  1. Just finished a couple full day fishing floats in my pack angler. Used a double and single paddle. Boat handles quick, at 30lbs light to portage alone. My only issue is it get harder for me to get out every year. Looking at selling/trading for maybe a Old Town Camper or Applacation or something similar. Would like to sit up a bit higher open to ideas and suggestions. g
  2. The nipple down is a rather high injury. That said I would suggest some manner of loading the chair into the boat or using a spider chair as obviously he would need a life jacket and straping him in a chair attached to the boat would be dangerous. In Arkansas I have seen several ramps on the White River with a ramp you can pull the boat next too and a devise to lift a person into the boat. I know there is a set up at the conflunce of the Norfork and the White. Let me do some looking. g
  3. Been through this my self with a friend and sister. Both were able to roll their chairs to the nose of the bass boat (forget hull damage) and transfer themselves into the boat from there able to work to the seat, then fish, life is good. Butt seats bad, full seat with arms the best. Pontoon may be great in a dock, bass boat better from bank. ALWAYS put a note on the wheel chair if you leave it at the ramp or put it back in the truck. It is rather stressful returning to search and rescue looking for the person missing from the chair. Do not be in a hurry, BUT the MOST important thing, take them as often as you can, enjoy your time together it is good for everyone. g
  4. http://springfield.craigslist.org/boa/2489887743.html what Justin said.
  5. Skipper Gene I would suggest PM to Doug Vahrenberg he is the Humminbird guy. I have a 798 si but added another di through the hull with a y cable. You may want to look at Bass Boat Central as there are some great electronics guys there, including Doug. They gave me the numbers and suggested where the best price was to get what I needed. g
  6. That's what I use also.
  7. www.rimshoals.com Gary, Paula, AB and Rebeca are great host. They have everything from camper cabins (ac etc. shower house) to the lodge cabins. Fishing excellent.
  8. North Fork of the White River should be fine below Rainbow Spring. River of Life or Sunburst Ranch have everything you want or need, I prefer during the week during the summer.... but have to fish deeper than most folks are used to. 11 pt. is excellent also] g
  9. JR You know that anywhere above Jenkins Flat Creek is loaded with diamond back rattle moccasins not to mention the locals with hidden cameras.....
  10. Just a couple of suggestions, there is a public fishing dock just east of the dam that I see people fish with some sucess. As Oneshot said the Pittsburg park is a good area. There is one of the MDC brush piles just south of the boat ramp that is within casting distance of the bank. I would use a 3/8 or 1/2 oz jig or wt. to find it then fish it with a slip bobber and jig or minnow at about 12 ft. depth. Sorry do not know the campsite number near the brush pile. but there are numerous and there is a sign on a tree near it. take a look at http://newmdcgis.mdc.mo.gov/statewidefishattractors/ there are several that near the bank that you could fish. They tend to hold fish year round.
  11. How much? Does it use a external puck, if so is it included. Thanks
  12. A few of my friends have fiberglass bass boats with wraps. They were installed as a sponsor deal however they seem to love them as it makes the boat slick and easy to clean plus provides protection.... My question is 1) could it be installed on a Alum. boat? 2) would it help the alum boat "slide" over rocks etc better as we know Alum hangs up. Just considering for a riverboat application.
  13. I hope to be up Thursday & Friday, and again 5/3-/5/5 will let you know what I know, but appears to be the only fishable area around. Everything south is blown out. g
  14. The same as the Ranger who runs the Shawnee with a 20 horse jet.... there are exceptions.
  15. I have a 2010 navionics south prem in my humminbird. It does not actually list Taney, but when I move the cursor between Table Rock and Bull Shoals it is there, appears to have depth contours of about 10', along with islands sand bars etc. It shows the cooper creek boat ramp and Lillys Landing Resort so it can not be all bad... I am not a great fan of the maps on LCDs but its as good as any, and I like being able to mark small spots etc. Get someone to loan you one and take a look. If I am around will be glad to show you or let you see it. It was $80 something on Amazon including shipping, I think it came from iboats? g
  16. Criket Gavin is correct. Those would attach to your rack. You can buy the yellow gas pipe and paint it for the cross bars and make any length you like. I have wrestled and made homemade deals for 25 years, bought my first set of yakima last year, (used) what was I waiting for SO much better. here is a used set. http://springfield.craigslist.org/spo/2287490575.html g
  17. I have a disco 16 9 that has been a staple for 15 years, ran solo and loaded best boat I own. The only other canoe I would consider would be a 17 4 tripper, wt. is about the same but stable and a pack horse. But Justin makes me wonder.

  23. The water may or may not be running, you will not really know until you get there. Depends on lake level, and weather. There is always some wade fishing. Often they may not turn on until up in the day then you can fish near the dam, the jump in the car and go to wildcat, rim shoals or Buffalo City and fish the rest of the day. Not sure where you are staying but the water taxi at Rim Shoals is a great option, they can ferry you to the islands or Jenkins Creek for about $5 can save a trip. Unless really big water there is always some wade fishing there. Check out their website www.rimshoals.com
  24. First, we appreciate the ideas and support. Just a quick update, the "agency" VocRehab was using went out of business so starting over. But the new outfit seems to be trying hard. He has been doing volunteer work and keeping busy. We just keep praying he finds a job he can 'fit" in. DChance contrary to what many folks say the "special needs" Teachers are trying their best but with the "no child left behind" mess many of these kids get trampled in the herd. Just stay involved and supportive and don't limit his opportunities.
