout measuring tournaments... Its been a learning experience for sure, which sadly due to my full time job has been a bit neglected lately. I have used it for his CAM tourney and it works well as far as water marking a photo of the fish with a date / time/ GPS stamp. Which then uploads to a channel where he could monitor our catches. We also have a measuring tool within the app which we are working to key off a reference object( currently a 4x4 tile) which would then auto measure your catch. Measuring tool works, but its still quite cumbersome. My point being is the technology is out there. If I can get an App built with one guy doing dev work and me doing design work, somebody with a dedicated team doing this as their job the possibilities are limitless. You could easily tie in a Bluetooth enabled scale into the App if you wanted weight as well. I will say its not as fast as writing down the length of your catch in a notebook. It can also be challenging getting fish to hold still in a location to get a pic, but every one was using it, it would level the playing field. My developer that was working with me on it has had even less time to work on it than I have, but it is still a passion that I am chasing and trying to get out there in the app store so that it could be used by our Forum members. I'm looking for Android and iOS devs too if anyone has those skill sets!

Nice report! I love your analogies and metaphors! Makes for some spirited reading! Glad you guys had a great trip.

Sounds like a deal! Should be down that way earlier part of June. We are planning a trip to Spring and Rubidoux, but will shoot ya a PM as I'd love to finally hit Crane.

Next time you and the fam are in town we need to make it happen! I'm sure the girls would love getting back together. I got 3 ponds now just minutes from the house.

Looks like a great time my friend. I'm waiting for the gills in our pond to figure out I'm trying to catch them. I've seen some monsters in there that I am pretty sure would go 10 inches. Need to get some worms as I've not been able to get them to commit to small jigs. Glad to see your specimens cooperated!

So I was in BP this weekend restocking on my worms after my Pond adventures. I'm building out some better kit for chasing bass as I've been so focused on trout. Our pond fish love finesse worms and they tear them up. Found and bought 2 nice little kits called Chompers Finesse. Came with 40 worms, 10 jig heads, and the Plano box for $16. When I opened the kit I saw it was made by Table Rock bait and Tackle company. Always good to support the home brands. I'm sure there are better more expensive options out there, but for the money they are going to be hard to beat. Fish were tearing them up too, and its a great little kit to keep me and my girls fishing. Just wanted to forward along on what I considered a pretty good find. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/chompers-51-piece-finesse-rig-kit

Man thats a huge copperhead! Hopefully he makes something cool out of it.

One of these days I'm going to required your guide services there! Still on my list to fish. Thanks for sharing as always.

Welcome, never been to that park, but theres also a Stockton lake forum section so hopefully if you post in there someone will chime in with some good advice.

Yeah with my dad battling it now, hes had 2 chunks taken out of his nose, I figured I better start early. I'll have to check that hat out. I never wear baseball caps as I get a funky sun line on the old bald noggin, but I do wear a booney hat if I'm gonna be out all day. That was also my reasoning for getting the hoodie as the hood has good coverage and covers the ears. Kept the gnats out of my ears too on Saturday. Bugs are thick out there already...
