  1. Forgot to mention a Carolina-rigged Centipede. Caught several on it, too.
  2. The low water helped and will continue to help into fall. Makes the fish more accessible.
  3. Bo, I clearly stated this was during a Central Pro-Am fall event on Table Rock. So yes, it was during a tournament.
  4. Hmmmm, details? Line size ranged from 6 to 17 pound test. Both mono and fluorocarbon. Falcon, Duckett and Lew's rods from 6-9 M-Fast to 7-6 M-Fast. Ranger Z-119 boat, Mercury Pro-XS 225 engine, Minn Kota Fortrex 101 TM, Humminbird and Lowrance electronics. Seriously, covered lots of water ranging from flat gravel to sheer bluffs. Lures were finesse and fb jigs, squarebill and medium-diving cranks (nothing on either) and spinnerbaits. All fish were pretty shallow ... nothing deeper than 15 feet.
  5. Thanks for the honest report. I've struggled to catch keepers my last couple of trips, too. Donna and I are gonna launch at Eagle Rock tomorrow and see what we can scare up. Hopefully I won't catch myself again.
  6. You guys are too kind. It's no burden to pray for someone and offer encouragement during hard times. Many of you did the same for me and Donna when we went through our cancer surgeries a few years back. Like Dave (dtrs5kprs) said, there's a bunch of good people here who care about each other. I'm just proud as peaches to call you guys friends. And happy as can be to take any of you fishing anytime that I can.
  7. Settle down, everyone. All I did was offer to take the gentleman fishing and try to show him a few river rat tricks. He may be humming a different tune by the time we're done.
  8. You mean a lot to us, old buddy. A whole lot.
  9. I have no doubt that Scott and Sutton are good tournament directors. I've known their dad for years and he's a fine man. I also agree that most OMTT participants are good sportsmen, including being courteous. We all know that small faction of "others" is out there and that they seem to be growing in number with every passing year. It's a shame that common courtesy has fallen by the wayside, but there's not much denying that it's gone for good with some folks.
  10. Donna fished with a well-known local a few years back in a Central Pro-Am fall event on Table Rock. All day, the guy dragged a football jig with his trolling motor. So yes, it's done a lot. But I'm with Bo --- it isn't right. The rule either needs to be enforced or struck down.
  11. I personally don't care for the bronze hooks that come on Wiggle Warts. I don't think you hook as many half-hearted strikes as with premium hooks. My choice is Owner Stinger trebles in size 5. But that's just me.
  12. Dragging your lure behind a moving boat, i.e. allowing the boat to be the force that moves the lure, IS TROLLING and is illegal in nearly any tournament I've ever fished. There have been some intense debates over this on the pro circuits. Sending a pm, Jim.
  13. Glad you're on the mend.
  14. Glad to see you break the surface, Bill. Keep getting better and look forward to seeing you back in action soon.
  15. You're dead right, Plug. It's just a piece of information. But as you surely know from a lifetime of fishing, the more information you gather BEFORE you get on the water and the better you understand what's going on down below, the more likely you are to put the right lures in the right spots once you get out there. And not every piece of information appeals to everyone. Kinda reminds me of what they like to say about AA meetings --- take what you can use and leave the rest.
  16. Gotta love a bonus Walter anytime. Yummy in the tummy.
  17. Now I KNOW better than that.
  18. None up the White or Kings that I've seen.
  19. Holy crap, Thumbs. You must be a LOT nicer guy than me. I don't think I have 10-12 friends, much less that many I'd want to spend the night with!
  20. Wowsers! How cool is that?
  21. I would agree that Sykora is strong as can be up there. Pretty good debate between him and Wiese.
  22. Good job, abk. Nice to hear the winding bite is picking up. With the lake low and the fish more accessible, it may be a prime fall for cranking and blading. I saw some pretty poor behavior uplake this weekend and have a hunch some of it came from the OMTT boys. And you're right, it's only going to get worse ... especially if everyone just shakes their head and goes on without calling their hand on it.
  23. Thanks for the detailed report, as always. Might get up there myself in the morning. If you go again and beat me there, try not to take the best parking spot. I'm not big on walking any farther than I have to.
  24. Not a bad outing, rps. Thanks for the report.
  25. Why do Waffle House doors have locks?
