You were doing real good til ya got ta #5. It doesn't apply to all Ozark streams and shouldn't apply to any of them. I'm sure the disscussion will rise up again someday though and he can decide what team he wants to join. LOL.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Academy. It's no Cabela's or Bass Pro, but they do carry a multitude of items. And their prices are very comparable with anyone's. They also carry their own line of rods reels and fishing tackle that are of high standards. I have never had an issue with pricing. They are scanners at the Inn of the aisles were you can scanty prize so that you will know what it is before you get to the counter if you have a question. And the employees appear to be somewhat knowledgeable in the areas that they work. They also have a great return policy if you're unsatisfied or due to product malfunction.

You could put any names in there with those parameters.

When did you tell me to come up to eat? Great report. I didn't think they were all gone and you confirmed it for me.

Don't you just love when people post stuff on the Internet and then complain because they did not achieve the desired results. I mean good God you just expect everybody to fall in line with your thoughts, beliefs and ethics? What did you think was going to happen?

I think you have to pay at that spot. I don't think it is a park. The entrance is by the Dollar General. I can't remember the name of the place off hand.

I got a hold of Ducky early in the week to see if he was open for a duck hunt. And as always the answer was "You bet"!! So we talked daily made plans, changed plans and made them again. By Friday evening when I showed up at his house, we almost had a plan. One thing we did know for sure was we had a young man with us that was on his quest for his first duck. So finally after a super meal of fried crappie, duck poppers, hush puppies and smoked pheasant, we made final preparations for the next morning's hunt. We excitedly laid our heads down at approximately 11 o'clock, for our 2:45 am wake up call. Corndawg and I actually woke up at 1:45! It's just like Christmas morning to us. By 4 AM after Ducky courageously battled icy roads we were on the water and headed to our destiny. We got completely set up and nestled in just as dawn broke. Immediately we hear shots ring out everywhere else at shooting time. So we know at this point there's going to be ducks in the air headed our way. And that they did. It was not long until our young man had his first duck down. This new young man to the sport of duck hunting is one of our own forum members son, Ian. He is the son of Woundedone. Unfortunately, he was not available to make the trip with us. Ian and Corndawg ended the day with two ducks a piece. There was a fifth duck that was shot but got over us that I went to retrieve. When I got over there another boat that happen to be coming down the lake had spied the duck and what happened to it. Apparently there was a bobcat very close our vicinity. And Michael Kyle who was in that other boat saw that a bobcat attacked that duck. That would have been awesome to get on film! I cannot thank Ducky and DD'sMC for the most awesome hospitality any human could ever expect to receive. I know there are many people that pay large sums of money to enjoy an experience not even half of what we did. Excellent, excellent people. I am extremely proud to call them my friends. It is just amazing what the do to show people a good time! And now for a little duck porn.

I recieved this in a private email from one of my contacts. I post as information only. But I remind you if past postings in regards to certain party members trying to take control of the MDC. Missouri Conservation Pioneers January 10, 2014 Special Notice Another Attempt to Expand the Number of Conservation Commissioners Legislation (SJR 29) has been introduced by Senator Munzlinger that proposes expanding the Missouri Conservation Commission from the current four members that serve statewide, to eight members with each representing different parts of the state. The legislation has already been assigned to the Senate Agriculture, Food Production and Outdoor Recreation Committee. Senator Munzlinger is the Committee Chair so a committee hearing can be expected in a few weeks. Other members of the committee include Senators Liblia (R-Poplar Bluff), Parson (R-Bolivar), Pearce (R-Warrensburg), Brown (R-Rolla), Holsman (D-Kansas City), and Curls (D-Kansas City). A few reasons why NOT to expand commission? 1. Missouri's citizen-created system is the national model; 75-year plus successful track record; 49 other states openly express they would like to have Missouri's system. 2. Commissioners serve statewide, not specific districts, a key fact to ensuring top state-level priorities continue to get addressed-Commissioners not fighting for only one portion of state. 3. The current number requires all commissioners to be engaged fully and have direct/open dialog on all issues. 4. By design, citizens created the number of four. It has proven a wise decision. If you have feelings about this proposed legislation, you should contact your State Senator and let your feelings be known. You can find the name of your State Senator and how to contact them at http://www.senate.mo.gov/14info/SenateRoster.htm. Folks should also contact Senate leadership which includes: Senator Tom Dempsey, Senator Ron Richard, Senator Mike Kehoe, and Senator Brian Nieves. ________________________________________________________________ Missouri Conservation Pioneers Officers Chair: David Urich (urichd@centurylink.net) Secretary: Gary Novinger (novingerg@yahoo.com) Treasurer: Joe G. Need Some Direction
Chief Grey Bear replied to Chief Grey Bear's topic in General Angling Discussion
Thanks for all the info fellas. You are right Gavin that is a big area. The actual area is not that size but I figure I will give it plenty of coverage. Ronnie, I think I will be giving you a call or text. Sounds like it is worth a try. And its not like it is the end of the life of this great craft. It still works and operates just fine. She has taken great care of me and we have seen and done a lot together. She is just like a good bird dog. You just can't put her down. And she doesn't want to quit. She waits patiently for the door to open so she can kennel up. We have floated a lot of waters together and we will float a lot more. Although there are others in the garage with her, she knows it is her that will get to go on the trip. She is always ready and never tires. -

Need Some Direction
Chief Grey Bear replied to Chief Grey Bear's topic in General Angling Discussion
I saw that. Didn't much like the idea of shelling out $100 for it. I read one time guys were melting milk jugs for patching. But that may have been for the Coleman types. They even said that the milk jugs were better than other types of bottles like laundry and bleach jugs. I have thought about trying that just to see. -
Went On A Drive Looking For Ducks Today.

I saw a field near Afton this afternoon that was solid green. And it wasn't grass! Had to have been close to or over 1k. I haven't seen that many in a while! -
I have an old town 169 triple liner or whatever they're called. On the underneath side in the vicinity of where my feet rest, The outside layer has started separating from the inner layer. It has finally got a split in and just the other week I knocked a piece out of it. What type of patching material do you suggest? I need to cover approximately a 12" x 12" area.

I waded by that spot for a few years before I even knew that fence had a walk through. LOL! But like you say, over the last few years it has consistantly gotten deeper at that spot. I would think that a gate like the one on the south side could be erected on the north too????
-
That last one was sure there for a lot of years. Ladders are good until someone falls. Just seems like a lot of liability with those. Cattle get out all the time. I was over that way Saturday and one was out on the road northeast of the mill on the road to hwy 60. If a calf got out, it wasn't because of the little red gate. That was just his excuse. Kinda like Prater claiming floaters are shooting his cattle. Whats the story on the RV parked there now? Looks like it will be permanent with the pole and meter.
-
Have you ever seen cattle in that little pasture? I don't think I ever have. I know one year he put up an electric fence along but well back of the creek on that side. It was there maybe a month before a flood took it out. I would be more than willing to work with him on a viable solution to this problem. One that in a way he created. His land is surrounded by MDC land and it is a well known, highly trafficed creek. Its been like this for 40 years. I am sure that if he would buy the supplies, you, I, Ollie and some other would pitch in and erect a source of entry like there used to be. We could even maintain it for him. At his cost, our labor.

I was on Stockton today. By the time you get here I wouldn't be surprised if the main lake was all that was open. All of the coves are freezing over. Some all the way out.
