    I caught a baby tarpon in the gulf in a creek/marsh with the fly rod tossing out a clouser. Silver carp the same way in a creek south of St. Louis that flows to the Mississippi. I’ve tried to catch walleye at chain of rocks after a guy told me how he does it, no luck.

    Thanks man. I taught myself and I frequently wonder if im missing out. Have always wondered about the equipment. That said being an angling addict and fishing just about every water I see, I’ve been forced to get better in highly technical and undesirable situations. When I fish with others I sometimes see them making these elaborate casts and here I am giving the minimum effort within my ability to get the fly near the fish. I usually catch more than my company haha.

    50s is great for getting stuff done outside, 40s too if the wind is low. 30s and below you can keep it.

    Had a deer cross the road out there the other day and had to lock em up. Blood Alley is bad enough without the rut making the the deer fearless of cars. My folks hit one last year on 21 this time last year..

    A buddy of mine was healed from sciatica by cupping (haha I know) and acupuncture. I walked in on it once and will never forget that sight unfortunately.

    One of the guys who works at Sam’s tackle shop, Chris, had just landed a shark on an 8wt in the last week.

    Built my first shark rig and hooked a three foot black tip but it broke loose in the surf before I could get my camera out and my son was getting chewed by black flies so we called it a night. 135# steel cable to 80# mono to braid… We were running steel leaders when fishing for reds because the sharks were thick for some reason, maybe all the recent rain…. Also the Crappie Magnet proved to be just as strong of “catch everything” type lure for my son in the salt as it is in freshwater (baby reds, croaker, specked sea trout, pinfish, lady fish, needlefish)
