  1. A friend and I fished the White for two days. At the recommendation of a fellow OA member, we used Don Cranor's Guide Service. We had hoped to fish lures, but four gates made that a problem. We switched to drag fishing bait, shad or crawdad meat, after two fruitless hours. 10 browns the first day, five for each of us. The first picture is Larry with the largest of the day, approximately 24 inches. Only one rainbow. The second day we had a different guide. Only seven browns, but 12 to 15 rainbow. The second picture is a 21" rainbow, the largest I have ever caught. The third picture is a 26" brown, the largest I have caught since fishing with Elvin Weaver in 1999. Note that I did not long arm either fish. The guide held them for a quick picture after we measured them, and then released them. I would recommend Don Cranors service.

  3. Fat Guys Bungee and Tackle Emporium? Wong's Dragon Bar and Tackle Shop? (The customer is never Wong)
  4. Good job, James!
  5. Good stuff! I do a very slightly different version, but yours is great!

    What's Cooking?

Weird shepherd's pie. Sliced potatoes on a ground beef and onions, turnips, carrots, peas, corn, and snap peas stew.
  7. Welcome! On Stockton, hire Ed Golloway (LmtOut). One trip with him will teach you a ton about walleye. Check the articles on this board on walleye. They will help as well. Good luck.

    June Walleye

This time of year I recommend an "original series" wiggle wart on ten pound metered braid. Use the Precision Trolling dive curves. Run it down the sides of the point as well as across. On flats, look for ditches and humps. Also, find where the flats drop into the channel, even if the drop off depth is over 25 feet. Walleye will be near. Walleye will rise as much a 5 to 10 feet too take a bait. Last of all, BS is high. Troll just outside the "normal" shoreline. Good luck.
  9. Seven or 8 years ago, I had a day like the one you describe. Storm, under a dock, topwater marathon afterward (I counted. 63) Only a few keepers, but very fun. I was walking a Top Dollar. Wish I can have another day like that soon.
  10. Go to the What's Cooking thread. Started in February of 2015 by Ness, board members have made over 12,000 posts. Many of these are fish recipes, including fishburgers, chowders, fish pies, and even ceviche.

Penne with homemade dirty alfredo, cold smoked salmon (lox), and our patio garden snap peas.
  12. Great trip, good report!
  13. Great fish! And I am very pleased to see no bass or trout on the stringer. What is you favorite way to prepare walleye?

    What's Cooking?

Older daughter has been visiting. Family gatherings have led to good restaurants. The wife and I have eaten three weeks of meals in three days. Tonight, we had a salad. Leaves, tomato, kalamata olives, onion, capers, herbed dressing, feta, and smoked mussels. Tomorrow, the whole damfam will come for the pulled pork and horseradish coleslaw Memorial Day sliders.
  15. Think on this: All of the haters have never, and will never, catch a SM that big. When they show us something in that same class, maybe then we should listen.
  16. Who is responsible? Who is to blame? All are responsible. All are to blame. If repeated horror occurs in the world, and none take action to prevent it, then the above becomes true. This is not politics. This is decency, humanity, compassion, and good sense. The very things that differentiate us from pond scum.

    What's Cooking?

Once sugar is in the mix, dark brown happens in a flash.

  22. All of you, except Phil, are despicable. We might as well highlight Trav, Coldwaterfisher, and that someone called Dallas.

  24. Several weeks ago I posted about deciding to begin fly fishing warm water while wet wading. I received much valuable advice about buying and setting up a "first" rod. In the mail today I received a box from Billethead (Marty). He sent me a starter fly kit. Included were his famous clousers. Check out the picture! This is more than a starter. Thank you Marty! BTW, my wife hoped it was honey. Message me so we can buy more, please.
