Quill - what does the roster look like? C4F

Good thought about NE lakes....a term we use loosely up here as many are in the 500 acre range - but can hold good fish! I do have SI & DI and really need to "understand" what I am seeing....on TR I struggle with the run out thing....gravel to rock etc. Meaning looking for the right thing. C4F

I grew up using a left handed spinning reel and only moved to bait casters when I really got into Bass fishing....I am now trying to use left handed reels - especially for pitching....if you want to see some one appearing to have some kind of fit while casting watch me with a left handed bait caster ...if it isn't a professional over cast I have one he!! of a time figuring out how to crank the bait back in! Talk about muscle memory.... So.... funny first time bait casting story - many years ago or so I just started coming to TR to fish....figured out I needed a guide and hooked up with Buster....we first went drop shoting....easy peasy...he says "hey lets throw a jig....you have thrown a bait caster before right?" Me "heck yeah! this isn't my first time sheeesh" that was a fishermans tale! Note: fisherman / fisherperson tales are not considered lies according to the good book..... Even Jesus and the Disciples must have fudged the size of the catch some when they fed the flock and had some left over....just sayin.... While I had thrown one it had been YEARS - so I load up and throw this thing a mile.....without my thumb on the spool...I have never ever seen so much line hanging from the reel....he just looks at me - not saying a word....comes to the back of the boat and takes the rod from me and hands me the spin outfit....drop shoting is fun...... Champ - Bassmaster1 and Donna are the top 3.....me - thanks for asking...I dropped to a respectable 11!! ThHis is the first fantasy league that I have been in other than the fantasy's that I have while on the water. So I am still getting the hang of it. C4F

OKay in a moment of "buying fishing stuff weakness" at our local Cabelas I did buy a package (don't judge me!!)....well two of these and yeah they have their place but they are not a good replacement for the cut Z....one or two fish and the bait is toast....not sliding down the hook thing but completely cut in half or less!!! So you would go through more than the average Z about for sure.....and they do not catch as many in my opinion. Please forgive me my internet fishing friends as I have strayed from the path as a form of repentance I have made myself retire all of my baits this week!! C4F

So I was looking at the picks etc. last evening and I kept getting a time out....the one that tells you that every internet way to the page is busy kind of thing...I finally gave up when I got to the Ozark page and tried refreshing a dozen times with no success.....there must have been a ton of folks getting in and making changes! I think that I am in as I see my name this a.m. - best of lick all! C4F

C4F ** Please note that C4F takes great care in wearing clean.....if not then it is none at all....

I just watched that episode and that was Ott Defoe, he went back in that area twice...that is dedication - it was a good show overall...I think that Watson is pretty funny and could watch him all of the time. I have never fished LOZ - but may have to give it a try. C4F

You know Stone since you live on the rock I would pick out a dealer that you like and is reputable ....and there are some good ones in the area ( I would ask folks like Bill Babler who will put many hours on a boat)....test drive a few at the price point / size that you can afford (personally I would lean towards one with a motor warranty if possible) in whatever way that you can afford it - we all have our toys and shoes I am finding out.... and have a philosophy as to how we pay / finance them....friends, family, credit unions, home equity loans, picking up aluminum cans etc.....if you do finance make sure that you do not get upside down, those stories never end well.... Then spring for it - we started with a used Nitro NX750, financed for 7 years and paid it off in <4, then started the trade route. This path is not for everyone but it worked for us and we are happy.....not better fisher people.....but happy. C4F

Hey - I tried fishing Saturday also.....went to a lake here and stood on 15' of water.....no love there!! All the baits I tried turned out to be top waters!

We probably have to stay away from the justify aspect of owning a boat ....heck if that were the criteria I would only have a Zebco spooled with 12 lb line, three bobbers and 1/2 dozen hooks!! SO - funny story about justifying things - moving some stuff for the wife....noticed a butt load of shoes....for kicks I counted the number of pairs...well in excess of 125 pair and I ask her why she needs so many shoes....she lovingly takes my hand ( I knew I was probably in trouble at this point) and we walk to the garage and we stand in front of my tackle bench.....nuff said. C4F

Ketchup...you are right - not a bad gig if you can get it! I donated early I also wanted to make sure that I had lunch covered! If you don't have a boat by that time and want to fish let me know as I am fishing solo...as long as someone on here can vouch for you C4F

ab - I bet you are right....$15/doz is a good price for that type of ball....I am sure one of their Execs called the ball factory and made his wishes known.... They just opened a Costco near me....may have to go see if they have any squirreled away Then again who knew all balls were basically made in a couple of factories!!

I hear that - something about casting a lure the size of a small fish just does not compute for me....but this year I am going to try this more...I am sure that I will go farther between bites, which is a hard thing to do, but I hope that the size will get up there. I say that and here is what will happen....I will throw the big stuff....get no bites for a long period of time (3-5 minutes)....get pissy at myself and pick the Ned up so I can get into the action.... Well it was nice while it happened in my mind.... C4F

Exactly! Of all the coaches out there at the time....frankly we won some games this year because the other team was off. We never looked good....I suspect that the "Nation" will be a little more vocal next year as we really don't have much to work with! But I think that we can all agree that Calahan was a bust
