  1. No actual reports, but based on year time and moon cycle we should be entering the up the river and shallow time in the next 4 weeks,
  2. Listen to Al. The rest are stuck in fantasy land.
  3. Good. I like to see cities, counties, and states that step up and spend money to attract real money that ALSO attracts public good.
  4. At Beaver, there are actually two ramps. One for lake full. The other is for the old days and is out on the edge of the river channel. You have to drive over gravel normally submerged, but a paved ramp at the channel waits on you.
  5. Coach Bell lives up there. Taught with him for years. Hassel is his first name. Find him and he will know what is happening.
  6. As a middle school teacher who must deal with head lice on an all too regular basis, I wish the extinction worked from the top down.
  7. Google "Elote Tulsa" and plan around this for eating in Tulsa.
  8. Anything that preserves where we are now and prevents deterioration will be good. Face it, the White we have is not that of our ancestors. No floods, no river boats, no empty channels with pool after pool nearly disconnected. The challenge is making sure it becomes no worse.
  9. Impressive! Do you know? Who is paying for this? The state. Grove, other?
  10. Thank you both. Merc, we must get together and compare very upper end notes.
  11. Who wouldn't love to catch that fish?! Well done and thanks for the report.
  12. i had Tim Hughes paint 20, I replaced the standard hooks with Daicchi Death Traps, and I hand tied my own feather and tinsel tail. If I can get it to load, the attached pic shows one after modification.
  13. I googled crease minnow. I see the resemblance. The bait sometimes throws oddly - someone said like a potato chip - and getting a WTD going sometimes is difficult. However, in the long run consider this: I am a topwater fanatic and I am willing to spend $20 per bait. I fish modified Top Dollars.
  14. Guys, trust me on this. Both popper people and WTD people will love the Top Dollar on rivers. Just the right size, splashes and walks. Check my posts for the last two years for pictures of Top Dollar fish. On the unmodified Bill Norman's just sharpen the hooks.
  15. Funny thread.
  16. Go get them!
  17. How much information can two people put in one thread? Thanks guys.
  18. Very good fish! Only a matter of time before a larger one though.

  20. I use bait casters for everything on line above 4#. Control, accuracy, quality drag, and ability to sense what the bait is doing.
  21. Total approval DD! Try a marinade of 1/3 orange juice, 1/3 soy sauce, 1/3 mildly sweet to semi sweet white wine. First and third ingredients break down and add sugars, second ingredient adds color and salt.
  22. Herding was once standard. I remember when a guide I hired used it. I didn't feel it was right somehow although I enjoyed the result. (BTW, I have never kept a brown I caught). Now days, the good guides (I won't list because I do not wish to offend any good guide by leaving them off) call in any herding they see. On topic: The best days for big fish were low water days just as a small generation began.
  23. twoarkies: Now that is about as helpful as anybody could ask for! I love this board.
  24. If the old dog is not hurting, think about getting a female pup now. Let him show her the ropes around the house, and if he lasts, next season. I find overlaping old and young works well if you flip flop the sex.

    New Years Dinner

I made an hors d'oeuvres of cottage cheese, mayo, celery, carrot, cucumber, sweet red pepper, dijon mustard, red wine vinegar, green onion, dill, old bay, salt, pepper, parsley. After it blends you serve it on crackers. I followed with home made crab cakes - more meat than breading, no mayo. I served a cold green bean (marinated in olive oil, balsalmic, garlic, onion) salad as the side. The wife is not fond of black eyed peas, but when I do fix them, I start from the dried beans.
