I tied up eight Lunch Monies in size 6. Four in white and four in olive/black. I did no legs because the rules around that at some of the trout areas are gray. But they should be perfect for the white bass run coming up. Do I need more? Will be sending this week.

Imagine not letting your line load up and taking that square to the back. I am wincing thinking about it. Looks great, though! -
Article on fishing a Jigging Rap on TR
Ryan Miloshewski replied to Quillback's topic in Table Rock Lake
Written by John, who some of you met at Taneyfest this year. He fished with Tim that Sunday. -
I agree with what Pete and Phil said. Phil being the most up to date on tactics. As far as things that work all the time for me, jigs with 3-lb braid to 2-lb fluoro works great. Jig size depending on water flow. I really like a 1/16-oz a majority of the time. If it's 4 units running, go to 1/8. With jerkbaits, 110+1 or deeper with 4 units running and 110 or less with less units running. Really, my favorite are Duane's Signature Series or Megabass, but I am sure most would work. As Pete said, stop into Phil's spot (Lilley's Landing) and talk to the folks in the fly shop and Blake on the dock. They will put you in the right direction with the most up to date information. Feel free to send me a message if you want to discuss anything in depth! Good luck, catch a giant!

Playing with Color Combos
Ryan Miloshewski replied to Ryan Miloshewski's topic in General Flyfishing Topics
I agree. You really can't beat a lunch money or a single Boogie Man. But I do like tying the articulated ones. It's like my yoga..very zen. I also hate game changers. Never had a fish look at one. -
Playing with Color Combos

Thanks, guys. I have come a long way over the years. Lot of failure! The thing I'm annoyed with is putting the eyes on. It makes them look a lot better to fishermen, but you get one good fish and there isn't enough super glue in the world that'll hold 'em. And they're expensive. But it's one of those things, I suppose. -
Kevin used to call nymphs with tungsten like that "u-bangy-rigs." U bangy the bottom with those

Been busy tying for customers, myself, and just to kill time during this bad weather. Playing around with color combinations with DnDs and Slug-Os. Threw in a Boogie Man, too. My favorite articulated streamer is the DnD (with the Slug-O a close second). The way it darts and cuts through the water really replicates the action of a jerkbait--as long as you don't do the normal, fairly worthless strip, strip, pause when retrieving it. Work the rod tip! Anyway, need to get some recon and see which colors work. Here are some samples. Also, I have found deer belly hair to be the best for the wedge heads. You can use body hair, but you really need a lot and need to pack it super tight.

I will be home Sunday and will tie mine up. I am sticking with the original foam theme and will do eight Hippie Stompers--my favorite hopper pattern of all time. I thought about doing some DnDs but I wasn't sure how many of you are streamer junkies like me!

Yea there is a lot of food, but I agree with Jeff. I brought 75 crappie fillets thinking that'd be enough to serve as snacks with the rest of the dishes. It was gone in about 30 min lol. I forgot how much people like fried crappie. @ness you just need to go next year and experience it for yourself. I can take you out fishing! -
Oh, you might as well count me in. Dusted off the vise this weekend so I'm back in the mood

It was a pleasure fishing with you and thank you for the kind words. I’m glad we got that nice brownie! What a great time, as always.

They are tasty and truly have the texture/consistency of a ribeye, without the fat, though. I would still take a speck over them. Good waterfowl fat is a close second to beef fat IMO.
-
Crane is great but I still say specks are the best because of the fat content. Crane doesn't have any fat.

You forgot the best reservoir of them all, Troost Lake! -
Hey, now. I was simply trying to wrangle BHR's brother in law from them. And the bride turned out to be marrying one of my buddies from high school. So, how rude it would be to not be friendly to the rest of the bachelorette group..

Best tasting waterfowl in the world, IMO. Awesomely tarred up, too!

Had the unthinkable happen this weekend. One of my best friends was chasing down a cripple in a boat and hit a stump. It threw him into the water and he didn't make it. Only reason I am saying this is to remind everyone who duck hunts how dangerous it can be, especially in weather like this. Things can go south fast. He was only 28, and one of the best guys I knew. He taught me a lot about duck hunting, fly fishing, fly tying, and just about anything you can imagine as far as outdoor activities. Be safe, carry a knife to cut wader straps, and don't take anything for granted.
