Would be interesting to know how old that fish is.

I've never heard of that. Could be different from state to state .But I have heard of guys in California catching the same large mouth multiple times in the hopes of it being bigger each time and being a new record. Also the 3rd to last Spotted Bass record in CA was released. Then that fish was broken again like a month later and that was released alive as well. Then THAT was broken a few months after THAT (record was broken 3 times in a year but only 2 were verified I believe) and it was released as well. Not sure how all that works but didn't think you had to destroy a fish to confirm it as a record.

Pending IL State record caught the other day. Caught on a bladed jig. The crappie weighed 4 pounds, 8.8 ounces and measured 18 3/4 inches long with over 16 inches in girth. The fish is still alive and is being held in a live release tank. Josh Jackson converted an old deep freeze with copper pipes—originally meant to hold minnows—but it’s now the temporary home for the record crappie. The anglers are working closely with DNR officials to safely and lawfully transport the fish to a Bass Pro Shops tank so the public can enjoy the fish.

From what I have seen they don't fetch anymore than the later models with the "wiggle wart" stamped under the bill. May go for a little more to the right collector who needs that model or something. But, that is a very run of the mill color so unfortunately you can't quit your day job and retire just yet. About a $15 bait if I had to guess. Best way to get a value is to throw it on Ebay and let the market tell you it's current going rate.

Yep. The clear water section of TR around the dam gets the slime due to the sunlight being able to penetrate the deepest. The algae growth aka "rock snot" is able to grow because of that fact. Definitely puts the kibosh on some baits like warts and other bottom draggers and dredgers.

How awkward is Lefebre? He makes me uncomfortable just watching him 1000 miles away on a laptop. As if we needed any more awkwardness added to the stage with Mercer.

Last reminder to set your Classic lineups! Don't forget! Have until Thursday night to set your roster. I for one know that I have changed my team a few times already. Should be interesting.

I'm showing this to my wife. "See honey, a certified marine mechanic said the problem is that I don't fish enough. I am actually SAVING us money by me fishing more often. It's science." Good info there Wrench. Thanks for the lesson.

You still a spinnerbait burning machine? You still make them?

They call that the "Mike Anderson Effect". I, as well as MU fans, know it all too well.

It's actually amazing how crappy outboards are compared to car motors. I don't understand how motors in cars are pretty reliable and withstand constant usage whereas outboards get a fraction of that abuse and crap out in no time. I might be showing my ignorance but I just don't get it.

Tfsh4bass, Been a while since I've seen you on the boards. Welcome back and good luck with the partner search.

I've always been loyal to Kalin's. That's all the man who got me fishing threw (Grandpa), so that's all that I throw.

Keep the trailer between the yellow and white lines then. J/K. I let my wife take my car to work a few times the last couple of years and her success rate of picking up metal objects in my tires is about 75%. Truly incredible.

Last week a guy here whizzed in someones Cheerios. This week we have someone probably crying in his Cheerios this morning in Kansas while stroking some elaztech for comfort.

Yep....It's classic week! Get your lineups set men. And Donna.

Yep. Pre Rap warts range from the 70s to late 90s. So you should be in the sweet spot with those inherited boxes. Happy hunting.

I bought a couple from SA because as you mention they are dirt cheap. I think I got 5 for $15. I'm a sunscreen guy so I don't wear them and just gave them to my brother and dad as a cheap gift. Have a few laying around that I will just give to people. So I don't know how they stack up with other "buffs" on the market but they seem to achieve their purpose.

I get it. You're a checkers guy more-so than a chess guy.

Since this is BBC week on OAF figured I'd post some pics from a guy in Louisianna who was trying to upstart a high end tin bass rig company. Not going to lie it looks incredible to me. No idea on the tech specs, weight, fishability, etc.....but man it looks sharp. Never did hear what became of it or if he got investors because the thread over there died out. Been about 4 years since initial post over there. Intriguing boat.

Why anyone in their right mind would fish that lake anywhere close to the Mexican border is beyond me. Lots of good lakes in this country to fish where you aren't in immediate danger of being gunned down like its 1870.

What does everyone think about the water temp?

If you are up the White, Kings or James you should still be okay. If you are in Long Creek.....take a ticket and get in line to fish anything around there (weigh in site for BBT). -
I have used Loctite Marine epoxy in the past. Can get it in clear or white. That stuff hardens like a brick and takes about 2 hours to set. 24+ hours to fully cure. A week even better in my experience. I have bonded two pieces of plastic (and lead as well) together using it for various things from fishing lures to my daughters plastic toys....stuff is ROCK SOLID. I would venture to say that it MAY hold up to the abuse that warts get when properly fished. It would get my vote if I were doing a repair on a bait. Made to withstand being submerged in water so it's a fitting epoxy for fishing lures IMO. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Loctite-1405604-0.85-Oz-Marine-Epoxy/20371225?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=335&adid=22222222227016774559&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=52574105111&wl4=pla-84455347151&wl5=9022878&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=111830463&wl11=online&wl12=20371225&wl13=&veh=sem

I played the 3 big sports (baseball, basketball and football). I wasn't particularly good at any of them. So anything outside of that was for girls or wimps. Hated soccer with a passion. I was stubborn and hardheaded about other sports until I turned about 25. Then for whatever reason I found an appreciation for just about all sports including futbol...aka soccer. EPL, World Cup....fantastic. Having trouble going to sleep at night? Watch some cricket matches from Australia, India and Sri Lanka. Lights out. Great stuff.

Not to be a Debbie Downer but you picked kinda a bad weekend. Big Bass Tour is in town that weekend and there will be 600 boats on the lake plus weekenders. The crappie might be dug into the trenches with their pickelhaubes on. I'm sure you will be able to catch some but you are gonna have to fight us bass hunters every step of the way. For Day 1 and 2 of your trip at least. Good luck.
