    What's Cooking?

Tongue is the worst appearance and smell I’ve seen in a kitchen. It is repulsive in preparation and delicious once the preparation image is compartmentalized. It was a deer season tradition to have beef salad sandwiches...I hold no regret the tradition went by the wayside.
  2. Sincere thanks for advising there is a crappie bite. Too often you hear how it was and rarely how the crappie bite is. Was able to get out with my dad and my son and catch a mess today. Thanks man.
  3. I have 4strokes on a pontoon and a duck boat that force me to check the oil annually 🙂 under the cowl.... and I drain the carbs after duck season on my Honda.
  4. Website is full of buzz words and marketing for sure. No pictures or model portfolio to be found.... hopefully they are friendly to multiple outboards and buck the current trend. I’ve owned most other than Suzuki and I’m open to look at those. My favorite outboard is the one with the cowl latches dusty from leaving them alone...
  5. Several years ago I went to a Rick Clunn seminar. One of his very logical choices was to use the same length rod for as much as possible. May be different powers and tip speed, but same handle type and length to improve casting accuracy. It does make switching rigs much simpler. Other than very cold jerkbait or flipping, I use 7’ exclusively. It does aid in casting accuracy for sure. Just a share of the Zen masters rod advice... btw, I second the motion to pick one hand to cast and reel with the other. Spin or bait cast.
  6. https://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs/bass-fishing/2010/04/merwin-how-manage-line-twist-spinning-reel there are a ton of causes of twist. Reeling against the drag, spooling technique and on and on. Thankfully twisted braid just doesn’t seem to care...if it did my son would be hosed.
  7. If $ was no concern would you still lean pflueger president vs shimano stradic or abu revo?
  8. Are these truly good or just good for the price? I’m not judging opinion, rather want to understand spinning reels. I find myself needing one more frequently than I used too though they rarely start the day on the deck. Have 3 different brands now and models and just not a fan of any. Either balance is weird, knob on handle is goofy, distance from blank to bail is odd, etc
  9. Rock changes and points were best for us today. Wind was serious enough we didn’t spend much time on the north side. Jerkbait, wart and my son caught a couple on a ned. Still full of life in 52-53 water. 2-8 ft.

    4 rivers

Think about the boat lanes and wind before you head out. Sunk a 1436 with 2 buddies several years back. We were way heavy when we nosed it under a wave. 2nd coldest I’ve ever been.
  11. Didn’t wait for dvr. Having watched it I wish I had gone to the ceremony. Like BPS or not, the favorable light on outdoors and conservation is a broad beam. No doubt it will indeed positively influence perception of countless youth as discussed. Not to get political but, GW did a great job and I miss the sincerity of self deprecating humor. Almost forgot how “normal” he speaks vs the canned speech of the past decade... great show.
  12. Thanks! Set the DVR. It’s on twice Monday. My family has been thru a few times now and I can’t wait to hear some back stories. It is an amazing place.
  13. Winter crappie walleye flathead / crappie it seems if catfish come from clean water, they are delicious. We let Truman blues hang out in clean well water and they clean up too
  14. $5k seems a bit much. The m not sure I could get an agent to reasonably do that on my house. Then again, I asked my son (8) to read a label for me yesterday when I cooked breakfast and he advised to preheat the oven to 4000 degrees.... you never know where an extra zero will show up other than rarely in your favor.
  15. I’m inclined to buy a lifetime supply before the designs and colors become ruined.
  16. Wire nuts save RTV for a while. Days, maybe weeks, nothing for months. Supe glue, bulk harbor freight and trash at first problem.

  18. Wow and thanks. Prior to reading I've been nothing but excited to take my son again this weekend for his first tournament (little buddy derby). I'm now shifting to planning another 3 generation trip. U never know and he started my fishing addiction for sure. Thanks for the share and grounding us all. Well done sir.
  19. Can't say I retired but, I also can't get too excited to start again. Other than big bass events to payouts are terrible. Entry, fuel lodging (forget about time) and winning most of the trail events is break even. $1500 first place in a team trail is sad. The co-angler side of the old central or heartland pro-ams paid better.
  20. Nicest thing I've read on the internet today.

  22. Congrats champ. Where do we send the spoils?
  23. VZW is solid on TR.
  24. I think SI at the helm is the ticket. Networking would be nice, switchfire on Humminbird units is nice and simple and allows depth readings at speed thru the hull. I put a larger 9 on the bow as it is further from my eyes than the 7 on the helm is. Both are easy enough to see with middle age? eyes. If networked, an SI on the bow might be neat though I'd not want the SI transducer on the trolling motor. The DI is expensive enough to bang on the bottom and the US2 in the fortrex is darn near indestructible.
  25. Amen champ. Keep the ocean vessels on ocean connected waterways.
